Nokia :: 5230 Internet Disconnect When Finished Browsing / Want To Keep Phone On
Jul 5, 2010
how do you disconnect a 5230 from the internet when you have finished browsing but want to keep the phone on??? I've resorted to turning it off which is a pain. There must be a simpler way I can't find a disconnect button in the menus I've been looking at. It was simple on my old nokia.
I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to swtich the internet settings from rogers to bell.I have an htc dream phone - A rogers phone but have a bell contract.he phone is unlocked and I have a data package.
Can I have internet acess in my Nokia 5230 from my PC, where is internet DSL, via USB cabel or Bluetooth. E.g.: Bluetooth, I have read, that N5230 supports only Bluetooth DUN, not LAN.Is it possible to use Bluetooth DUN in Nokia 5230 to connect to PC via USB Bluetooth adapter with DUN capability to share PC internet in mobile? Why? I do not have any gprs, edge in my mobile, therefore I want to share internet from my PC.
this is strange question, but since 5230 do not have wi fi is they any software which can turn wi fi on for 5230?and how can i use my broadband internet through my computer by usb cable in nokia 5230, so that i dont have to buy any internet package from my mobile company?
Is there any procedure through which i can literally download OVI apps & stuffs directly to my Nokia 5230 using my PC Internet via USB Connection. Nokia 5230 doesn't have WiFi connectivity unlike Nokia 5800. So each time i need to download them through the GPRS which has premium charges for each download.
Whenever I turn my phone on, within a few seconds it has connected to the internet, which is draining my phone credit. I've tried changing the following: Settings -> Connectivity -> Admin Settings -> Packet Data -> When Needed / When Available but this doesn't make a difference. And within minutes of going through Settings -> Connectivity -> Connection Manager. The WAP has reconnected.
I bought a Nokia 5230 for my wife a few days ago (neither of us know a great deal about mobile phones) and whenever the phone is on, it seems to connect to the Internet, which uses up all our talk time (we don't yet have a contract with a phone company). We have tried all the settings to keep the Internet disconnected, but it still seems to be happening? This is really infuriating!

When disconnecting an active call, the phone does not disconnect. It stays connected for another 5~ 10 seconds and need to press the disconnect button few times to come out of the call. Has anybody gone through this and is there a solution?
I have a song that i downloaded from the Ovi music store and transfered it to my Nokia 5230. It stated that i did not have the correct license to listen to it and that i should try to get it over air. It then leads me onto the internet where i have to enter in my Ovi store username and password, i enter in the correct details but it tells me that i need to allow cookies to access the next page, the only problem is that i have already allowed cookies, why does it not recognize this?
I have a Nokia 5230 which I have updated the maps via Ovi suite on my PC,. However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc.
I have just had a Nokia C7 everything is great other than when I connect to the internet via an application such as ovi store, email, facebook etc when I exit the application the phone does not disconnect automatically, I have to manually disconnect via connection settings myself. Sometimes In forget to do this and run up a lot usage.
I have 5230 purchased tow months back. I am having pocket internet connection activated from Aircel. With this connection I could not use the maps option since I am getting 'no connection' reply. When I contacted the cc of Aircel the asked me to send one sms "GPRS BP NOK 5230". If I send this sms I am immediately getting a reply message stating that "Your request could not be complied since your hand set is not compatible for GPRS setting". Pl clarify whether it is true that 5230 is not a compatible hand set for GPRS or tell me how to get Gprs activated to my hand set.
This isn't a major issue either but something that keeps bothering me.I recently acquired the nokia 6700 slide phone to replace my older samsung slide phone. So far I'm fairly satisfied with the 6700 and the functions and applications suits my needs. There is however one thing which I haven't been able to change nor do I know if it is possible to change.my old samsung slide, when browsing the menus and applications, closing the slide would automatically close the menu or application I was using and return the phone to the home screen. In 6700, it doesn't close the application or menu that I'm browsing but rather keeps it open in the background as long as I manually navigate away from the menu or application. I know that the power button returns you to your home screen but is it possible to change the slide setting so that simply closing the slide would automatically close the menu or application and return the phone to the home screen? This is not a major issue but I still find it irritating since I'm used to just closing the slide to be able to see the home screen the next time I open it. Do I just have to get used to pushing the power button to get back to the home screen before closing the slide?
if i don't want to get the internet services while travelling (because of the big cost) how can i discconet my blackberry bold 9700 so it won't download automatic mails and won't look for updates on the mobile internet?
Torch 9850OS 7.0.0 When someone calls me and I'm on the internet, my phone just rings on their end and it doesn't show anything on mine. Then I'll get a voicemail notification from whoever just called.I have never had this issue before with a BB and I've had 6.
I want to know what happens when I press "home" key while browsing internet. Are the page (activity) is sent to background or the browser is terminated?
Recently my Bold 9700 has been having browser issues! If I try to open a link off a webpage or facebook/twitter, it comes up with "insuffeicent data coverage" or whatever, even though I have full 3G and full Wifi! Also if I try to open a bookmark, or even google, it just sits requesting and then fails to load! I've done many a reboot, deleted wifi router and re added with no luck! Also its affecting the Facebook/Twitter app and won't load new posts.
whenever I try to open internet through wifi..it shows me error of no network coverage and later it shows "mobile data connection to internet has been turned off.Go to settings> connectivity>mobile data to turn it on back. Means, in my cell now internet browsing is only possible when mobile data is turn on.
I Connect to wifi with Excellent signal but no internet browsing. Can't go to google play or browse internet. Have tried all the tips available over the net but no luck....like using static ip, clearing the cache etc etc.
I have recently bought a Motorola Flipout unlocked. I am with a UK network on Pay As You Go. The proble I have is I'm a complete rookie when it comes to technology. Basically I have a wifi network at home, but when out and about my phone has been automatically connecting to 'the internet' when I'm surfing the web etc, looking at the news and social networks. This has meant that I'm using a lot of money in topping up my credit. I have been reading the forum and I've now changed my Wifi sleep policy to never, enabled a data saver, disabled background data, and ensured data roaming was off, and 'synced over wifi only'. I just would like some advice really as all I want is to keep up to date with emails etc when I actively want to see if I have any rather than the phone constantly updating and charging me.
I have got the latest software on the phone. Internet keeps freezing and I have to restart the phone at least once a day. I only browse a straight forward forum and facebook so it should be able to cope. I could never watch you tube or any web site with a lot of pictures. I have deleted cookies/history etc. Is it my internet connection that makes the phone freeze or is it the phone itself.
Is there a way to have the time displayed when I am browsing or on the internet? Now I only have the name of the site I am viewing whether I am on Edge or 3G and my signal.
