Then, while driving home today with Google Maps, Maps suddenly noted that my compass wasn't calibrated and asked me to calibrate it. Now, the compass is off by 10-80 degrees as I turn around. I tried re-calibrating again with GPS Status and got the same result. The compass calibration routine on the MAXX is broken. I don't know if this is a Google Android issue or a MAXX issue. Is there any way to reset the compass calibration to default values?

The solution offered by fletc33, which I assume closed the discussion, does not relate to the problem the original post talks about nor does it offer a solution. The problem we have has to do with the compass on Google Maps. it is not a frozen compass, or calibration of the compass. it has to do with the compass being off in Google Maps and the degree of the deviation varies erratically. The problem in not that the compass is off by some degrees, or that it is frozen, the problem is that the the compass is going all over the map when in google maps.
I have researched this problem for a couple of month, reading posts (here and on other forums) about this and similar problems and I'm yet to find a solution to this specific issue.I am going to take a short video of my phone rrunning google map to better illustrate the problema, nd post it to this thread.

however, compass mode in google maps no longer works for me.
I just recieved a warranty replacement DX2 yesterday.So far, it is a neat phone and I am quite pleased.However, I am unable to fiind the selection to calibrate the compass. In my old Droid X it was in Menu>Settings>Location & Security>Calibrate Compass.Now, Calibrate Compass is no longer there.Perhaps the DX2 compass doesn't require calibration.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that the compass on google map (blue little arrow) is a bit crazy. it will not point north. It may point west but when I tilt the phone up or down even just a bit (still pointing north), it will flip to pointing east. If I drive with the Map app open, the arrow (using GPS I guess) point to the direction of driving. but a few seconds after stopping the around will flip between 90 and 100 degrees, until I start moving again. I found that google sky also goes totally crazy and jumps all around when I use it. I downloaded a compass app and it also shows the compass moving erratically when I move the phone even a few degrees. Although this phone is brand new (4 days) it is not my first Android nor my first Moto. I remember that my other phone had a compass calibration utility and I can't seem to find it on the Razr..
View 5 Replies View RelatedDON'T USE MAGNETIC PHONE CASES if you want your compass to stay working.I have searched for and read thru lots of posts about people with compass problems in their Razr but no one mentions if they have or did have a phone case with a magnetic close flap.My compass had been working great and I use Night Sky and navigation apps all the time.I put on a leather flip case for more protection and suddenly my compass is all screwy and locked up!Even taking the case back off didn't help.I got the phone tester app and seen that all 3 axis were frozen so I took the magnet from the offending phone case and floated it up to and away from the phone from all directions. This kinda unfroze the compass but it's still erratic even after calibration.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy daughter (an iPhone 4 user) glanced at my Atrix while i was playing Angry Birds and asked why everything was so brown. She then compared her screen to mine and I was astounded at how poorly yellows are rendered on my phone! I then comparedit to my son's Samsung Captivate, with similar results. Color rendition on the Atrix is really off.Is there a way to make the color temperature cooler on the Atrix, or to completely recallibrate the display? Now that I've seen the difference, it's hard not to see problems in the display all the time. Any chance that a future update will fix the display driver to be more balanced?

This is true in every app tried so far (Compass, Google maps, Google sky map). The x,y,z values for magnetic field vary in the AndroSensor app as I move the phone around leaving open the possibility that it is a software rather than a device issue. If it is software, I'd think it would be a common problem. The fact that there is no discussion indicates maybe it is just my device.So, my question to this Forum is: Do others have this problem, ie is it common and software related?I prefer to avoid the hassle of setting up a new replacement device (love the Photon), but if it is just my device,

I've been "granted" a replacement, which is due to arrive Monday.Do the actively disable your phone when they do that?I am at a login screen, with 7:00 PM Thursday Jan 1 showing. A blue triangle next to the 1x symbol. ALso showed wireless net detected symbol. I cannot interact with the screen. But the sd card can mount in Windows. Also says No Service.Is this anything of interest to folks in troubleshooting DX issues? Or a clear indicator that they have disabled this phone? I have tried hard resetting this phone like 10 times now.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently we both just got on Facebook. I was showing her how you can go into contacts and scroll right and see any status updates. She tried it on hers and it was in the dialer. I opened the drawer and hit the contacts icon and it just opened the dialer under the contact tab. Her phone is stock with Launcher Pro. My phone has Launcher Pro but works fine. I have looked all through her phone and done numerous searches and am unable to find the answer about how to get her back to all contacts. She did do the GB update, but I should still be able to see the contacts outside of the dialer. I can't even create a text group for her.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased my Motorola Droid in November 2009 at a Verizon store. They created a Gmail account for me but I don't know the password. I've never accessed this Gmail account from any other device aside from this Droid. Now my phone died and I can't get my data, specifically my contacts off this phone.
I was able to take out the SD card and back that up. I've tried going thru the normal Gmail steps to recover the password but that has not been successful. The next option is to get this phone repaired. The screen has died on this phone and want to know if it can be repaired. I would like advice on either or both of these options.
If there is an easier way to recover my contacts off this phone / Gmail contacts,

And when I say trouble, I mean they will not open. I have not been able to log into Twitter since the day GB was released. The website will load fine until I try to go to the https login page and then won't go any further. I was even having trouble with gmail earlier today.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently tried to transfer pictures I took with my driod 4 to a PC. I mounted the phone as USB storage. I can see the files, but regardless of if I copy the files to local drive, or open directly I get an error saying that the file is corrupt. Same when trying media sync instead of usb storage.
This actually happens for any type of file. I can open files that were copied from the PC to the phone, but not files that started on the phone. The files open fine on the phone and open if I email the files to myself.
I try to open my camera on my Droid3 and it will either look like its going to load but then just have a black scree, or will just go back to the homescreen and show the message across the bottom of my phone "unable to initialize" tried restarting my phone a few times and still no luck. Really frustrating especially since I just got my phone about a month ago.

I was looking for a previous doctor's appointment and was able to see it on my google calendar on my PC but it didn't transfer to my new phone. It's still on my old Droid Incredible though.
