Huawei Nexus 6P :: How To Disable Required Password On Bootup
Nov 16, 2015
Ok so if your phone reboots or crashes, you will need to enter a password or pattern in order for the phone to work. Even alarms and everything won't work until you enter the password. That's pretty bad especially if you NEED an alarm
Some people mentioned turning it on and off and it would give you a prompt to disable it.

Ever since I have unlocked my bootloader I have 2 things that bug me.
1. Whenever I restart my phone it asks for my password/pin/pattern everytime before it will start. It's not a huge deal except when I restart my phone and forget I have to do that part it sits a while waiting for the password.
2. The little "warning" screen that tells me my bootloader is unlocked. Just like the way the old Nexus's were with no warning, just the little white unlocked pad lock on the google screen.

so I accidentally wiped the entire phone and tried to install chroma rom. Now after boot I'm getting an "Encryption Unsuccessful" message. and its asking me to reset phone.
I tap the Reset Phone button and I am taken to TWRP where it asks for a decryption password. I enter "default_password" and the phone reboots with the same issue.

Damnit. Something went wrong and I don't know how to get out of it.
I used Nexus Root Toolkit 2.0.7. Bootloader Unlock went just fine. Root went wrong (I think). It just sits there at the white Google logo. It never goes to the animated loading portion of boot up.
So, I stopped the process. Then went to select Flash Stock + Unroot to hopefully start over. It still stays at the white Google logo. Instructions say it could take up to 20 minutes, but I waited for about 30 and nothing happened.
So I entered Recovery. Formatted/Cleared all data and started fresh with the unlocked boot loader. I was able to flash TWRP and actually flash a custom ROM. It loaded, but the phone boot looped when I tried to flash a custom Kernel.
Fine. I went to restore a backup I made before flashing the Kernel and it boot looped. Restoring the backup did nothing and I couldn't load anything.
Loaded up Nexus Root Toolkit again, tried to root and it just stays on the white Google logo. Tried Flash Stock + Unroot and it still sits at the Google logo.
WTF. I've been doing this for a long ass time now.

So I went ahead and started to root my Nexus 6P. I installed the systemless modified boot.img and TWRP, then I sideloaded the systemless SuperSU in TWRP. I am encrypted and TWRP can decrypt still, however when I try to boot the phone, I get the Decryption unsuccessful message and it wants me to reset the phone. I hit reset, it factory resets in TWRP, and it just comes to the same screen upon boot.

I know with my N5 I had constant problems with the "butt dial flashlight" and on of the reasons I got a N6 is that I wanted to eliminate that problem and indeed it was successful. Now with the 6P this morning I noticed my pocket was getting hot and I took the phone out and the flashlight was on..

Pretty much as the title says. In Marshmallow, I simply can't find how to disable a user app, I can only see how to disable system apps.

I know you can do this with smart pairing of Bluetooth devices but I was hoping to be able to do the same for when I'm playing music through my car's auxiliary jack / over the phone's speakers. I've done a fair bit of googling but haven't found a solution. I use llama app on my phone to trigger events and have tried setting a trigger using the music app to trigger the screen lock to disable but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if it's feasible to somehow trigger screen lock to be disabled when a music app is active?

Can I disable the cell signal automatically on the unrooted nexus 6P?
I know I can pop it in airplane mode and then turn back on bluetooth & wifi but I want to automate this process so that when I'm at work it will toggle the cell radio off.

I'm running a rooted 6P with TWRP and a custom kernel. Just got a notification for an OTA. Obviously, I can't run this update. How can I disable the update check? I have ROM Manager and know how to disable apps, but don't see any obvious update check system app.

I'm looking to find a way to move my app settings, data and passwords (mainly settings and passwords...just hate having to re-enter all that mess) from my Note 3 to my new Nexus 6P. Looked at a few apps but those seem to only move contacts, pics, and stuff like that. I always backup everything on my Note 3 with Titanium backup...so am I going to have to transfer my backup from my Note 3 to my Nexus 6P to restore all that or is there a direct way to do it?

I unlocked my bootloader, flashed Chainfire's systemless boot.img, flashed TWRP twrp-2.8.7.1-angler.img and when I took into recovery TWRP is asking me for a password to decrypt. I don't remember setting a password and don't know if there is a default one.

