My iphone password screen will not accept my password. It doesn't work. How do I disable the password or reset it? This is the password that comes up after you slide the arrow to open the phone on the home screen. I have upgraded to the IOS 5 software

Recently my email server changed its settings and in order to do the same in the 9900 I went to email settings and was asked for my BB id and password. I had forgotten pw so clicked on 'forgot pw' and the usual pw hint question came up. However the pw I entered did not work - I was given 9 more chances and couldn't get the right pw.
