View 1 RepliesFrequently, a couple of seconds after ending a call with someone on my 5800, the screen is filled with the message "packet data connection active" for a moment. The message won't go away by clicking on the screen. The only way to force it away is by clicking the red button, but that would also take me away from whatever menu or application I was at, so I'd prefer not to do that. Also, I don't want to change to connectivity settings per se, (as seen in, for example, this topic: [URL]). Rather, is there any way to disable just the message?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently brought a Nokia 5230 and I have a contract that allows picture messaging. The problem I have is if I try to send a picture message I keep getting the same message:'Packet Data: - Packet Data connection not available'.It's the same for connecting to the internet, has anybody else experienced this or can tell me how to resolve the problem please.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn a fairly regular basis, once an hour approx, my N86 beeps and a message appears on the screen stating that a " data packet connection received". This also happens when I'm on a call and beeps in my ear. This is only a minor annoyance but an annoyance nevertheless. Any idea what this is and what I can do about it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia N97 and carrier service through AT&T. I subscribe to a monthly packet data plan which I have been using with my N97 for several months without issue. Several days ago my phone was no longer able to connect to the internet using my packet data connection. I was only unable to use the data connection with certain applications. The data connection would not work with the Ovi Store shortcut, Nokia Maps, the Nokia Web application, or the AP News widget. However, I was able to receive emails on Nokia Messaging through my data connection, and I was able to run my Fring application on it as well. I performed a hard reset which did not fix the problem.
I tried to adjust my network mode under the connectivity setting from Dual Mode to GSM, but that also did not have any effect. I then tried to run the setting wizard through phone setup to have it define my operator settings for internet, ect. After the wizard updated my settings I am now able to access the internet through the Nokia web application using my data connection. But maps and the ovi store still cannot connect using this connection.I have tried changing the connection settings under the maps application, but this has made no difference. Any help or advice would be very appreciated.
I have a 5800 on Virgin with a contract that says I only pay for the internet on days that I use it. However the phone is making 4 connections per hour on it's own so I am paying even when I don't surf. A message relating to "packet Data Connection activated"(or on hold) appears on the phone regularly. Can anybody tell me what it is and how to stop it. (virgin can't seem to help).
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a N73, I have a mail account on Google. I created a mailbox in my phone, configured it with all settings. I enabled Automatic email retrieval and the interval time was 2 hrs. All worked fine. I got the notification in first run. I noticed that my packet data connection was active for whole day, in result phone battery was consumed too early.
I just want to know these two things:
1. Why the packet data connection is active all time? Cant it active only on the retrieval hours. Not in the idle position?
2. Why the email alert notifications has just stopped showing NEW EMAIL
I am just missing my important mails due to this problem of notification.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to update my N8 to Anna. Like many others, Anna 1/2 failed. So I tried restore to factory default and reinstall Anna. It worked fine. But for the past two days, I notice some problems with my phone which were not here before. ( I am in US, BTW) Extreamely short battery life. Before anna, I only needs to charge my phone every 2 days. Now, a full battery can only last for, T-Mobile 3G/Data keeps failing. Once in a while, I have to restart my phone because T-Mobile service failed. no connect. can not get online, or make phone calls. I have to restart my phone to get service back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen a Packet Data connection is ended, it doesn't get recorded in Log list. As a result, I can't get Info of Data sent and received in the session. However, I can view Missed Calls, Dialed Calls, Received Calls, Incoming and Outgoing SMS. This problem has started since I updated my Phone Software to Version 022.014 (Release Date 2011-07-05).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI found that even if I set Ovi maps to "offline", it still sends and receives packet data while the gps is in use. I started a route and after stopping it, I checked the "Log' and I can see more data send and received recorded. I do not have a data plan and would like to know if I am incurring charges in this case. I have a-gps and gps set, so I'm guessing these packets might be due to a-gps? Without a-gps and with gps alone the performance will be pretty bad, right? I have t-mobo and nokia 5230.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just updated my E7 to Symbian Anna. But after that, any packet data connections for internet access are not listed in the log anymore. I have set off any filters. Prior to the Anna update, this was working fine.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on a call people tend to get some sort of interference It seems like my packet data connection remains active and I'm sure that's what's causing it.Is there a way to disable the connection while on a call, I know its meant to do that but I don't seem to get notifications that the connection is being disabled.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering what this is.I think I don't need it being as I don't have a "Data Package" set up with AT&T...am I right?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the following annoyng problem with my new Nokia 5230. After I powerup the phone, in about 30 seconds it starts connecting to internet without having any application running. Even when I try to disconnect the opened connection, it reconnects back by itself in about 1-2 seconds.Could you advice me what should be done in order not to have this "automatic" data connection at startup?
View 8 Replies View Relatedsince the last FW update the data connection is always on is connects automatically after manually disconnection it. It is creating around 200 to 300MB of traffic per day.Checking in the connection manager it is the App Messaging.Checking with the App "DataWatch" the application neasserver creates the traffic. It could be somehow linked with the Exchange Mail client?
View 2 Replies View Relatedown a Nokia C5-00 since one week.My question(s): When using Maps the phone is always building up a packet data connection.1. Why?. I think it should be enough to use the integrated GPS-Signal (even if it takes a bit longer to find my position sometimes)2. Where can i durable shutdown this function?. I have changed all settings in the way that the phone should ask before building any connections, but that doesnt work. The phone is used in a rate model where i am one out of three members and that since bout 8 years. Im afraid that data costs are not really cheap in this "old" rate
View 19 Replies View RelatedThere seems to be a problem with the map upgrade. The data connection always goes on if I use the internet. Just browsing turns the data connection always on. I have been unable to find a fix for this. Unless I just reboot the phone or terminate the data link manually. There is no reason for this to happen. I am not running any program in the background that I can see that demands constant data connection. If it was, I would have disabled it long time ago.
But just browsing the internet seems to turn on the constant data connection. From what I can best tell. This started after I upgraded to the newest versions of map. It is my suspicion this has something to do with the new software that checks the location of the phone to gather information about local events. But I cannot find that program anywhere running to terminate it once it starts. But it is visible in the program add menu on where widget can be added to the home screen.
I recently bought the Nokia 7230 unlocked in Germany because it really appealed to me in terms of features and the right price. When I returned home to the US and dropped in my AT&T SIM card, everything works okay except for any packet data or internet connection. Whenever I try to access any sort of data connection, it shows "Subscribe to Packet data". I have an unlimited Data plan with AT&T which allows internet access. Now, I wasn't expecting a perfectly smooth transition bringing a Europe-market phone to the US where the 7230 isn't even sold. After a 3-way phone call with AT&T and Nokia USA, they felt that because I could not edit or add Access point settings and AT&T doesn't sell the 7230, there was no way to make the packet data connection work.Does that conclusion sound right? It's not a huge setback to lose internet but I was looking forward to the upgrade in internet capabilities from my previous 6350.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone can assist with this. I have an N86 running the latest v30.9 firmware. I have set the default connection in Settings > Connections > Destinations to 'Always Ask'. However, I have noticed that my phone is still connecting to the internet (3G connected icon showing on the standby screen) even when no other programs are runing (according to a long 'Menu' press). When I receive a call I get a message on screen advising that the packet data connection is on hold. 'Packet data active' shown on screen when the call ends. The log also shows the internet connection is being made and maintained often for hours on end, e.g. through the night. Although the amount of data being sent and received is relatively small, this is still a concern for the future if I'm ever roaming or on a metered tariff. Any help to resolve this is much appreciated.
