Motorola Droid X2 :: Unable To Get Launcher To Launch?
Sep 24, 2011
I'm new to this and I'm sure you've all moved on, but it find it impossible to get my launcher to launch anything beyond apps. How do I get to the other functions of the launcher?
I have noticed a definite change from my stock Razr Maxx to the new ICS version and how it works with Go Launcher. The screens (when swiped) seem to be laboring and there is a lag that was not there before.
Came to use my MA for my ride into work this morning, and the screen simply says "The application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and has a force close button.Hitting the Force Close causes the message to re-appear.Powering off and back on again, causes the message to re-appear.Is there a way to reset the device using the buttons (I have no menus, navigation or anything other than the message above so cant go to the config to do a factory reset).
I had to make a quick post on an odd (to me, at least) experience with my DX2.First of all, since 2.3.4, my phone's operation and stability has been greatly improved; however, transitions between homescreens was still a little rough. Not unusable, but noticeable. Then I saw a post somewhere on this site where the user mentioned that homescreen transitions improved when he installed launcher pro. I had used LP on my former Droid-based phone, but had never bothered to reinstall it when I upgraded. Frankly, I've enjoyed using the Moto UI and learning how to do things the "Droid way" instead of the "LP way." But I've been very pleasantly surprised at how much installing LP has improved my overall UI experience. It's silky smooth, and I swear my live wallpaper is running more smoothly and responsively as well.
I was at the Texas State Fair this weekend, and a Verizon guy was trying to con my family into all these "deal." He did have a Bionic, which I managed to get to play with. It was not long before I concluded that the Bionic is way faster than the DROID3. And that's with livewallpapers on. I fired up the camera app, did some browsing on the browser, and nothing. No redraw, no lag.
Now, the launcher speed did improve with the update. But it is still not up to speed with Bionic, it will still redraw coming out of intensive apps, and Launcher Pro blows it out of the water in all but one area. Oh and I went through quite a few pages on the Bionic forums, and did a search for both "lag" and "redraw" and came up fairly empty. With live wallpapers on, Launcher Pro's app drawer drops frames. Live wallpapers doesn't seem to affect the stock launcher at all. Overall LP is faster, but not that one little area.
So when are we going to get some attention around here in Bionic soak test land???
I am unable to locate my ADW launcher icon. I did note that ADW is still running however. Following a web search I learned that I could disable the phone's original launcher. I'm not savvy enough to know what the launcher is or how to do that.
For the past several days for me. I just get "Loading..." and the perpetually rotating gear. Yet my notification bar is letting me know I have updates available. I just can't open the Market to DL them.
I recently updated my Droid Turbo to Android 5.1. I did a factory reset immediately after the install and set up as a new device. I went to settings to change the launcher from Launcher3 (Turbo's default launcher) to Google. When I went in to the settings screen, the "Home" option was no longer available.
I tried force stopping and clearing memory on Launcher3 as well as Google App, but the Home option still isn't showing up.
Does the Turbo not have the ability to change the Launcher to the standard Google launcher? I miss swiping right to get to my Google Now cards .
Recently got the .602 upgrade and noticed the double tap home launch isn't working, at least on my phone. Is this a new issue, or was it a problem previously? Have tried all the options available, but none seem to work. This feature can be accessed by going to Settings>Applications>Double tap home launch to choose your option.
Is there a way to get the Widget selection to read correctly (the text appears to be white on a white background)? I know there is a way to do this using methods not supported by these forums but I would like to avoid that if could.
I am using a Nexus 5, and I am not able to set a launcher by default. I have downloaded, Hola launcher, Solo Launcher, APUS launcher and Nova Launcher. But except Google Now Launcher, nothing stays default. if this is some bug in the latest 5.1.1 upgrade.
i am using Nokia E7 with symbia Anna, and unfortunately i unistalled Nokia Store from my device by this the store icon from menu has removed. Then I install the store app again on my device but i unable toh launch it as the store widget is missing..
Had some issues with the Dock icons at the bottom of the screen. Tried to solve the issue with Go Launcher EX. I want to return to the original Photon Launcher and get rid of Go Launcher EX. Go Launcher EX took over without asking if I wanted to use it over my stock launcher. Now this Go Launcher EX is a non-removable program.
