Galaxy S5 :: Lollipop Brightness Changing By Itself (Not On Auto Mode)

Mar 3, 2015

Several times now, I've noticed that my screen brightness is changing by itself, making it either 0% or 100% bright. I'm on T-Mobile, if that makes a difference.

I start on Auto Brightness and then move the slider to where I want to keep the brightness (thereby unchecking the Auto option), and then let my screen turn off. When I turn my screen back on, once in a while, the brightness will either be turned all the way down or all the way up. This is particularly unnerving during the day, when 0% brightness makes it look like my phone isn't turning on, and at night, when 100% brightness is practically blinding.

Galaxy S6 :: Auto Brightness Not Working

Nov 14, 2015

I have the TMobile S6 variant that I've had for about 6 months or so and noticed a few weeks back that that auto brightness does not work. it stays very very low even in very bright settings, I always have to go in a manually change th3 screen brightness. Is there a fix for this in an update or something because I seem to be the only one with an S6 having the issue although it has been reported for the Edge only.

Galaxy S6 :: How Does Auto Brightness Work

Sep 13, 2015

When I set the phone to auto brightness it gets dimmer then the manual value that I set, but even when auto brightness is on I can still move the brightness slider and it affects the screen brightness despite it being in auto brightness mode.

I would like to know by how much percent does the screen get dimmer in auto brightness mode compared to what's set manually via the brightness slider?

It seems my auto brightness is randomly turning off. Sometimes when the device is powered on and I'm using it and sometimes when its off. I don't know why my phone just decides to unchecked auto brightness but its annoying especially when I'm reading something and my phone just decides to blind me at random.

I'm on AT&T if that is important information....

Galaxy S6 :: Auto Brightness Doesn't Dim / Decrease

Nov 16, 2015

So my brand new s6 doesn't seem to auto dim the screen brightness.

If I hold it next to a lamp the brightness will increase, as expected, but when I turn off the lamp and the room is pitch dark, the screen brightness remains the same no matter how long I wait. However if I turn the screen off and on the brightness have decreased.

The light sensor is working. I have tried to adjust the slider in whatever position and been digging through the display settings with no luck.

I come from a Nexus 5 and I'm new to Samsung. It is NOT the edge model.

Galaxy S6 Edge :: Screen Dims With Auto-Brightness Turned OFF?

Apr 16, 2015

I have my newly purchased yesterday Galaxy S6 Edge for Verizon and auto-brightness is turned off. However, when I go into a dark environment my phone screen dims itself even though the auto feature is turned off.

When in a dark environment I can can hit the phones camera sensor with a flashlight and the screen returns to full brightness. When the screen is then locked and unlocked again it will return to the dim setting.

Extremely frustrating considering how beautiful the S6 Edges screen is. Wondering if there is a fix I can do now, waiting for an OTA update, or just return the phone and get something else.

When I get on my S6 at night when it's dark, it always seems so bright. I discovered that when I disable auto brightness I can turn the brightness down to a more comfortable level. Outside of this one use case, auto brightness works fine for me. Is this normal? Is there a way to make auto brightness go more dim when it's really dark?

When I want to manually set the screen brightness (or change the "mode", called "skļæ½rmtilstand" in Danish), changes have no effect. The brightness bar is greyed out. Also, I have noticed that turning of "system battery saving" (the first of the two options offered under energy saving in the settings) changes have no effect.

I am running the SII with ICS.

Galaxy S5 :: Lollipop Silent Mode Alarms Not Working

Feb 5, 2015

So I updated to android Lollipop this week and things have been going well. Normally when I go to sleep I put my phone in silent mode from the quick toggles in the notification panel. I like silent mode so I don't get vibrate notifications during the night and sounds that would wake me up.

Before the update my alarm which I use in the AM to wake up for work used to work in silent mode and I would hear the alarm. The last 2 nights the alarm goes off but only on the screen and does not make a sound like it used to.

Galaxy S6 :: Display Mode Changing When Launching And Exiting Camera

Aug 12, 2015

I don't know if any of you noticed that when entering the Camera app. The display will change to a different display mode even though you are not on "Adaptive display mode"

It happens in a split second upon launching the camera app and upon exiting, you will notice it reverts back to the current display mode you are using. In my case Basic.

I also noticed this only during my recent update to OG8 firmware (Stagefright) update... not sure if it does it before also.

Galaxy S5 :: Mode Changing From Vibrate To Mute While Screen Locked And Off

Feb 10, 2015

Got the update last week and not enjoying it so far (have yet to do factory reset). My main problem (besides lag) is that my phone keeps going to Mute either when I grab it or whatnot, I'm not sure. I keep on Vibrate and keep it in my shirt pocket typically (at work). It seems that handling my phone I somehow change the speaker modes without knowing it. Is there any way to lock the mode so that it won't change when the phone is locked? I don't mind being able to change the volume of audio output when the screen is off but for it to be able to switch to Mute or On is not something I want.

