Motorola Photon 4G :: Downloaded Update Fine But Will Not Load?
Aug 8, 2012
I have a Photon that I purchased new March 2012 with 45.3.6. I have never rooted however the update to 45.4.13 will not load. I have done factory reset, both from settings and hard reset. It will download the update fine, it just gets the triangle!. At about 1/4 of the way to updating then will restart and say update failed. I have tried more then 10+ times and nothing works. I even took it to 2 different Sprint stores and they couldn't get it to work also. They wanted to charge me to do anything more to the phone. I haven't been able to get the info on holding the volume up and down key, it goes away too fast.
I woke up today to find a download in the notification list on my Photon. It was stuck at 14% for a good amount of time, so I powered it off and on again.I came on here and found out that an update had been released so I went into my Settings About phone and tried to update the Motorola Software, and now I'm getting the message in the subject.I've tried Googling the problem, tried clearing caches, etc, but I still can't download the update manually.
having an issue where notification sounds stop working after my photon has been on for 12 to 18 hours. The phone will still vibrate and function fine except for ringing or letting me know about alert/alarms. I am on the latest firmware 45.4.13 but this issue has been ongoing for the past 3 firmware upgrades I have done. I have done factore resets multiple times and ran nothing but stock apps for a full month but it contnues to happen. Honestly it does not bother me to remember to reboot by phone each night but i have missed two VERY important calls because I was in another room and did not hear it ring.
So I noticed in Chrome the virtual keyboard doesn't load in portrait mode. Also I noticed that the qwerty keyboard is unable to capitialize letters. also function button seems to be disabled making signing into anything in chrome virtually impossible.
I downloaded a couple of new apps last night to help me manage my Photon a bit tighter. I downloaded Sleep Silencer (turns ringer off at night) as well as Easy Profiles (same idea - allows me to change profiles quickly so I can give my wife some rest from the notifications/ringer after 11pm). Also downloaded a new app I'd never seen before called UltimateFavs Pro Free (a nifty carousel of apps via double clicked Home button).
Well...one of these apps is now causing an issue I have no idea how to resolve. The Home/Desktop screen is black/blank. Nothing I do will get it back up again. However, everything is still working...all my notifications are coming in...but I can't read them...phone is ringing...but I cannot answer
I'm looking for a way to boot into "SAFE MODE" so I whatever process is downloading at bootup will STOP and let me get to the Home screen. Once I do that, I'll delete these apps 1 at a time until I find the one causing it.
I've looked on this thread and cannot find the steps to boot into Safe Mode. I think it's Volume Down while turning on handset, but that gets me to FastBoot and I'm not sure what that is?
i bought a photon at best buy today, carried it around for a while, installed the netflix app, brought it home, plugged it in, and after i tell it to install the system update, it downloads, i click install, and it shuts down immediately, starts itself back up, and then as soon as everything comes back up, i get a message that says update has failed. this has happened 3 times now, downloaded on wi-fi
So now I still cannot use MMS or carrier internet and the latest software update will not run, it can be downloaded but after running it 12 times it indicates update was unsuccessful. Is there anyway of reflashing the whole phone to start from scratch.
Whenever I load Map Loader, I can never tell which maps I have already downloaded. Even when I finish downloading, there is no confirmation if anything was successfull. How can I check the regions that I already have and which versions I am on? It gets confusing to see new versions of maps being reported and me just unsure if I should take the time to redownload.
Tried to update yesterday, downloaded and tried to install. Phone reboots and I get an android guy with an exclamation mark. When phone restarts, a notification pops up saying the update was not installed.
Have tried may times in the last two weeks and everytime I get an error that the update failed to install. Below is the error logged when pushing up vol+down vol at the update screen.
Someone told me I could remove (rename) the downloaded update file, but I can't find anything that looks like it might be it. I'm using windows Explorer to view files on my int memory. Yesterday, my phone issued an alert that it had already downloaded the file, and now it wants me to install it.
I was curious to see if there was an update for it and went to its page in the market and it says its not available for my carrier?I kept getting the little yellow triangle.
I have noticed that the volume is low after last update, when i first got the phonw it was loud and clear. After the update i can hardly here the alamr anymore. My ringtones are low as well, even playing back music. Is anybody else having this issue, any suggestions?.
One more thing, i also tested it out, by going to the sprint store checking the floor model and comparing it to mine, it was way louder and didnt have the latest update.
The % has not moved for over an hour now. I'm on a decent LTE connection and USB power. I'm hoping I don't have to start over, it took almost 2 hours to get that far.