Is there a quick fast way to launch the camera? My point is by the time you hit the power button, unlock the screen, launch the camera you have lost your shot.
I've had this problem on and off, but lately it seems to be getting worseSome apps won't launch when I try to start them. I hit the icon and nothing happens. I know the pone can be slowed down when it's synching data and the round circle is in the bar at the tip, but this happens even when that isn't the caseIn the laswt couple of weeks, it's started happening even when I try to place phone calls. I hit the green send button and nothing.
I have not been able to get the webtop to launch. I am using a Motorola multi-media HD dock to connect to my HDTV. All of the support pages show using an app called "Motorola Webtop." The only app on my phone is named "Webtop Connector". When I launch it there is a red/white Motorola logo that comes up on the TV screen but nothing else happens. The phone displays No webtop web pages to resume. and No webtop bookmarks.
I am looking for an alternative to the standard Motoblur homescreen/launcher. I have tried ADW Launcher and Launcher Pro, and am looking for some other options. I am mainly looking to add more then seven homescreens, either keep the standard motoblur look or switch to something that looks like stock Froyo/Gingerbread, have a 3D app drawrer, and keep my current homescreens (widgets, shortcuts, etc) in place, as both ADW and Launcher Pro have forced me to start from scratch. I would like something free (or at least with a free trial or free version) and I am not a root user.
I am still running 3.1 on my Verizon 3G Xoom. In the last few weeks, I have noticed an increased incidence of the "Launcher Process" crashing while the unit it idle. I get the error message, and then the device reverts to the last app I was using even though I had exited to home.
It is a bit of a pain becuase it happens 4-5 times a day.
Running ICS on Xoom Wifi. When creating a photo gallery widget, and selecting a single image, then go to crop, it seems to freeze the tablet on Saving Picture... prompt. Touching the controls icons won't do anything, just blank screen.I have to wait for a few, then the launcher freeze popup saying wait/report/stop. When creating photo gallery widget from album or shuffle, it works. It just doesn't work with single image. I think this is a bug, repeatable with any images.if I have space left, it says 28.11 GB free.
I bought the Atrix 2 today.Initial thoughts, the screen looks really nice, the soft rubber back feels better then the Atrix 1. I got the same internet speeds as the Atrix 1. Camera button convenient though pressing it doesnt launch camera app. On the Atrix 2 internal memory isnt accessible, even hooking up to pc you cant browse it, so you need a SD card to put music and videos, etc on it.HDMI mirroring worked as expected. I think the MHL mirroring from the SGS2 was better quality though.
I don't have the "sound recorder" app on my app drawer. Yet i know the program is on the phone, because if i launch whatsapp, click on attach and then choose audio, it will launch sound recorder just fine.
So, what is the officially santioned way to open sound recorder?
every time i try to use the phone portal it it ask you to plug in usb to launch or connect with wifi.well problem one is i trie to use just wifi but wont connect unless i use my usb . witch i dont understand.number 2 is after i get it to launch and login on my pc the app crashes every time.
Running Windows 7 x64 SP1 and anytime that I try to play a audio or video, either remotely or using web access, gst-launch.exe crashes and will not play anything.I have uninstalled Java 6, and Zumocast to no avail.Thoughts?Problem signature:Problem Event Name: APPCRASHApplication Name: gst-launch.exeApplication Version: 0.0.0.0Application Timestamp: 4d22440bFault Module Name: StackHash_0a9eFault Module Version: 0.0.0.0Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000Exception Code: c000000Exception Offset: 00000001OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1Locale ID: 1033Additional Information 1: 0a9eAdditional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789Additional Information 3: 0a9e
I'm unable to get my dx to boot. I've been "granted" a replacement, which is due to arrive Monday.Do the actively disable your phone when they do that?I am at a login screen, with 7:00 PM Thursday Jan 1 showing. A blue triangle next to the 1x symbol. ALso showed wireless net detected symbol. I cannot interact with the screen. But the sd card can mount in Windows. Also says No Service. Is this anything of interest to folks in troubleshooting DX issues? Or a clear indicator that they have disabled this phone? I have tried hard resetting this phone like 10 times now.