Have a Nexus 5 running the latest lollipop build that has been working properly for a while (Phone is a Google refurb from November 2014, replacing my original N5 that had battery issues; Warranty expired Feb 2015)4 days ago, it randomly rebooted and then got stuck on the "Optimizing apps" page on initial bootup - would never go past a certain app number.First tried wiping cache - which didn't complete even after 48 hours.
Next tried full wipe from recovery, which worked but then shutdowns still happened.Reflashed all stock images (Phone is stock, not rooted) last night - problem still exists with random shutdown - but I can always get past initial setup; shutdown problems happen a little while later during use.Wiping cache from recovery now gives a "Could not mount /cache/" error in recovery
that there's sector(s) on the eMMC that's borked. It's a 32GB phone - is there a way I can flag off a certain sector as "bad" and put the cache partition somewhere else? Also, replacing the eMMC chip if needed (I can find someone set up for BGA work). I considered doing a file check from Philz / TWRP, but since the issue persists after a full reflash/reformat I assume that it's not a software bug.

When connecting my Storm 2 to my laptop it is requesting my password 3 times. When I first started using it, it only requested my password 1 or 2 times. Once if the handset was already unlocked and twice if it is locked. It is not the Desktop manager that is the issue but the Blackberry device manager. Is there a way to stop the device manager requesting the password as it is annoying. I do not have a memory card in my handset so not quite sure why it is prompting. Also does anyone know where I can find more info on the Device manager whether it needs to be installed for BB desktop manager to function properly etc.

Does anyone know why I get this email once or twice every morning? Then I go and validate it and sometimes its takes a few tries (even though I input the same information everytime)
"Update the password for ..... in the BlackBerry Internet Service! Email messages and changes to your address book contacts from ..... are not being delivered to your BlackBerry device. To resume receiving email messages and address book contacts from this email address, updated the password for .... in the BlackBerry Internet Service: " and then it continues to instruct me how to do this...

I have forgotten my password and to make matters worse, the phone wont accept my supposedly registered fingerprint.
I would like to avoid a reset...... I think I might be able to submit the correct password if I knew the requirements of the password, i.e. #letters, #numbers, caps, special char etc etc.

To unlock the bootloader in order to root the Nexus 6?
I don't really care about custom ROMs, but there are a few root apps I would like to use.
For example, I'd like to enable touch to wake. That would make the phone perfect for me.
But I just do not want to brick the phone.

I recently had an issue with my Nexus 5 where it wouldn't charge correctly and only charge something like 30%-60% in 8 hours or 0-70% in 16hrs. I replaced the battery and it is charging as it should now.
I noticed the other day though that once fully charged it went from 100% to 89% in about 20 mins then operated as normal so I assume it needs to re-calibrate the battery. When I swapped the battery one was reading 50% and the new was on roughly 30% so it may have thrown it out a bit. Is it just a case of discharge fully then fully charge or do I have to charge this when off?
I've read a few threads and also found this:
1. Once your phone dies plug it into your HTC charger, (DO NOT TURN IT ON)
2. Let it charger fully (about 3 hours) until you see the light turn green, unplug the phone
3. Turn on the phone on but do not mess with it. (no checking email, messages, etc) let it sit for about 20 to 30 min
4. then plug it in again but let it continue to sleep (about 30 min)
5. once the light is green, unplug and your finished.
It was under the HTC one s forum. Does that apply to the Nexus 5 also? The phone is not rooted.

After getting my first Blackberry (Bold 9780) I wanted to set it up with my GMail account. So far, quite easy. My mails came through fine for a few hours. However, I soon received an error email from Blackberry error message "Action Required: Validate Password". Validate your ***@googlemail.com password. Hmm, a little worrying but no problem to re-enter the password...Messages - Menu (Blackberry logo) - Options - Email Account Management - Select Account - Validate - ContinueAnyway, so it went on. Error message - password validation - functioning for a while - error message. This got old pretty quickly. So, after plenty of hair-tearing over a couple of days I came across a piece of information on the GMail Go to Google Accounts "DisplayAccountCaptcha" link, below. Enter your account details and the distorted letters and this problem was solved. I am not sure how it works but it does.
