Nokia :: N900 How To Get Notified Of Emails - App That Shows On Main Menu Screen What New Emails Are In Box?
Mar 11, 2010
Been using the N900 for a few weeks now, replacing one of my superb E90s. So far, sort of so good, the major differences in the user interface are causing a few issues, but I sort of expected that!Does anyone have any answers to the following please?
1. Is there some way of being notified of my emails better? I have four accounts on my Nokia Messaging account, and I have to open each one and check each inbox individually. Pain in the neck; is there an app that shows on the main menu screen what new emails are in which box?
2. Can SMS be marked read? My N900 keeps reporting that I have so many new SMSs, but I have actually read them;
3. Why do all my contacts' birthdays come up twice in the calendar? That's just annoying - it looks as though the N900 is adding a birthday automatically;
4. Is there a setting to allow the system to change from portrait to landscape and back again? My device only seems to do this on a few applications - is this normal?
5. Skype - is there a way to see which contacts are on line, other than having to wade through the contact lists? I have over 2,000 contacts and it is pretty time consuming, if I am just looking for a chat with anyone about.
9800 Torch When I set up new Email account in Setup - Email Accounts menu it doesn't apear as a shortcut on mainscreen.I have an account on mts.blackberry.com and I can see my email account there. But I can't send e-mail from my device, because "No message service configured. You will be redirected to The Setup Wizard to setup your email accont". Then the OS opening the wizard and i can see my accounts there.I have upgrated my software (with BlackBerry Desktop Software), did the Security Wipe, tryed to delete and then add my email account - nothing. I have tryed to recieve Service Books - nothing received.
I had my nokia messaging working beautifully on my e71 and N900 and all of a sudden today I cant get my emails on my N900 How can I restart or troubleshoot this problem
Is it possible I can setup email on E72 to show more than 2 mail box on desktop. I have set 3 mailboxes but E72 just shows gmail and hotmail on desktop,and my 3rd email account is just in email folder, not desktop! how can I solve it?
I have a N95 that has a weird screen issue. I've spent just over a week looking for an answer, searching Google and forums.The screen is very dull on the main menu, to the extent that to see any data on it you need to be in a very dark room. The screen saver however is just as bright as it has always been, brighter in fact.
I've turned the screen brightness up to full but this made no difference. It is almost as if the back light has been turned off.Does anyone know how to turn the back light on or even any resolution of this so I can use the phone during the day.
I added my hotmail account on my N900 but now it says that I have about 2000 unread emails.How can I easily mark all emails as read or get it to only receive new emails?
I just buy asha 202 ... I was using mail function to access my gmail but after using 1st day it gets disappear from main menu and when i switchd off and restart the phone its get appear and after using phone for 1 minute it gets disappearkindly assist me i m very disappointd with dis type of errors in new phone of nokia
Just wanted to ask, after the latest update. It feels like you really need to press down on the power button to get the shut down menu to show up.If i don't press down hard enough or right, the shut down menu shows up then it locks and the lock screen shows up. it's quite straight forward, and I don't remember having to hold down the power button for that long for it to shut down.
For the last two weeks my curve is showing I have 6 unread email messages yet I have none.I searched the forum and it's not call logging as I had that turned off.Anybody have an idea what's causing this? I have double checked all my email accounts all to know avail.
I recently replaced my blackberry curve with the same one and I used to get all of my email accounts in my main message folder but now I can't get one of my emails to show up in the main message folder.
Now with the update, a menu bar appears at the bottom of the page of the email that I have chosen to read.
I called Verizon to ask if I could hide it or delete it since it makes the readable screen smaller, and the rep said no...it can't be hidden or deleted.
i've had this happen to my 8900, and thought there was something wrong with the phone, but after doing a official update from t-mobile on mt 9700 the same thing happens. whe doing a battery pull and the phone reboots. only on the main screen (the screen with all the apps and folders) the screen is completely blank or white and the only way i can see the folders or apps is by highlighting them. only happened after i updated it and only happens when doing a battery pull, once i reset the wall paper it will be fine until i do another battery pull. i already uninstalled and reinstalled my blackberry desktop and try to reload and that didn't fix it. anyone had this issue or know how to fix it.
I've recently done a factory reset & software reinstallation (which seems to have improved the erratic autorotate behaviour).However, my gmail emails no longer appear on the home screen (although they are syncing as I can access them in the Email app.).I've searched through various settings but can't get them to appear.
when I started to organize my N8's menu I clicked on the Settings icon and moved it and it disappeared from the menu I looked in the Application folder but it wasn't there. And now I don't know how to return it (BTW tried to restore factory settings stayed the same the icon is gone)
I was prompted to update ovi from 2.14.0 to 2.16.0. As soon as i did my phone turned off and when i turned it back on my ovi store icon was missing from my main menu. How do i get the icon back?
is there a way (an app or shell) which can make my 5800XM show the calendar meetings/tasks and emails on the same screen?
it's quite stupid NOKIA had separated between the two. there should be one business-like homescreen (with emails, tasks, search-bar and apps), and another more friendly with favourite contacts and apps.Cannot understand why nokia shoot it's own leg with these stupid desicions... hope it will be fixed in the next firmware update.
I'm running .400 and I cannot figure out why my Gmail doesn't forward to my BB emails sent to myself. If I'm on my PC and I compose a message to the same email address I'm writing from, which is connected with my BIS, the email doesn't appear on my BB ever.In Gmail, I have forwarding disabled but POP enabled.
I have a blackberry. Problem is I have a limited data plan. I don't want to go over the limit.
Is it possible to stilll recieve the emails but that all attachments are filtered and excluded from the pushed email into my BB? If I want to see the attachments I will goto a proper PC to see it by logging in that way. I want the BB to just let me know an email was sent, and what text/word content is in it, if any. I dont want to recieve the attachments to my blackberry.
Also, does the emails with attachments sent to blackberrys use the data, or are they not downloaded until you explicitly click to open attachments>
When you view your email through the preinstalled apps, either Hotmail or Google. When you viewed them and deleted them then return to your email on a PC/Desktop the emails you've deleted are still there?
My E63 crashed after a software update last night. I seem to have recovered most stuff, but now can't access my emails from the Active Home Screen. It shows that new emails have arrived, but when I click on the icon - nothing happens. Just stays on the home screen. I can access emails by going Menu-Installations-email, but this is a bit of a faff!
Any ideas? I'm using the Nokia Messaging email for my Hotmail account. It all went smoothly for the last year....
My message icon on the main screen "menu" vanished. I can no longer receive messages, and all the messages that I had stored vanished, since the message icon disappeared. I seem however, able to send messages by going to the email, but instead of composing email, i compose sms. However, I never get any replies. The message icon disappeared approximately two weeks ago. I went to the 02 store and the technical assistant took my phone for about 30 minutes, and then gave it back to me, saying he had no idea what had happened. He initially thought it had been "hiden" but it appears to be no where!
I've had the N900 for about 2 months, and just today, everything disappeared from "Conversations" even though I had several text message conversations saved there. Now, anytime I get an SMS text message, my phone shows that I have received a message, but they disappear, unless I send someone a message and they message me back, then that message will open as a new window in the desktop, but nothing at all shows up in "Conversations" anymore at all. Even when I have SMS text messages open as windows on the desktop, when I open "Conversations",it says there are no conversations. Does anyone know what might have happened here and how I can fix it? So frustrating to get a text message and then it just disappears!