After the last update to 45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en.US (4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6) my 4G signal does not stay active but for a minute then it ZZZ out and/or I lose data. Have to revert to 3G. One time I could not turn it on at all until a reboot. No error messages no other issues.
I guess I'll await the next update but it is annoying. a 4G phone that rarely runs as 4G lately.
in the other thread it was asked that we make individual threads for each ota update error. The one i am experiencing is for the file/system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.apk failing validation. It claims that the "assert failed" at this file.I just bought this and haven't modded anything or even know how too. I did however buy the lapdock and it will be at my door in a couple days, i really want this update so it works.also it fails with status
I've tried installing the official Motorola update 4 times and every time it is unsuccessful. The update says it is available for download, then downloads and asks to be installed. I choose to install it and the phone reboots. It then goes to the progress screen, gets to about 40%, and then shows the triangle with exclamation mark inside of it. Then the phone reboots and pops up a message saying update failed.
I have done 2 full factory updates (erased all memory), called Sprint, talked to a Motorola level 2 tech, and gotten nothing. No one has even tried to troubleshoot this issue or recommend anything.
why wifi was working when the update came down and now it refuses to work? I press the toggle to turn on wifi and I am greeted with "error" in little letters under it.you managed to actually make this useless to me down here! B/C the SIM/APN issue was screwed up I was running my data over a mifi type device down here and now you've made the phone useless!and yes I have now rebooted multiple times after the "must have update" that you forced onto my phone with no warning?
I have read the discussions to date and it seems there is no answer for this install update problem or I missed it. what the fix is for this and if there isn't one is Motorola working on one.
Well after installing the new update that came out yesterday my phone's data no longer works.3G dead.4G dead.Only wifi works.I have rebooted twice and still nothing.
I just installed the 45.2.7.MB855 update on my Sprint Photon 4G and now both my WiFi and 4G wont turn on. When I go into Wireless & Network Settings and click on WiFi, all it says is Error and nothing happens. When I try to turn in 4G nothing seems to happen.I am able to turn on Bluetooth and 3G took a couple of Profile updates to get working.
I got the OTA update today, and when I downloaded it, my battery was fully charged. When the update was installed and the phone rebooted, the battery was down under 10% and is taking forever to charge. Is this a bad side effect of today's update or did the battery somehow get fried during the update process?
Running 45.4.13 with Voicemail App Version T.5.2.0.26, I have the following issue:
1. I get voicemails 2. When I try to retrieve the voicemail I cannot play it and an errors pops saying "Unable to Play" 3. I have to reboot the phone in order to retrieve voicemail. 4. I do get a dialog that something about verifying account information.
I don't have any third party apps installed related to voicemail. This behavior started happening after the update.
It broke my phone... I can no longer turn on 4G or turn on the wireless. I found this out within 5 minutes of installing the update.I have not played with the phone enough to find out if it broke anything else. I press the buttons, or icons on the screen to turn these on, and they do nothing. I can hold on the icon and it will allow you to move them though
Is there a setting to allow a caller to be heard through the vehicle speakers while not muting the microphone?
The reason I ask is when I connect the Photon to the vehicle navigation dock it defaults the calls to speakerphone (not the vehicle speakers) and if I turn the speakerphone off the caller can be heard through the car speakers BUT the caller cannot hear me.
I am using a Photon on Sprint's 3G EVDO network. When I open the Settings application, and click on the option to check for Motorola software update, the following screen is displayed: "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later." When I am on a Wi-Fi network, a similar message is displayed (no screenshot): "Your device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time." Can somebody please provide more information as to what specifically is causing the message in my screenshot below to appear?
I just wanted confirmation as to whether or not Photon users who are affected by the failed update can utilize the Lapdock 100 still (as one of the things stated in the update was Lapock support). I would figure that we should still be able to use the dock because the other docks have been out for a while now and they too use webtop, however I wanted to be sure before I purchased the dock if possible (as I want to pick up the dock as soon as possible).
So about half an hr ago i got a prompt to update my phone to (45.2.5.en.US) and it installed successfully, then I had problems with WiFi and so restarted my phone, now when I try to access any app that requires WiFi it seems as though it doesn't read it. The browser works fine, but any other app doesn't.
After I update the PRL on this phone my 3G data stops working for anywhere between 1 minute and 5 minutes. It's like the phone completely loses contact with the EVDO network for up to 5 minutes before it wakes up and finds the signal again. Never happened on previous phones. Another firmware bug? Not a big deal but thought it was worth mentioning.
