Nokia :: 5800 Can't Find Wi-Fi
Jan 7, 2010I can't find any Wifi on my 5800.If I go into *Settings > Connectivity , There's no Wireless LAN
Anyone know how to help me? Also my GPS does connect.. It doesnt receive anything. The bar stayed at yellow.

Mar 8, 2010My phone stopped working a couple of weeks ago and I sent it to the guys I bought it from to fix it. When i got it back I couldnīt find the wap connection, and I still canīt. The only thing that is left is the WLAN connection. Where and how can i find my wap connection?

May 14, 2010I am a enthousiastic new owner of a Nokia 5800 XM. However I have a problem that ik cannot get resolved. It's about map Loader. I am able to connect my phone to teh mac using USB or Bluetooth and transfer my music and photo's using Nokia multemedia transfer and my contacts via iSync. However i am not able to update my maps using Map Loader. When I start map Loader I get a short notice of a message that the maps on my 5800 are aoutdated and that they wil have to be updated. Yes please, that is what ik really want! But then I get the following error message:
"Map catalogue loading failed." map Loader could't download the list of avaliable map regions. Possible causes include a lack of network connectivity or a problem on the maps server".
Nokia :: 5800 Bluetooth Peripheral Device Unable To Find Driver
Jan 6, 2010I recently connected my Nokia 5800 to my bluetooth connection on my Windows 7 Ultimate pc of which downloads and installs the drivers from Windows Update.This works fine for the most part but i am left with 3x Bluetooth Peripher Device enteries showing in Device Manager and a Yellow Exclimation Mark located next to the Nokia 5800 device icon in Device and Printers but i cannot seem to find out what drivers are missing, even Windows Update find nothing for these entries.I have the latest version of Ovi Suite installed on my computer but this does not install any bluetooth drivers, I have the latest drivers for my Trust 16008 Bluetooth dongle but these 3x Bluetooth Peripheral Device enteries only appear when i connect the Nokia 5800 to bluetooth. I have also tried to locate the drivers from the support CD but this fails also.
I have tried looking on Nokia Discussions for a solution but it seems i am not the only person that is having the problem with these enteries in Device Manager and no drivers for them.It seems that Nokia has not released the relevent drivers therefor full Bluetooth Driver installation is incomplete.I would like Nokia to fully rectify the situation and explain why these drivers are missing and if they will be released.

Mar 29, 2010I'm comparing to my 5530, On the contacts bar it nicely blends into the back ground, on the 5800 is a dirty oversized white block with the contact in the middle, no blending in or anything, same on the email, a horrible big white square, nothing blended in, I've tried different themes, and reflashed but no good.

Mar 25, 2010Why is this update still not available for me more than 2 months after launch? (Product code: 0575581) iPhone users get the update directly from apple on the day it is released, why can't nokia do this same. I know people on this forum keep on saying it's the mobile operators problem but it's not. Nokia have control over this just like apple have control over the iphone.
Either nokia should release the update once all of the operators have customized the software or they could release the software and give the operators 2 weeks to customize it, if the operator doesn't bother in 2 weeks, nokia should give the generic version to download.
Nokia :: 5800 + BH-503 - Mic Not Working?
Apr 14, 2010I have a 5800 XpressMusic and recently bought an BH-503 Bluetooth headset. It paired easily with my 5800 and I have no problems connecting the headset to my 5800. The sound quality is good and I enjoy listening to music on the new headset. The mic, however, doesn't work when paired with my 5800. I can hear the other guy without any problems but he cannot hear me. I've tried calling all of my friends and they obviously use loads of different mobile phones and landline phones, the result is always the same. I've tried resetting the headset - to no avail. Removing it from my 5800's Bluetooth paired devices list, then adding it again - no help. To test the mic itself, I paired the headset with my PC (a Dell XPS M1530). It paired fine - and the mic works!
It's a bit on the quiet side but it works fine, I can chat on Skype and record voice on my PC. So obviously the problem is pairing the mic with my 5800. My 5800 recently came back from Nokia after some service (wouldn't switch on, now fixed) and has firmware v. 40.something (haven't got the phone at hand right now). I have beautiful sound in the headset, all the buttons work fine and I love the headset. Everything works when paired with my PC, it's just the mic not working with my 5800. FYI, I haven't tried the 5800 with other Bluetooth headsets. Maybe my 5800 has Bluetooth problems. I guess I could go back to the store where I bought the BH-503 and ask to borrow another Bluetooth headset to check if that fixes it.

Apr 21, 2010I tried a lot of methods to solve this problem (restart, reflash, hard and soft reset, run it without memory card, put papers near the battery, changed some settings..) - anything doesn't work for me. I know that on net are a lot of topics like this one, but i think i tried all recommended solutions to solve it.. I updated my 5800XM to v50 firmware, after it was done, i started it and i enjoyed the KS, music player etc.. But after a while (like 3-4mins) my phone restarts (restart without needed to insert PIN code). I said, it's ok. But now it restarts every 3-4 mins. I found the solution - when the screen is not lighting (sleeping), it wouldn't restart. But i need to work with it, so this is useless.. Any help please?

Feb 18, 2010I bought a new Nokia 5800 xpress music last week. I upgraded the fiwmare to 40.xx and the ovi maps to 3.0.3 immediately after purchase. I see that GPS is not working atall. I can see that GPS data at the top but i am unable to get my current position. The same is working on my frineds mobile. I live in india and dont think place is a problem. I tried to get my position using GPRS as well as WLAN biut no use. Update: I just installed Google maps and its able to detect my current position! something is not right with ovi maps i guess.

Feb 7, 2010Can anyone help.... Nokia 5800 with latest firmware v40.. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Feb 5, 2010I have nokia 5800 XM with recent firmware version. Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

Mar 23, 2010I'm having major problems transferring my music to my new Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic. I have downloaded all my music onto the Ovi plalyer but when I connect my phone a message pops up on the phone asking me to select USB mode and choose between, 'PC Suite', 'Mass Storage', Image transfer', or media transfer. No matter which one I choose I can see no option on the Ovi player where |I can sync the phone and transfer my music to it (as per my ipod and itunes which is pretty straightforward!)
I'm assuming I can actually do this through Ovi player?I have managed to transfer my music onto the phone from windows media player but it saves into a 'music' folder and not onto the music player. The only way I can access this music is by going into 'applications' from the main menu, then, 'file manager' then 'memory card' then the music is listed but it's driving me mental by not being on the proper music player.

Jan 31, 2010My 5800 has been working fine for about 8 months now, recently it has been cutting out randomly. Last night it locked then froze, I turned it on and off and now it works fine but the backlight never turns off so it is constantly bright. Very annoying because it is draining the battery, and I never know when I have got a message or anything because all the button lights are always on too.

Mar 6, 2010I don't seem to be getting any 3G data connectivity on my fairly new Nokia Xpress Music 5800 Navigation Edition phone. It is only connecting via Edge. I checked with AT&T who verified that my account is provisioned for 3G data and I am easily within the coverage area since I am in NYC.
When I force the network mode to UMTS, the phone shows the 3G or 3.5G icon but there are no signal bars. Then if I force the Operator Selection to manual it sees AT&T, but when I select it I get a "No access" error message.
I understand early 5800s had a problem with 3G connectivity in NYC that was fixed with a firmware update. I'm using firmware 40.2.005.465.03.
Is there anything I can try to get 3G working or is this phone likely defective?

Mar 28, 2010Anyway, my 5800 had an infamous vertical stripes issue. I sent it to one of my local Nokia service centers. They replaced the screen. The new screen-while doesn't have the vertical stripes-looks worse than the old one (minus the vertical stripes issue that kept coming and going on the old screen). The new screen has a yellow tint to it; it becomes much more apparent when not viewing the screen from a direct angle. (In other words, white appears somewhat yellow.) Also, the new screen is somewhat blotchy (kind of like bruises); the color is uneven -- this becomes very apparent when viewing a solid colour image file. (The worse part is the top portion of the screen-about 0.8 cm in length-which appears noticeably darker than the rest.)There was also a tiny crack (about 0.2 cm in length) on the bottom of the frame surrounding the screen.OK, so I didn't complain about the yellow screen and that tiny crack when I received my 5800 back from the service center. My bad. (I was in a rush to go to a movie.) Those imperfections bugged me somewhath, but I can live with them. What I'm really upset about is that I think the GPS does not perform as well as before I sent it to the repair center.
So here's the question: How accurate is your GPS?Before my 5800 went to the service center, I'm pretty sure its GPS was pretty much spot on. But after it came back, the best it can get in term of accuracy is around 10m on a very very very very very rare occasion and 15m on very very very rare occasions. Most of the times it showed that I was about 100-150m from where I actually was. This is all when the 5800 is not moving.When I used it inside a moving car, before it went to the service center, the GPS was spot on - even without A-GPS. Now even with A-GPS and edge on, it can barely keeps up; it's like it's lagging 500 m behind and sometimes showed that the car was on the side of the road that the car was not. Sometimes, it even showed that the car was somewhere that was actually quite far from the actual position. I went back to the technician; he said that it's not hardware-related. He said it's software, because my phone still detects the satellites. So he basically flashed the firmware again-according to what he told me. He also told me to reinstall the (ovi) maps, which I did. I don't think these really fix the issue. So before I went back to the repair center, I want to know how accurate are your GPSs?
