I just recieved a warranty replacement DX2 yesterday.So far, it is a neat phone and I am quite pleased.However, I am unable to fiind the selection to calibrate the compass. In my old Droid X it was in Menu>Settings>Location & Security>Calibrate Compass.Now, Calibrate Compass is no longer there.Perhaps the DX2 compass doesn't require calibration.

The solution offered by fletc33, which I assume closed the discussion, does not relate to the problem the original post talks about nor does it offer a solution. The problem we have has to do with the compass on Google Maps. it is not a frozen compass, or calibration of the compass. it has to do with the compass being off in Google Maps and the degree of the deviation varies erratically. The problem in not that the compass is off by some degrees, or that it is frozen, the problem is that the the compass is going all over the map when in google maps.
I have researched this problem for a couple of month, reading posts (here and on other forums) about this and similar problems and I'm yet to find a solution to this specific issue.I am going to take a short video of my phone rrunning google map to better illustrate the problema, nd post it to this thread.
Encountered issue with the calibration of the compass when using Here maps after a phone restart? It seems like compass settings do not get saved? I need to recalibrate the compass with the figure 8 thingy in Here maps after every single restart of the phone?

however, compass mode in google maps no longer works for me.
I noticed that the compass on google map (blue little arrow) is a bit crazy. it will not point north. It may point west but when I tilt the phone up or down even just a bit (still pointing north), it will flip to pointing east. If I drive with the Map app open, the arrow (using GPS I guess) point to the direction of driving. but a few seconds after stopping the around will flip between 90 and 100 degrees, until I start moving again. I found that google sky also goes totally crazy and jumps all around when I use it. I downloaded a compass app and it also shows the compass moving erratically when I move the phone even a few degrees. Although this phone is brand new (4 days) it is not my first Android nor my first Moto. I remember that my other phone had a compass calibration utility and I can't seem to find it on the Razr..
View 5 Replies View RelatedDON'T USE MAGNETIC PHONE CASES if you want your compass to stay working.I have searched for and read thru lots of posts about people with compass problems in their Razr but no one mentions if they have or did have a phone case with a magnetic close flap.My compass had been working great and I use Night Sky and navigation apps all the time.I put on a leather flip case for more protection and suddenly my compass is all screwy and locked up!Even taking the case back off didn't help.I got the phone tester app and seen that all 3 axis were frozen so I took the magnet from the offending phone case and floated it up to and away from the phone from all directions. This kinda unfroze the compass but it's still erratic even after calibration.

It is not listed in the "All Apps" list and when on the home screen, pressing the menu button then "Settings" does absolutely nothing. I've factory reset the phone, twice externally.
I can't get any more phone details as the menu is inacessible. how else I can get the settings menu functionality back?
i bought the Blackberry Torch 9860 around 2 weeks back.due to some reason, an app downloaded from appworld was causing problems during the battery pull of my device, so i did a clean wipe of the handheld.upon restarting the device i found the Blackberry digital compass missing, it was there before wiping as i used to use it often. i can't find it under applications list when connected to desktop manager. theres no installation file available on the net.

Every time I click on the 'home' button it goes to the home screen for the MultiMedia Base, and not the regular Droid home menu. This is a pain, because every time I want to use an app, I first have to press the 'X' on the MultiMedia home screen to get to the regular Droid menu.The worst thing about the Multimedia menu, is that on many phone calls I recieve while the phone is in the Multimedia base, when I 'X' out of the menu, it goes to the Droid menu and not to the Answer Phone window...by the time i get to the menu to answer the phone the caller is gone.

How do you add another tile to that drop down menu? I want to add volume control as its the only thing missing that I use all the time. View 6 Replies View Related I got the motoactv for Christmas. I tried the treadmill calibration and like others indicated it didn't last the 2 full minutes. I have ran twice since and it doesn't work at all. I ran for 1.5 miles at a 5.2 mph and it recorded a .86 run and the mph was no where near 5.2. It basically said I was going about 2.5 mph. When I look at my graph, about half the time it didn't have me moving or moving at about 1 mph!.
I want to try and recalibrate it - where can I delete my original calibration so I can try again? Also, is there anyway to edit my run to put in the correct mileage? I don't see any edit functionality.

View 11 Replies View RelatedLove my RAZR Maxx however something I've noticed (I've had Moto Droid/Droid2 and HTC Incredible) is that when scrolling (like email or web pages) my finger must barely touch the home button (or the back/menu/search buttons) and my scrolling gets interrupted by the button function. It seems much more sensitive than any of my other phones.Anyone else have this issue or am I the only klutz? Maybe there is a setting to change sensitivity but can't find it.

Tried to callibrate MA for indoor running;Did what the prompts said -- however, it says for the 1st 2-mins. run easy -- my MA DID NOT let me go for the total 2-mins...tried a couple of times and it usually cut me off at about 1-min?When I look at my workouts OF COURSE the paces are off because it didn't calibrate...I saw that I could "correct" the distance on the MA, but how can I go to my MA.com and enter in the laps column my actual splits..ie., 1-mile??
I actually Don't track calories but was wondering why this indoor workout said 0 calories burned? I DID wear my HR monitor...(Incidentally, I have a new NordicTrack treadmill AND the calories burned compared to my Garmin AND the MA (when I got calories from outdoor run) were ALL completely different..by a lot).I enetered the same data for all 3 re. weight, etc...
Is there a way to reset the pedometer without performing a new calibration?
