I recently bought a new Nokia lumia 710 & it's having a problem with it's screen. It's sreen flicker somtime when I switch off the screen with the Hardware button on top. The screen light keeps blinking but nothing is shown on the screen. Is that a hardware problem or a software issue?? Can restoring the phone to factory setting help??What troubleshooting steps can I take to resolve the issue before taking it to the Service Centre?

I tried plugging the phone into the wall in case the battery was dead. I tried calling the phone. The only thing that worked was pulling the battery and holding the volume down/power button to reboot the phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my cyan Lumia 800 for just over 3 months now and despite the battery life issue - which still hasn't been resolved for me as the 11500 update hasn't been rolled out to my phone - it's a great phone and I love the smooth WP7 interface, the aesthetics of the device, and the built-in Nokia apps like Drive and Mix Radio.So I was horrified when I got out of the car yesterday and my phone slipped out of my pocket, hit the pavement, and the screen shattered and went dead. Even the most careful of smartphone users will have the odd accident like this with their phone and I wouldn't have been shocked to see a scratch, but I would have expected the polycarbonate body and gorilla glass screen to allow it to withstand breaking from a fall of less than 3 feet.
View 19 Replies View RelatedFound an interesting bug on a few lumia 900's (i have tried it on 4 and all show it) that may affect certain games, especially Harbor Master for me since it involved drawing lines to the screen edge.The problem is that if you draw one straight line from the left edge of the screen to the right edge (or the other way around), the end of the right edge (about 1 cm wide) doesnt acknowledge the line drawing unless the line is drawn very slowly. To reproduce the bug, open the nokia diagnostic tools and run the 'Touch' test. To get the diagnostics tool if you dont, just dial ##634# using the touchpad.Draw a line fro the left edge to the right edge quickly and you will see what i mean. Or from the right to left. The same thing happens if drawn from top to bottom.

What is the proper action to take here? Do i wait for a fix and then download it or do i have to return the phone because it is a hardware issue? I also have a friend who got his phone a few days ago and it has the same problem but not quite as severe.
if i had to guess i would say this have to do with the dimmer componen for the background lightning of the lcd panel, but i have no way to verify this.Other than this i totaly love the phone so i hope this could be fixed with an update, dont want to spend any time w/o it

View 3 Replies View Relatedabout 1 month back, my lumia 900 has the following problems : screen not responding, screen becomes sensitive (things moving by itself etc), soft resetting brings a funny problem, screen scrolling by itself and goes to settings of applications, won't stop until i did another soft reset. i have to soft reset few times for the phone to be stable.then i did a hard reset abt 3 weeks back. reinstall everything, the applications. the phone was stable but last week faced the same problems i mentioned above. i brought the phone to nokia service center and explained everything. got it back last weekend. i asked what they did. They only updated back the firmware (which i could have done myself via zune).unfortunately today, i faced the same problem. Quite frustrated as i expect quality from Nokia. don't know if this is a hardware problem or s/ware. if i bring to nokia service center, they maybe do another firmware reinstallation. really hope from some insights from nokia.with lumia 920 coming , the resale value will surely drop. i will be forced to let go the phone if problem cannot be solved and suffer a big drop in second hand value.

I scrolled up to find it asking for a password. View 2 Replies View RelatedWas installing apps from the marketplace while listenting to music via Spotify, suddenly the phone froze and got stuck. after a few tries i managed to restart the phone by holding the powerbutton in for aproximately 10s. now its stuck on the Nokia screen, hard reset didnt work (holding down - vol.down, power and camera button) soft reset didnt work, obviously. what am I suppposed to do now? I only played with it for 30 mins then it died?
edit: it also seems, its not charging via the adapter that came with it? upon additional soft resets holding powerbutton in) it comes up with battery icon with one red brick, then it seems to restart and vibrate, before it gets stuck on nokia screen again. until i reboot it again. will let it stay on the nokia screen for the night, let's see what happens.
I am using a usb charger to charge my lumia 710. I notice my lumia 710 screen not responding to touch while charging, all the physical buttons are fine, but screen is not, that means I can't receive call or view apps while it's charging. I unplugged the usb cable, then it is back to normal. As soon as I plug back in, the screen stops working.

It's not software issue, it seems that display is not mounted properly. It occurs even when phone is powered off. Anybody else having this problem? Should I request a new unit? I didn't bought it from a store but from local reseller so i don't know if he'll be willing to replace it for me. Maybe it's my imagination but it looks like typing on that area is slightly unprecise.

This only seems to happen in the mail app, has anyone else seen it?When I'm typing a message, the brightness of the screen seems to dim slightly on a key tap, maybe this is a misfiring of the auto screen brightness adjustment that some OLED screens do? But my focus didn't do this... BTW I have auto brightness turned OFF and brightness set to high.What's odd is if I pull up another app with a white background, and start typing, I don't see the issue.Also, just today, I could swear i'm seeing some interference in the mail app where I can see ghostly writing in the background, in addition to the brightness flicker issue.But this still only seems to affect the Mail app?!? maybe it cheats and uses some native code paths that have the issue, rather than using Silverlight?Or maybe my screen is borked.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on my second Lumia 900 (first was preordered, current one is in-store replacement). Both had the 12084 software update. And both did this - when on a call with the headset plugged in and the mini USB plugged into a computer or wall socket, the screen would lock me out.
If I pressed the side button to get the lock screen - nothing. The call in progress would still be there, but the device would not allow me to do anything until I either unplugged the mini USB or pressed the side button enough times for it to return and show me the call screen.
Try this, the phone totally unreactive when you try to move screen with 2 fingers, but when you add 1 more and it start moving again!This does not happen in 900, while 1, or 2 or 3 or you put the whole palm on it the screen still react to it.

As of today while I was out at work I went to use it to send a text and they keyboard would no longer change orientation when I flipped the phone sideways. Nothing would rotate anymore, photos, web pages; its as if the rotation setting is not working. I looked to find one but I can't. I've heard a few issues on various forums like WPcentral about this and that it might be a software bug, and a search of this forum has another user whose rotation doesn't work, but I don't know why this would have just started, and I've tried hard resets and soft resets and nothing seems to fix it.I would really like some information about this or a possible fix, as this is really killing the useability of the phone - that along with the random restarts which happen several times a day on average.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve had my NNokia Lumia 820 approx 4-5 weeks and though Ive got no software problems with the phone, about a week ago, I noticed what looked like smudge marks on the underneath of the screen, at the top under the speaker and in the bottom left corner of the screen, about a third of the way up. I just happened to notice in the daylight today and have noticed that the marks are growing in sixe, especially the one in the bottom left corner, nearly halfway across the screen. I suspect its a build quality issue as Ive never had this issue with a phone before.