Galaxy S5 :: Lollipop - Airplane Mode - Phone Will Reboot And Hang On Samsung Logo

Jan 20, 2015

If i set my phone to airplane mode (which i usually do at night) the next morning i'll find it with near to no battery and just hanged on the samsung logo. I've tried to leave it out of airplane mode a whole night and it did not crash. Now just today, to see it happen, i set it to airplane mode, within an hour/hour and a half i tried to pick it up and wasnt responding to any button and suddenly shows the samsung logo.

So i'm pretty sure now that the behavior is linked to Airplane mode. I've cleared cache etc. I'm just not sure where to start. There must be something that just crashes the phone when in airplane mode. Going for factory reset is out of the question for now (well idealy). ps : it was fine under KK

Where to start/what to look for ? I'm in the meantime downloading the Android SDK, after that I'll put the usb debugging on and have an adb logcat running and force a crash again.

HTC One X :: Brightness Subtly Changing (not Flicker)

Oct 24, 2012

yesterday I thought I noticed the brightness change, but reckoned I was imagining it. Today I thought I saw it a couple of times at work. But not I can see it happening more often. I have Googled the issue and see there are a quite a few complaints about screen flicker. But my issue is different (at the moment) where the brightness dims for a few seconds then returns to previous state. I have also read comments about lowering the brightness down to below 15. I don't feel I should do this as I like a bright, crisp screen. Also I have noticed a possible issue with the battery I can't understand. The battery will have a lot of charge left and then start dropping fairly quickly. Like 1.5 hours ago it was at just over 3/4 left to go Now it's just under half with it just having being sat next me me not being used - other than checking two Facebook updates and killing all apps with Advanced Task Killer.

Xperia Pro/Neo/V/L :: Disable Auto-brightness In ICS

Jun 7, 2012

I have been reading a lot about the Neo V and I am thinking about buying one but I have just found out something really disturbing: you cannot disable the light sensor. The auto brightness feature works in a way that is undesirable to most people because the screen is too dim when in a dark room or viewing a dark video. (I looked at a friend's Xperia Play, which I think has this same "feature"... it was so dim in a darker room that it was really unpleasant to use - is it the same with Neo V?)

I have read that the only possible way to get around this is root your phone and install an application that disables the light sensor.

Of course I do not want to root the phone because I do not want to risk my warranty. But this auto brightness feature bothers me so much that I might just not buy the phone at all because it would be really annoying to have this nice phone, but with a dark, dim screen. I know, it saves battery life, but what's the point of having a nice display with a dim screen.

Has this changed at all with the ICS update?

HTC One M9 :: Auto Brightness - Dim Screen For Certain Apps

Aug 27, 2015

I have an strange, occasional problem with screen brightness. This problem has survived a factory reset and flash from Android 5.0.x to 5.1.x. I had also recently cleared the partition cache.

My screen sometimes goes very dim. I keep brightness on Auto. However, when this happens, cycling brightness to full makes no difference to the dim screen. Furthermore, the screen is dim only in some instances, such as: ChromeNova Launcher home screenSome other apps (can't recall which)

In other places, I see full brightness. For example, the notification shade is in full brightness (or whatever Auto sets it too).

The other day, I was outside in bright sunlight. My browser suddenly went dim, almost unreadable. I clicked home - dim. I pulled the notification shade down - full brightness. Pulled notifications back up - dim again. On restart, everything is fine again.

I use Screen Filter, but it was not on. In fact, turning it on darkens the screen even further.

IPhone :: Auto-brightness Actually Work?

Mar 24, 2012

When I bought my first iPhone (4) I never knew the auto brightness actually works straight away when you walk from a bright area to a darker one, or vice versa. I had an issue with the home button and later my Phone provider swapped a new one for me. This replacement iPhone 4's auto Brightness actually dimmed in lower light areas noticably and in real time. It was really handy and the way it should work.

I recently upgraded to iPhone 4S, and noticed that the auto brightness doesnt change. I checked with my wife's iPhone 4S too and its the same problem. So, I want to know, does it actually change like the miraculous replacement iPhone 4 I received or is auto brightness a "meh" function that I shouldn't expect it to change. The reason I am asking is because I find in darker rooms, the iPhone is way too bright and I have to keep changing the brightness manually.

Everytime I do this I always see the Auto Brightness funtion on and its starting to bug me that it doesn't work like my old iPhone 4 did. Can someone explain if Auto brightness actually work?
