Nokia :: 5230 Pocket Internet Connection / Aircel / Couldnt Use Map Option
Aug 20, 2010
I have 5230 purchased tow months back. I am having pocket internet connection activated from Aircel. With this connection I could not use the maps option since I am getting 'no connection' reply. When I contacted the cc of Aircel the asked me to send one sms "GPRS BP NOK 5230". If I send this sms I am immediately getting a reply message stating that "Your request could not be complied since your hand set is not compatible for GPRS setting". Pl clarify whether it is true that 5230 is not a compatible hand set for GPRS or tell me how to get Gprs activated to my hand set.
I have recently purchased a Nokia 5230 and memory card, great no probs, just wanted a photo printing off, the photo shop man couldn't get my memory card out of the mobile and obviously didn't want to force it. (bluetooth from my phone for whatever reason wouldn't work in his shop).
I came home and tried to remove it and had the same problem, the card will come out so far and then it is stuck I tried with tweezers but it still wouldn't budge after a bit of force. Help!! Any solution apart from taking it back to the shop I bought it from? Should the phone be off or on while I am trying to remove the card?
1. Can I see what country maps I have downloaded & saved on my N97 anywhere? 2. Whenever I went on the internet with my N95, I had a option how I wished to connect - my netgear router or Mobile web etc.
With N97, It chooses which one I have set on priority, but sometimes I dont want that one. Can I have it so that it asks me everytime I connect like N95?
Does Nokia 5230 have video calling option? Before I bought it, the store told me that it's one pf those phones who doesn't have a secondary camera, but it does have video calling. Is that possible and is that the case with this phone? It's actually one of the reasons that I bought it, so I'm kind of disappointed I can't find a way to use it.
Video Call Time up to 3.0 hours.so I'd expect it does have it.
Is it important that I bought it here in Slovenia?
I recently purchased a Nokia 5230 Nuron through T-mobile. I love using it for Facebook with the included app however I've noticed that there isn't an option to upload a picture with my status update. Is there a way to do this with this model phone?
I found that even if I set Ovi maps to "offline", it still sends and receives packet data while the gps is in use. I started a route and after stopping it, I checked the "Log' and I can see more data send and received recorded. I do not have a data plan and would like to know if I am incurring charges in this case. I have a-gps and gps set, so I'm guessing these packets might be due to a-gps? Without a-gps and with gps alone the performance will be pretty bad, right? I have t-mobo and nokia 5230.
When I connect my 5230 to my laptop via the usb, the laptop thinks "device not recognized", do I need to change my laptop settings or phone setting ? Try not to blind me with science.
I just got my invoice today and it claims that a lot of times I used the internet, while I only allowed the GPS to use the internet once. What can be the reason for this? How can I make sure my phone does not try to use the GPRS connection?I noticed in the GPS settings that A-GPS is used. Does that use an internet connection?
After installing Nokia messaging on my Nokia 5230 phone, I'm trying to setup a gmail account, After giving the username and password, It says contacting email-server but nothing happens. Its an endless wait. But somtimes it pops up a message saying that I have exceeded the maximum number of connections terminate existing connection.
Since I've had success on my last query I have another now. I have a Vodafone VBH-600, aka 6xx plantronics bluetooth headset and I cannot get it to pair with the 5230-"device not found" is all I get. Is it not compatible or like last problem is there just a simple solution?
I have the following annoyng problem with my new Nokia 5230. After I powerup the phone, in about 30 seconds it starts connecting to internet without having any application running. Even when I try to disconnect the opened connection, it reconnects back by itself in about 1-2 seconds.Could you advice me what should be done in order not to have this "automatic" data connection at startup?
I am facing 2 problems in 5230 1. not able to create new profile, when clicking the "create new" option it is showing the existing profiles only. 2. E-mail notification option not showing under settings > personal > homescreen this all happend after I have restore my phone to factory settings.
Can I have internet acess in my Nokia 5230 from my PC, where is internet DSL, via USB cabel or Bluetooth. E.g.: Bluetooth, I have read, that N5230 supports only Bluetooth DUN, not LAN.Is it possible to use Bluetooth DUN in Nokia 5230 to connect to PC via USB Bluetooth adapter with DUN capability to share PC internet in mobile? Why? I do not have any gprs, edge in my mobile, therefore I want to share internet from my PC.
this is strange question, but since 5230 do not have wi fi is they any software which can turn wi fi on for 5230?and how can i use my broadband internet through my computer by usb cable in nokia 5230, so that i dont have to buy any internet package from my mobile company?
Is there any procedure through which i can literally download OVI apps & stuffs directly to my Nokia 5230 using my PC Internet via USB Connection. Nokia 5230 doesn't have WiFi connectivity unlike Nokia 5800. So each time i need to download them through the GPRS which has premium charges for each download.
I'm trying to use my phone using a car-kit CK3100. Devices are recognizing each other but the problem is that cannot stay connected more than 5-6 seconds. After connection they are disconnecting and so on. What can be the problem? Did somebody else experience a similar problem?
Whenever I turn my phone on, within a few seconds it has connected to the internet, which is draining my phone credit. I've tried changing the following: Settings -> Connectivity -> Admin Settings -> Packet Data -> When Needed / When Available but this doesn't make a difference. And within minutes of going through Settings -> Connectivity -> Connection Manager. The WAP has reconnected.
I bought a Nokia 5230 for my wife a few days ago (neither of us know a great deal about mobile phones) and whenever the phone is on, it seems to connect to the Internet, which uses up all our talk time (we don't yet have a contract with a phone company). We have tried all the settings to keep the Internet disconnected, but it still seems to be happening? This is really infuriating!

Device: Nokia 5230 Provider: 02 Pay as you go (Text and web, unlim text and internet)
First problem:Updating my device; When I try to update my device, it hangs for a few seconds on 'connecting', then I get a connection error. I can connect to the net easy enough, but not update my device.
Second problem.Installing Ebuddy;I've downloaded the popular social networking application to my phone, but when it comes to installing it, i get the error message saying "CONNECTION FAILED! Your internet settings must be activated for Java applications, or try again later.
I have a song that i downloaded from the Ovi music store and transfered it to my Nokia 5230. It stated that i did not have the correct license to listen to it and that i should try to get it over air. It then leads me onto the internet where i have to enter in my Ovi store username and password, i enter in the correct details but it tells me that i need to allow cookies to access the next page, the only problem is that i have already allowed cookies, why does it not recognize this?
I have a Nokia 5230 which I have updated the maps via Ovi suite on my PC,. However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc.
how do you disconnect a 5230 from the internet when you have finished browsing but want to keep the phone on??? I've resorted to turning it off which is a pain. There must be a simpler way I can't find a disconnect button in the menus I've been looking at. It was simple on my old nokia.
I bought a new BB bold 9000 a week ago and subscribed to one day BIS plan for Rs 14. I used it for one day smoothly. Registered my device, setup up my email, browsed on internet and used various applications. Then i did not use BIS for 2 days. After two days i again subscribed for 1 day BIS plan but nothing is working now. My network shows i am subscribed but the service status show BIS is not connected.
