I'm sure when using Anna I could add one using 'add shortcut' but on Belle, 'add shortcut' only directs you to application shortcuts.

Jul 21, 2012Has anyone experienced this problem before? When I try adding any shortcut to the home screen, it shows a "running circle" icon on the home screen. Looks like it's loading, but it's just like that forever. This happens to all available shortcuts and most of the widgets except for Clocks and Map Apps.My phone is updated to the latest Belle.

Dec 12, 2011My N8 suddenly hung up and suddenly deleted all of my homescreens. It would have been okay for me to set all three screens back to their original configuration but unfortunately, I can't edit the main homescreen. I can edit the two additional screens but NOT the main (1st) homescreen. It just says homescreen is full! Last thing I installed was the Xmas theme Rugge from the Nokia store.

Nov 7, 2011I asked this a long time ago for the Nokia Nuron, and there was no answer. I'm hoping that with the N8 there is a solution.
Is there any way to "lock" a N8, which allows anything to be clicked on or viewed, but does not allow any changes to anything without knowing a "key"?
I'm tired of letting people check out my phone, and then having to go through everything to make sure it is still the way I want it to be. I doubt there is any kind of answerr, but I figured I'd ask anyway, "just in case".
I do like showing off my phone, if someone is interested. I think it's rather dumb that anyone holding the phone can change things from pressing or moving the wrong thing.

Jul 15, 2010I am in the messaging application, click to update mailbox and while it is trying to update the email application crashes and closes completely. I am returned to the home screen but now the shortcut I had for my email account inbox is gone, replaced by a shortcut to the music store. I had to manually fix this several times but then I discovered that just leaving it after a while the correct icon would reappear.

Sep 23, 2011I have been a long standing and loyal customer of nokia and virgin mobile, but when you get a product like an n8 and when you have to go thorugh so much hassle with it in using it, problems with battery recharge, tap screens not working consistently etc, and then when you have to go through hoop after hoop in trying to get something fixed it just isnt worth it any more.Nokia and Virgin mobile have lost vtheir way in the basics they have forgotton who keeps them in business and for that we all now suffer.I can choose in the future to never use another nokia product and I can choose never to fly virgin or buy any virgin producy ever again. I feel pretty good now realising taht I have that choice.I need to go back to using the land line, you know, thats the one with gthe phone cponnected to the wall.

Oct 2, 2012I did a software update via Nokia Suite as it said it had some new themes. While this was installing my N8 ran out of memory and the installation failed. When I checked my N8 the homescreen widgets and shortcuts had disappeared.
I have tried to re- add them but they do not appear on any of the homescreens.

I searched answers to this problem on the forum, all were related to deleting old messages etc. If i go to memory details via file manager, contacts and messages together only occupy 10mb. Most is taken up by 'other files'.I opened my phone memory via x-plore app, and i found a folder called Private. It has around 88mb memory. And it looks useless, it has files with names of apps that i have uninstalled ages ago. Can i delete the folder Private? How will it affect my phone if i delete it.?

Jan 10, 2012Electrify on U S Cellular. When moving from one home screen to another has just a slight lag or more of jerk then a fluid movement.
All the other menus or navigating around the phone is smooth as silk. I do run a live wallpaper but changing to a static one it seems the same. With all the horsepower this phone is supposed to have I expected those screens to just to fly by smoothly.

Mar 17, 2010My 5530XM is acting up again (v.11 firmware). The symptoms are random disconnects from WLAN and, after doing a soft reset, unable to put shortcuts on the home screen (using the Shortcuts theme). I really think the problem is with the memory card because I can't turn the phone on with the card inside.
Is there a way to scan/repair problems with the memory card? I really, really want to avoid a hard reset. Last time I did that, I lost all my apps from the memory card (I have the Games Edition). I can try using PC Suite or Ovi Suite to back up my memory card apps, but I don't trust the suites that much. What I'd like to do is drag and drop my memory card apps to another location in my PC, but I cannot see the memory card apps in Windows Explorer.

Jun 22, 2011i own a 5800 and when i tried to access to the memory card through the file manager it says the card was corrupted. but when i inserted the card in a memory card reader, it works accept that i cant eject it and a pop-up window came out saying an error occured while ejecting the card. it is a 8Gb memory card. i found a solution similar to my situation but is there any other alternative ways that doesn't require me to download huge files?

Feb 20, 2010I bought a Nokia 5230 in Jan this year. There was no issue for the first few days... Then suddenly it started restarting . Radomly. First when I enabled bluetooth. Then later on it would restart when I changed a setting like Home Screen Shortcuts or Personalised the General Profile ... etc. I am using a SanDisk MicroSD 4 GB card brand new clean formatted. ..So , I went to the Nokia Care store countless times, and they re-installed and updated the phone software and gave it to me.. still the same problem.. SO then they sent it to the Delhi Head Office and I got a replacement 5230 !!! And guess what still the same problem !!! Random restarts. I feel there is some issue with the phone software or firmware or there is some issue with the phone accessing its memory card , I dont know. I have the latest firmware update for this phone V12.0.089
