I asked this a long time ago for the Nokia Nuron, and there was no answer. I'm hoping that with the N8 there is a solution.
Is there any way to "lock" a N8, which allows anything to be clicked on or viewed, but does not allow any changes to anything without knowing a "key"?
I'm tired of letting people check out my phone, and then having to go through everything to make sure it is still the way I want it to be. I doubt there is any kind of answerr, but I figured I'd ask anyway, "just in case".
I do like showing off my phone, if someone is interested. I think it's rather dumb that anyone holding the phone can change things from pressing or moving the wrong thing.
My N8 suddenly hung up and suddenly deleted all of my homescreens. It would have been okay for me to set all three screens back to their original configuration but unfortunately, I can't edit the main homescreen. I can edit the two additional screens but NOT the main (1st) homescreen. It just says homescreen is full! Last thing I installed was the Xmas theme Rugge from the Nokia store.
I recently upgraded to the Curve 9330.I noticed the home screen has several views - Frequent, Downloads, Favorites, Media, and All.I only want to see the ALL screen. I get annoyed when I scroll sideways and it goes to these other home screen options. Can I lock down or hide the other screens?
It's like the toolbar at the top has somehow shifted over to the left on the homescreen and lockscreen of my phone.. taking away my clock, signal, etc... (see pictures below that I took) This only happened after I downloaded a software update last night.. called, iOS 5.1..?? I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Whenever I open an app, it goes back to normal though..
I keep my phone in one of those super heavy duty otter box cases so it's not physically damaged or anything..might not be relevant but just throwing that out there!! =)
also.. on a side note, the option to open the camera from the lock screen is now on my phone, don't know how it got there.. did that come with the software update, and is it a setting you can choose whether or not to have on there?
My HTC One has recently updated to Android 4.3 + sense 5.5 and I find I can no longer use different wallpapers for my lock screen and home screen as I could previously. The facility apparently no longer exists. Yes, I know I can use a third party app like widget locker but why should I when the facility already existed. What is it these days that developers remove useful functions just because they see fit. Is this really progress? I lost my phone some weeks ago and because I had put my contact details on the lock screen + I.C.E details with a self-made wallpaper, my phone was returned to me within 3 hours of the loss.
i love th new sleeping screens but wanted to know does anyone have a way to disable notifications such as text messages coming onto the sleeping screens.?
I have been a long standing and loyal customer of nokia and virgin mobile, but when you get a product like an n8 and when you have to go thorugh so much hassle with it in using it, problems with battery recharge, tap screens not working consistently etc, and then when you have to go through hoop after hoop in trying to get something fixed it just isnt worth it any more.Nokia and Virgin mobile have lost vtheir way in the basics they have forgotton who keeps them in business and for that we all now suffer.I can choose in the future to never use another nokia product and I can choose never to fly virgin or buy any virgin producy ever again. I feel pretty good now realising taht I have that choice.I need to go back to using the land line, you know, thats the one with gthe phone cponnected to the wall.
Electrify on U S Cellular. When moving from one home screen to another has just a slight lag or more of jerk then a fluid movement.
All the other menus or navigating around the phone is smooth as silk. I do run a live wallpaper but changing to a static one it seems the same. With all the horsepower this phone is supposed to have I expected those screens to just to fly by smoothly.
After the lollipop update, and unlike previous version, i now have 2 lock screens to pass - the general one and then the pin code due to my microsoft exchange account settings.
In Galaxy S5, I could easily add a memo Widget to my Home screens; so far, I can't find a memo widget IN Galaxy S6. I CAN download a memo widget app--but, I'd rather use the included memo app, if possible---
I have an Xperia Z3. Since upgrading to Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop), I'm no longer able to rearrange the home screens. I used to be able to do this by long-pressing an empty area of the screen, then long-pressing the screen I want to move. This no longer works. It's there a fix?
I'm stock unrooted and still waiting for the 6.0.1 update.
Starting yesterday, all of my widgets began just disappearing. I put them back, and and later in the day they're gone again. Three of them on two different home screens.
Is there an app or way to have all my Home screens rotate to landscape mode, as well as key apps like the dialer? I use the nav system in the car if calls come in, or if I want to lauch a traffic app, the screens, menus and dialer are all portrait/vertical. I've tried Open Home as a home screen replacement but felt it slowed down my DroidX and I don't really want to have to go through all the shortcut customization again. I tried the Car dock but can't globally add all the apps and some of the alternate car replacement apps seem to require a physical dock, which I don't use, and require adding in the apps I want to use.
Could not figure out if its still there or not but before the update you used to be able to swipe screens and on the bottom you could jump from first or last screen instantly or vice versa can't seem to get it to do that don't know if I am doing something wrong or they took that feature away the little dots on the bottom that show which of the seven screens you are on are to small to touch
I run the Nova Prime Launcher on my PE. I've had random reboots before but the latest one completely restored all of my home screens to stock. Luckily the settings within saved because it took me hours to perfect it. I tried a few reboots and a cache wipe but that did nothing.
Is there a way on the Xoom with ICS to create folder on the homescreens (like on my Atrix or an iPad) to organize icons or do we still need to use 3rd party apps for that kind or function?
The help states ""Lock phone" will remotely lock your phone and present a custom message which you can personalize by pressing the "Settings" button."I cannot find this on the phone itself. Are there screens after the "Lock phone" button on the dashboard? if so, it would be helpful to state this, as i have a feeling users will be put off by the possibilty that their next action may lock the phone with no knowledge of how to unlock it.
Three days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.
