Motorola Motoactv :: Calibration Doesn't Last Full Two Minutes?
Jan 1, 2012
Is anyone else having an issue with calibration for pedometer or running? It always starts saying you will walk/jog/run for two minutes, but my Motoactv has been inconsistent, mostly counting down from 120 but then ending with around 70 or 60 seconds left.
Motoactv website seems to be showing all the information about the run (distance, time, pace) correctly. However the map is totally wrong. It only shows about the last mile of my run. Anyone know if there is any way to show that data?
I got the motoactv for Christmas. I tried the treadmill calibration and like others indicated it didn't last the 2 full minutes. I have ran twice since and it doesn't work at all. I ran for 1.5 miles at a 5.2 mph and it recorded a .86 run and the mph was no where near 5.2. It basically said I was going about 2.5 mph. When I look at my graph, about half the time it didn't have me moving or moving at about 1 mph!.
I want to try and recalibrate it - where can I delete my original calibration so I can try again? Also, is there anyway to edit my run to put in the correct mileage? I don't see any edit functionality.
Tried to callibrate MA for indoor running;Did what the prompts said -- however, it says for the 1st 2-mins. run easy -- my MA DID NOT let me go for the total 2-mins...tried a couple of times and it usually cut me off at about 1-min?When I look at my workouts OF COURSE the paces are off because it didn't calibrate...I saw that I could "correct" the distance on the MA, but how can I go to my MA.com and enter in the laps column my actual splits..ie., 1-mile??
I actually Don't track calories but was wondering why this indoor workout said 0 calories burned? I DID wear my HR monitor...(Incidentally, I have a new NordicTrack treadmill AND the calories burned compared to my Garmin AND the MA (when I got calories from outdoor run) were ALL completely different..by a lot).I enetered the same data for all 3 re. weight, etc...
I had an interesting experience after the update on my run today. Up to now my MOTOACTV has been fine, but today I had the music just stop several times mid-workout and it would not start again for several minutes despite pressing the "music" button quickly or even going to the music screen and pressing the play button. Within a few minutes of trying, however, it would start back up like normal. Also, my heart rate monitor was dropped once, but "sef-healed" and it seemed to be about 10-15 bpm off from normal at times. (This could be a low battery on the hrm, so I'll replace that and try again).
Can we get the ability to set the timer in seconds as well as minutes and hours? I do super-sets at the gym with 15 sec rest intervals and it would be awesome if I could use the timer to count from 15 secs down. Currently it appears the shortest time I can set the device to is 1 min.
I have a problem with my touch screen. It works for 1 or 2 minutes and then it stops working for 2 or 3 minutes, this is a loop ! if I don't use for a couple of hours it will work more, about 15 minutes and then stops working !!! whats wrong with may iphone, which part is damaged ?:(( when touch screen stops working, all keys work correctly, home key & others )
I'm looking at getting a Garmin 410. I'm not familiar with the different versions of Garmin. I currently have the Motoactv. What can the Garmin do compared to the Motoactv. I know the Garmin doesn't play music and doesn't have a fancy touch screen.
Kudos to the designer who made the Full Screen Battery Meter you get when you plug it in using the wall charger after it has shut down due to depleted battery. I don't know if this has always been there or if you also get it if you plug it in to your computer after a full discharge or when you plug it in to the wall charger after you power off (without depleting the battery fully). But it sure is a nice touch - a really smooth animated battery meter that fills the entire screen for the little over an hour that it takes to charge from 0% to 100%. Well done, Team MotoACTV
Can Anybody please tell me why my MOTOACTV doesn't like to connect to GPS? My distances and times are WAY off. I would estimate that 30% of my runs have connected. I tried today, with a clear shot of the sky without a cloud to be seen and it wouldn't work. I wasn't moving and have the MOTOACTV on my arm. I waited for 2 full cycles while it tried to connect. I am sick of it. The time is set correctly on the unit to Daylight Central Time. It is giving me the correct time. The portal doesn't seem to have the option for a Daylight Central Time. It should still work. I am really getting fed up of the chats with support, only to be told I need to call and have it taken care of. I even told Matt about this a couple of weeks ago. I got no response from him. What is going on with this? When it works, it works well. If this wasn't a gift, I would return it and hope for a better outcome with a new one (no receipt).
My motoactv will not connect with Motorola Media Link via Motocast. It gives me an error message that says that the program has stopped working and shuts down the Motorola Media Link from syncing. Any word on what the problem could be? I have ripped and re-installed the program several times only to see Motorola Media Link work once.
I just got a MOTOACTV last month, use it as a fit trainer and never use the music function. Few days ago I want try listen some music but it can not play! No reaction at all! Also FM radio, show "No Signal". I try reset factory and change the headphone but still have this problem.
When i click on the Recent Workouts tab (under Workouts) it just has the loading icon (the guy running) and that's it. I'm no scientist, but i'm pretty sure that's not how it should be working. For any developers looking at this, i've attached the outgoing and incoming data which includes the error that is occuring.I've checked with a friend using their account and they don't have the same problem -- it works fine for them.
