My 5800 has been working fine for about 8 months now, recently it has been cutting out randomly. Last night it locked then froze, I turned it on and off and now it works fine but the backlight never turns off so it is constantly bright. Very annoying because it is draining the battery, and I never know when I have got a message or anything because all the button lights are always on too.

This has just started happening since yesterday the backlight will not turn off so the battery only lasts around 8 hours before running down .
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got my new 5800 xm and updated it to the latest firmware only because when I lock the phone keypad and when a new message arrives the LCD does not brightens up the phone gives only the notification sound and the led blinks and when the phone is not locked then the LCD brightens too and the sound is also heard and the phone vibrates too I had gone through the entire phone kindly tell if is there any way that we can turn on the backlight display too on when the new message or email arrives or is this the normal behavior of 5800 xm?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm comparing to my 5530, On the contacts bar it nicely blends into the back ground, on the 5800 is a dirty oversized white block with the contact in the middle, no blending in or anything, same on the email, a horrible big white square, nothing blended in, I've tried different themes, and reflashed but no good.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen in dim light the key the keypad light is not coming on when I press any key. I have looked in the manual, tried different settings for the sensor and looked at online forums. No solution exists. The only way to make it work is by blocking the sensor with your finger. Obviously this is not a good solution. Is this a malfunction or is Nokia stupid to design the phone like this? On any model of Nokia on the press of a key the keypad backlight should come on.

The keypad still lights up, and the LED screen seems to be fine.I've tried everything up to a factory restart. Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to fix it? It's really quite annoying!

Sometimes if I slide it enough times the screen is drawn correctly but only the top left corner. Other times it just sits there on a black (no backlight) screen. Any reason why it's doing this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen typing using the backlight on either Live Messenger, or writing a document on Word or a long message, the device completely freezes and blacks out, with both screens, keypads being unresponsive. I have to take the battery out and put it back in to make it work again.This has only ever happened when I'm typing with the backlight on, and for a prolonged period. Backlight function is pretty much useless right now. Background apps are not the issue, and neither is any other function.The backlight is basically useless right now.

It should work the same way as for an incoming voice call.In the meantime I'm using Best Reminder to activate the backlight after 30 seconds (reminds you every 30seconds after this point until you acknowledge the message).Is it just my phone that exhibits this behaviour or is it a common issue?

Due to its grey colour, the keys don't create a strong contrast and they are hard to read in some conditions when light is coming from a certain direction because the keypad backlight come out to soon. Especially indoor I can't read any of the keys. I'm really disappointed when after I installed the latest software upgrade this problem still exist. Is it possible to "turn off" the ambient light sensor that I'm supposing causes this problem? Have you same issue? Some workaround or fix available?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble with the backlight of my N82. I've had the handset for just about 2yrs now and less than a month ago upgraded the software to V 35.0.002. After leaving the phone to charge overnight I woke up to my the sound of the alarm going off (as per usual). However, after disarming the alarm, the backlight started flashing. Not flashing at a set frequency, but an erratic flash. I restarted the phone and even removed the battery for a few minutes, but the problem persists. I thought it may be a hardware problem, but the flashing stops while there is an active window open (e.g. while having the "deleting messages" pop-up or "refreshing the music library"). Also once the power-saver feature kicks in the backlight obviously goes off so the flashing stops.

(Product code: 0575581) iPhone users get the update directly from apple on the day it is released, why can't nokia do this same. I know people on this forum keep on saying it's the mobile operators problem but it's not. Nokia have control over this just like apple have control over the iphone.
Either nokia should release the update once all of the operators have customized the software or they could release the software and give the operators 2 weeks to customize it, if the operator doesn't bother in 2 weeks, nokia should give the generic version to download.
The backlight will not turn off at all, even when i try to lock the keyboard it comes back on. I have a curve 9320.

I have a 5800 XpressMusic and recently bought an BH-503 Bluetooth headset. It paired easily with my 5800 and I have no problems connecting the headset to my 5800. The sound quality is good and I enjoy listening to music on the new headset. The mic, however, doesn't work when paired with my 5800. I can hear the other guy without any problems but he cannot hear me. I've tried calling all of my friends and they obviously use loads of different mobile phones and landline phones, the result is always the same. I've tried resetting the headset - to no avail. Removing it from my 5800's Bluetooth paired devices list, then adding it again - no help. To test the mic itself, I paired the headset with my PC (a Dell XPS M1530). It paired fine - and the mic works!
It's a bit on the quiet side but it works fine, I can chat on Skype and record voice on my PC. So obviously the problem is pairing the mic with my 5800. My 5800 recently came back from Nokia after some service (wouldn't switch on, now fixed) and has firmware v. 40.something (haven't got the phone at hand right now). I have beautiful sound in the headset, all the buttons work fine and I love the headset. Everything works when paired with my PC, it's just the mic not working with my 5800. FYI, I haven't tried the 5800 with other Bluetooth headsets. Maybe my 5800 has Bluetooth problems. I guess I could go back to the store where I bought the BH-503 and ask to borrow another Bluetooth headset to check if that fixes it.
I have tried setting my yahoo and gmail mails with settings wizard AND nokia messaging but every time i connect i keep on getting user name + mailbox password with filled fields AND mailbox incoming mail server not found.check mailbox settings RESPECTIVELY. I tried a lot of methods to solve this problem (restart, reflash, hard and soft reset, run it without memory card, put papers near the battery, changed some settings..) - anything doesn't work for me. I know that on net are a lot of topics like this one, but i think i tried all recommended solutions to solve it.. I updated my 5800XM to v50 firmware, after it was done, i started it and i enjoyed the KS, music player etc.. But after a while (like 3-4mins) my phone restarts (restart without needed to insert PIN code). I said, it's ok. But now it restarts every 3-4 mins. I found the solution - when the screen is not lighting (sleeping), it wouldn't restart. But i need to work with it, so this is useless.. Any help please?
