Every AMOLED phone I've had has a high brightness mode. I can only presume the 6P does as well. How to enable it?
For reference,
On the nexus 6 the command is:
echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fb0/hbm
On the note 3/4 the command is:
echo 6 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
Been reading about how it may cause more battery drain. I've been using it myself but if I switch, I feel like I'd have to run a higher than normal brightness to accommodate for when I go outside. So thinking it may not even be beneficial then.

After playing with my 6P for over a month, I feel like the battery can handle a brighter setting (with my usage). But, I have concerns about burn-in if I put the setting too high since this is an AMOLED panel. What brightness settings are you using and have you had any issues with burn-in?

Just got a nexus 5. I switched the location settings to battery saver but if I turn off location it defaults back to high accuracy mode when I turn it back on which drains my battery quickly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running the latest Cyanogenmod 13 nightly on my Nexus 6P, without gapps. Unfortunately, I do not have an HDR option in the camera (tried AOSP and Google camera).
I already flashed the vendor.img from Google. What I could do? I do not want to install gapps.
I'm running stock 5.1.1, and even though my auto brightness is off my phone occasionally dims my display when it's on full brightness. It's not running particularly hot (37 degrees C according to my battery widget) so I don't know what's causing it to dim.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust as the title says, I tried messing with the dpi, went from 400 to 480, all of them cause chrome to go into tablet mode with the tiny tabs/buttons at the top of the screen. I'm using the PureNexus rom.
Gmail app doesn't allow me to click some embedded links and some links are just plain text and not highlighted/underlined in blue making them clickable.
So I have an alarm set every morning for work. I also use the do not disturb quick launch. Well for whatever reason every time I use do not disturb it turns off the alarm even though I have it set for alarms only mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to flash a TWRP, but for some reason the phone doesn't show up any more in adb when in fastboot mode (at the bottom of the phone screen it tells me to connect a USB cable). It was showing fine until yesterday. I have tried several different USB ports. The cable is definitely working (in fact plugging and unplugging it causes Windows to notice and make a sound, and also it works fine in ADB when the phone is booted up.
The only thing that I can think that happened since I had last connected to it in fastboot mode (to unlock the bootloader) is that I connected my PC to a couple other phones (Galaxy S3 and Nexus 5) using them in MTP mode. I have reinstalled Google and universal drivers several times, deleted the device from device manager, etc
I don't like the eye popping colors of amoled screen on my 6P. sRGB enabled in developer options makes it look better in my eyes as a amatuer pornographer. However, it doesn't stick and needs to be re-enable on each boot.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been looking for an app or xposed module but no luck. I've been out the Android game for awhile with the iPhone 6 but now I'm back. On the iPhone there is a tweak to allow you to have a guest mode button on the lock screen.
I find it to be more convenient when someone picks up my phone. They can enter guest mode without the back and forth handling.

You change it in developer settings, to give the screen a more lcd look. I really like it, but turns off after reboot. Is it bad for the screen?

Do I have a bad battery or is there a setting or application on that is draining the battery? Battery shows 46% battery usage by cell phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the past week I've been running in high accuracy location mode because, for one I wanted to see if battery saving mode really saved much battery, and, also when I do need gps it's already on. I found that any difference in battery drain is negligible because gps is almost never on unless I'm specifically using it. Smooth with no pauses or lag. Does not even seem to get hot. Can any damage be done?
I also turned off the animations as well which could also contribute to the speed feeling really fast. My battery does not appear to be draining much faster.
I have not been able to use any tracking apps with my phone. I have the GPS on and set to high accuracy mode. The maps app pre-installed on the phone sometimes show the location several streets away. Which tracking apps are you using?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSeveral times now, I've noticed that my screen brightness is changing by itself, making it either 0% or 100% bright. I'm on T-Mobile, if that makes a difference.
I start on Auto Brightness and then move the slider to where I want to keep the brightness (thereby unchecking the Auto option), and then let my screen turn off. When I turn my screen back on, once in a while, the brightness will either be turned all the way down or all the way up. This is particularly unnerving during the day, when 0% brightness makes it look like my phone isn't turning on, and at night, when 100% brightness is practically blinding.
When I want to manually set the screen brightness (or change the "mode", called "sk�rmtilstand" in Danish), changes have no effect. The brightness bar is greyed out. Also, I have noticed that turning of "system battery saving" (the first of the two options offered under energy saving in the settings) changes have no effect.
I am running the SII with ICS.
I've had my Moto X for a couple of weeks and have noticed that it seems to drain battery strangely quickly when in Airplane mode and with the screen turned off. I leave my phone in this state while at work.
This morning, I put my phone away for over 3.5 hours in this state. After this 3.5 hours with screen off and airplane mode on, the battery had drained from 100% to 92%. The only 2 entries in the battery use screen were Phone Idle (1%) and Google Services (1% with a couple minutes of GPS and CPU usage which probably accounts for the amount of time it took for me to walk from my car to the office). See attached screenshots for details.
It seems like 8% of battery use over 3.5 hours in airplane mode with almost 0 screen on time is kind of excessive, particularly as no app or service reports using much battery use at all. How to fix or diagnose this? I've used wakelock detecting apps in the past but they've been kind of neutered since Kit Kat and I don't want to root my X to get proper stats.