These images show that the summary just above the graph doesn't match the information shown or the map. This happens with every multi-activity workout.
Discovered something annoying today - the touch screen doesn't respond when it gets even slightly cold. It's 46F here today and during my short run, the screen stopped responding to touch. After coming indoors for just a minute or so, it's working fine.I couldn't stop my workout right away, though, so my measurements are off - that's the annoying bit. Has anyone had similar issues?
After over 2 monhts heavy usavge, I'm quite happy with my E72 so far, except for some memory leak issues.I did get a bit annoyed by the fact that the auto-lock feature cannot be set for more than 20 minutes. One of the resons I got the E72 was the strong RAM+Card encryption but I expected it to be a bit more flexible. It is true that having a forced lock timeout helps protect your device (you'd forget to lock it sometimes) but there are certain occasions where I find this extremely annoying. For instance:
-When I am at home I find no need to have it locked all the time.
-When I am at work and the phone is always next to me, I find annoying that it auto-locks every 20 minutes when I'm using it as an audio player - makes you have to unlock when you want to interact
-In certain applications, it is annoying that it autolocks and you can't interact. One example is Sygic Mobile GPS software that crashes when it locks. With other software it would be annoying too as you'd be locked and unable to interact with the phone in any trip taking longer than 20 minutes. So I have two suggestions
-Make the maximum lock delay a bit longer - for instance 60 minutes.
and/or
Give us an option similar to what you get in timed Profiles, for instance, "Stay unlocked until hh:mm" - This would be handy when you're home and well... no one is going to steal your phone/access it/lose it.
my new (3 weeks old or so) MAXX's compass until today. The compass worked flawlessly. I never had tried to calibrate it. Then, while driving home today with Google Maps, Maps suddenly noted that my compass wasn't calibrated and asked me to calibrate it. Now, the compass is off by 10-80 degrees as I turn around. I tried re-calibrating again with GPS Status and got the same result. The compass calibration routine on the MAXX is broken. I don't know if this is a Google Android issue or a MAXX issue. Is there any way to reset the compass calibration to default values?

The solution offered by fletc33, which I assume closed the discussion, does not relate to the problem the original post talks about nor does it offer a solution. The problem we have has to do with the compass on Google Maps. it is not a frozen compass, or calibration of the compass. it has to do with the compass being off in Google Maps and the degree of the deviation varies erratically. The problem in not that the compass is off by some degrees, or that it is frozen, the problem is that the the compass is going all over the map when in google maps.
I have researched this problem for a couple of month, reading posts (here and on other forums) about this and similar problems and I'm yet to find a solution to this specific issue.I am going to take a short video of my phone rrunning google map to better illustrate the problema, nd post it to this thread.
I just recieved a warranty replacement DX2 yesterday. So far, it is a neat phone and I am quite pleased. However, I am unable to fiind the selection to calibrate the compass. In my old Droid X it was in Menu>Settings>Location & Security>Calibrate Compass. Now, Calibrate Compass is no longer there.Perhaps the DX2 compass doesn't require calibration.
When the watch is switched on, the "wake up device" function works fine. However, after the watch has been on for a certain period the "wake up device" function doesn't work. Has anyone come across such issue?
Since updating to 4.55.97 on my 8GB it doesn't seem to Auto-Resume after an Auto-Pause. This worked before, but on my run today it Auto-Paused at two stop lights when I stopped, but after starting running again it wouldn't resume on its own and I had to press Start to get it going again
I live in Downtown Los Angeles, so reception isn't a problem. I usually always get full bars. However, when talking on long phone calls 20+ minutes with full bars, my phone will just cut off and say call failed. Then I have no reception, then it just comes back.
Is this a iPhone issue or a ATT issue? I have an odd suspicion it's my phone because it occurs so frequently, but Ive had difficulty asking the apple bar to replace my phone just because of reception issues.
I've owned the MotoActv for two month, I got the mysterious "moisture issues" that everyone seems to be getting even though I've never used it in the rain. But the thing that is driving me nuts is the music. When I hit random shuffle of all my songs, I hear songs I don't want to hear... song that I do not own on my computer. Where are these songs coming from? Today I heard "Boot Scoot Boogie!" I abhore country music as does my wife. Doing a computer wide search shows no evidence that the song exists on my computer. Yet there it is playing in mile four. Other mystery songs have showed up too. The performance music playlist seems to be filled with songs I never heard of, yet evidently I perform well to them.
Let the developers know what new innovations you would like to see in Motoactive. Let them know what Apps, websites, hardware features that are out there that you love and would like to see incorporated into Motoactv.
I noticed that when I play video through you tube and the ones that I receive on whatsapp didn't utilize the full screen of the Nexus 6.
There is a lot of black dead space in the videos taking away the advantage of the big screen. I see these videos occupying the full space of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus
