Jun 29, 2012When using my iPhone 4 to do anything like listen to music, watch a video or just using apps, the volume bar disappears from the screen and the sound stops. When I get texts and things sometimes it just vibrates and doesn't make a noise. I know the speakers still work because when I go to the settings and touch the sound bar it makes the test noise to show you how loud it will be.
This problem is the same when using my headphones. I've tried syncing it to my laptop & making sure it has the latest iOS version.

IPhone :: First Few Seconds Of Sound Missing With Bluetooth?
May 3, 2012I've been struggling with this issue for some time now, and haven't found any explanation. The issue is that if I am using turn-by-turn navigation software (that speaks directions) while my iPhone 4 is connected to a Bluetooth device, and the software hasn't given me directions for a minute or so, the connection seems to "go to sleep." When the next directions are issued, I miss the first part. For example, if the directions should have said "Get ready to turn left at Main Street," all I might hear is "at Main Street." Quite unhelpful!
Some details: I have tried two different navigation programs. I used MapQuest's free app for a while, and now am using the VZ Navigator app. Both had the same issue. I have also tried three different Bluetooth devices: a Plantronics Voyager headset, a Jabra headset and my car's Bluetooth speakerphone. All show the same behavior. Also, if I'm playing music through Bluetooth in my car, the problem goes away completely.
My conclusion is that the iPhone 4 is letting the connection with the Bluetooth device lapse when not in active use for some length of time, and it takes a few seconds to re-establish it. But that doesn't lead me to a solution. Anyone else experience this, and know of a fix for the problem? Is there any way to keep the connection alive without playing music, which I would obviously prefer not to do with a headset!

Dec 12, 2014I just got the 5s and when placing or receiving a call, the sound is very low. I can barley hear the person on the other end. if I switch it to the speaker I have no problems hearing them. All other sounds, music and tones play fine and I've checked the volume button on the side and the sounds button under settings, everything is turned up to high. Aug 20, 2015This is like the 3rd time that my LG G4 lost all volume...seems to happen after a incoming phone call. I can barely hear lock and unlock sounds but everything else is silent. I checked all volume levels and all are at full level. I am baffled here! The last 2 times it happened, the volume just came back to normal on it's own.
I was able to get sound back by rebooting the phone...but this is a big issue! Can't hear calls or texts coming in!

It's such a basic thing to do, but I can't figure it out. I decided I'd load a ringtone of Silent or None but Verizon's LGG4 does not have that option, again very poor design. While trying to load another ringtone, I went to settings, apps, sound, and hit the small + sign to load a new ringtone and was greeted with another one of those "Do you want to use this action, or that app, or whatever" and then the option "always" or "Just once" and without thinking I chose "Always" now I can't get to the media browser? I tried to clear defaults but can't find the sound app that controls this? Where is this setting?

Before I factory reset my phone, I was able to change my volume using the side buttons to go from different levels of sound, then vibrate only, then dead mode (complete silent and no vibrations). Now I only have different levels of sound and dead mode. I read about changing an option in sounds to vibrate only in silent mode, which will fix this but I can't find that either (my suspicians are that this option was taken out in ICS or moved to a secret location to foil my plans).
