Motorola Droid :: Unable To Take Out The SD Card And Back That Up?
Aug 20, 2011
I purchased my Motorola Droid in November 2009 at a Verizon store. They created a Gmail account for me but I don't know the password. I've never accessed this Gmail account from any other device aside from this Droid. Now my phone died and I can't get my data, specifically my contacts off this phone.
I was able to take out the SD card and back that up. I've tried going thru the normal Gmail steps to recover the password but that has not been successful. The next option is to get this phone repaired. The screen has died on this phone and want to know if it can be repaired. I would like advice on either or both of these options.
If there is an easier way to recover my contacts off this phone / Gmail contacts,
Just received my refurbished DX to hopefully work better than my current one which has been a pain since the Gingerbread update. I have quite a few apps installed on my SD card that didn't make it through the lame VZ backup. Do I have to reinstall them from the market or is there a way to just have them recognized?
I can see the mp3 and flac files when I connect my RAZR to my laptop, but the device itself can't see/play the music. Not sure what is going on here. why I can't access the music on my SD card that was fine on my Droid4? Seems odd that my music folder is empty (when I browse to it using files/astro.)
The back button on my original Droid (from 11/2009) is non-responsive at any time.Other 3 butons work fine. Nothing new added recently. Software issue or is it hardware. Never realized how much I used the back button.
The back cover of the Droid 4 can fool you -- it looks like a typical slide-down-with-pressure-to-remove cover. But there's a trick. There's a small pinhole on the black panel at the top rear, where the camera lens and flash are located, just to the right of "HD 1080P." That's the lock. If you insert a pin or other small object into that hole, it releases the back cover and it slides right off.
I downloaded the last update for my Droid X. Since then the FM radio app is gone. If i click on it, it says it is not installed. how to get it back without doing a factory reset?
My phone will intermittently power back up after I power it down. I would say this happens 50% of the time. After I push the power down button, it vibrates as though it is powering down, goes dark, and within 30 seconds I hear the Droid startup sound without me touching it
I disabled an app I would like to restore but can't find it in my App list anymore - how do I find it to restore? It's one that came with the ICS upgrade originally.
So, I hope no one else has had this happen to them, but, my phone turned off in the middle of the night while on the charger, and now it won't come back on. Made me miss my alarm clock and i was late to work, when I was the one supposed to be opening. I haven't tried rooting this phone or messing with the bootloader at all, and I haven't downloaded any new apps in the last 2 days. Does anyone have any idea why this would have happened, AND, does anyone have any idea how to turn
The new carbon back up app will not work on Motorola phones, they state:
"Carbon is NOT available to Motorola devices. This is because Motorola phones have a bug that break Android's backup mechanism. Until this is fixed by Motorola, Carbon will not work on those Androids"
I am trying to figure out if it is me or do other people have their homescreen crash when returnig back to it from about anything? By crashing I mean that you return from the camera, online, text message, or whatever and your homescreen has to rebuild itself. Mine is doing it more than its not and was wondering if its an app i have installed or do others crash too?
i remembered that being a standout feature of our phone, and while at home on wi fi (i have a 15mbps up and down fiber connection) netflix is just not playing back in the same quality that it used to.before i felt like video playback was almost on par with guys running 720p screens with higher ppi's...(rezound/gnex), at least within this particular app. but now? it looks like any other Internet vid with the quality on high (which imo still isnt all that great and still not as good as going to the desktop site and watching a vid set to 720 or 1080).no other phone was ever touted as having this ability (though i'm sure the rezound and gnex can) and a lot of it had to do with the omap processor being used...is something up with ics thats not letting it happen? or was it the most recent netflix update that supports 4.1?
If you have Gingerbread and it's causing you problems, is it possible to revert back to Froyo while the Gingerbread bugs are worked out and then re-upgrade to Gingerbread?
From day one the D3, i received on july 8th after placing a phone order, seemed to have really dim button backlight. Well after a couple weeks i went into a VZW store to purchase an extended battery and noticed that the D3 they have out on display has very bright buttons. I've been very busy at work so i finally got around to seeking some tech support and thy are sending me a CLNR to replace mine. I wished i had sought out tech support a couple weeks ago so i would be getting a new phone and not one someone else returned.
Having major trouble as of yesterday afternoon. Seems my touch Screen is on the frits. I noticed my back button didn't work all of a sudden, but the search and home and menu buttons all still work. and i could barely unlock my phone because a strip up from the back button wasn't working. I have done all i know to do at this point, pulled the battery twice, As bad as i hated to, i did a factory reset, which did increase the speed but i lost all of my customizations, and apps. I had 122 market apps and salvaged about 20 - 40 from the market, only 4 was paid. Anyways the problem still existed. IT came back for a few minutes after about an hour after the factory restore, and started working, then went away again. and didn't work again until i started typing this thread. I know it won't last though....
I'm out of warranty and i got shot down by calling verizon for a replacement, thought i might run by a store later to see what i can do. I want to hold out on an upgrade until next year when hopefully the droid 4 will have a keyboard and 3g . I hate to upgrade to a 3g phone this year when 4g is in my area now.
I Accidentally deleted a contact from my 'book' I lost everything from their facebook the their numbers to their skype. I can re-add the numbers easy enough but how do I either
a) undelete the contact or
b) readd all of the peripheral contact info (facebook, skype...)
Sometimes when I turn the screen off on My Bionic, it immediately comes right back on.Now, it doesn't happen every time and I can't repeat the problem on demand.Seems as though it has a mind of its own.I don't believe it is a bad app causing the problem either. The phone has been doing this on and off since I activated it yesterday. Not sure why it does this, but I wanted MOTO to be aware of this issue.I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software problem, but it didn't go away after a battery pull and reboot.
While on speakerphone the display will naturally go dark after awhile. But if I need to turn speakerphone off and remain in the call, how do I do this? Obviously I would need to bring the display back up so I can tap the speakerphone button, but I can't seem to get the display to come back while in the call. If I briefly tap the power button, the call is dropped. Touching the volume or camera button won't bring the display back, so what is one to do? Drop the call and call them back?
So I started to notice this in my picture gallery. When I open it to look at a photo and then close the app, re-opening the app brings me right back to the last photo I was looking at. On my Razr M if you closed the gallery and open it again you are back on the folders screen. Now with the turbo I have to hit back a few times to get where I want to be. The same goes with my emails and text messages. If I text someone and close, instead of getting the whole list when I re-open messaging it starts off on the last person I was talking to.
Any way to get rid of or disable visual voicemail on my Turbo? It is getting annoying any time I get a voicemail and the phone tries to default me to visual voicemail instead of standard (non visual) voicemail.
Also, is it now the norm for voicemail messages to be "read" as to the exact time/date/length of the voicemail? Or is that a component of visual voicemail? My messages often take longer to "load" than to listen to the actual vm itself since it is telling me what day it was sent, what time, how long, etc
I just got a droid turbo and installed the recommended updates. It has changed the look of my keyboard and I would like to go back to the original one. How do I do this?
