Has anyone else observed a high-pitched whine (fairly quiet) coming from the phone at low screen brightness levels? I would just like to know if this is a characteristic of all Atrix 2 phones or just a few (like mine).
View 8 RepliesI record video using the camcorder app. I playback video and the audio has a high pitched whine / whistle or sound layered over the background audio. Sometimes the whine gets louder and sometimes lower but its aways there. Its very annoying sounding and seems like either feedback or interference or something. Anyone else experiencing this?I've tried various resolutions and zooming in and out, and lowering the volume all the way prior to entering the app (because you can't get any feedback on volume adjustment once in the app) and nothing i've tried seems to get rid of the sound. I have also tried the 3 "audio scenes" "Everyday" setting seems to be the worst, outdoors the best.

I couldnt really find any good explanation over the web. i can only hear it after ive recorded the video and ive tested it in a quiet room with no interference but its still there in the background.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA little over a month ago I purchased my first BB, a Curve 8530 from Boost and I signed up for their service. Right from the box, that phone had a very high frequency noise that I could hear when I held it to my ear and I thought it was coming from the speaker, but after some experimentation I found that it was coming from the screen whenever it was lit. So, I contacted Boost and they sent me a replacement, but the one that I have now does the same thing, and maybe even a little louder. I have owned/used a fair number of different cell phones in my life, and this is the first phone that I've ever had this problem with. Is this a common issue with this particular model of phone, or are all Blackberrys this way? If it is a known issue with the 8530, I am going to talk to Boost about upgrading me to the 9310 (that they introduced right after I ordered the 8530!), but if it is a Blackberry issue then I am going to sell the one that I have and get the Evo or the Galaxy that Boost offers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've found in the Market many apps named like "Anti-mosquito", which claim to be able to keep mosquitos away: indeed, they achieve this by playing high-pitched sounds which are annoying to mosquitos and - yes! - they work.
Of course, this can be done by just playing repeatedly high pitched sounds, which, depending on the kind of mosquito you want to get rid off, may be in the range from 14 to 25 KHz.
Since I don't know whether playing so highly pitched sounds for a long time could damage the phone, I've asked the Italian support. They looked confused, indeed.
At first, they asked which app was I asking about and said that, anyway, all apps from the Market "are developed and managed directly by Google" (sic).
Then, when I pointed out that, put aside the fact that apps in the Market are not being developed by Google, I wasn't talking about apps and software but of particular sounds and hardware, they escalated the question to their technical department.
I was asked again which app I wanted information about (!!) and then, after telling again that I meant nothing more than playing a 14-25 KHz-pitched mp3 for a long time, they answered that no, that may not harm the phone but they couldn't be 100% sure.
I've asked them about the audio playback hardware, about who produced it and whether those latter could answer. The final answer, that they suppose is enough to close my ticket, is that "nobody could say for sure that playing high-pitched tones for a long time wouldn't damage the phone".
This is a nonsense to me, since hardware must have technical specs. Does Motorola International have got a better answer?
I just got my phone and am LOVING it. I was one of the iPhone users who was hoping/ready for a larger screen and when it didn't happen I decided to look for something new. Picked up the Atrix 2 last night after a TON of research and I'm loving everything except what seems to be a bit of a bright strip on the left lcd perimeter. It's very slight but seeing as the gorgeous screen was a big reason I went with the A2, it's bothering me. It's most noticable when the screen is locked and dimmer. Wondering if anyone else can notice this on their phone as I'm thinking of doing a swap at the AT&T store.

It lasts about 2-3 seconds and then goes off by itself. What is this all about and why are these updates causing SO MUCH damage to the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a CK-100 into a vehicle. Connected to an iphone 4 via Bluetooth. Music audio is outputted through the RCA sockets into the AUX in of my stereo. Every 10 minutes or so of playing music there is high pitched noise which comes over the top of the audio. Lasts about 20 seconds and then the audio is OK again. Has anyone had this problem? Both latest firmware's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes when the camera starts focusing to make a picture, it makes a really high pitched sound. It continues when the camera has focused until the picture is made. The sound certainly doesn't come from the speakers and isn't triggered by the phone itself but purely by the camera on the back, so it has to be something hardware related.
It isn't that big of a problem, the camera certainly isn't malfunctioning, but I was with a friend today who asked me what that sound was and I'm wondering as well, since it isn't supposed to produce sounds like that.
I've been noticing recently that my Atrix generally only has about 20MB of free memory out of the 800MB or so of system memory. I thought Android was meant to manage the memory effectively but this appears not to the the case. One symptom of this is that it causes the webtop to regularly complain of lack of memory and results in Firefox automatically closing itself.

Especially when it is dark I feel like it is MUCH to bright! Is there any possibility to tell the automatic brightness control "Do it always two levels lower"?

I'm trying to lower the brightness to save battery and also save my eyesight when using in a dark room. But the ATRIX2 seems VERY limited in its ability to dim the backlighting of the display. Any firmware updates to fix this on the horizon??
Every AMOLED phone I've had has a high brightness mode. I can only presume the 6P does as well. How to enable it?

(when keyboard folded it works fine!)I can still see the screen but the brightness levels themselves flicker very fast between working / not working. in the end most of the times brightness remains not working, and in order to see the screen visibly i need to close the keyboard.sometimes though after some flickering brightness settles at its working state. ried rebooting, changing all sorts of brightness settings etc, nothing solved it

However my wife bought the Atrix2 and she says the screen shuts off on her when the she touches the screen. It is not a timeout setting either. It is REALLY bad when we are laying in bed and she holds the phone and i try to touch the screen...boom screen shuts off! She turns it on and i touch the screen...boom the screen turns off again. Is this some kind of security setting?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have this weird thing going on with my Atrix. I've had it for about six months and it was fine until now. What happens is that the touchscreen stops responding after it is turned off (pressing the power button) and back on. I can't unlock the phone, but the volume buttons are still responsive and I can still turn off the screen. If i reboot it (by removing the battery), it boots up just fine, with the screen working perfectly. It'll sometimes stop working when ending a call. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen everytime I turn off the screen, and when it happens, if I turn it off and back on it sometimes starts working again. It also seems to happen more frequently when the battery is low.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Xperia Active is barely 3 weeks old, running Android version: 2.3.4 and latest build: 4.0.2.A.0.62. My screen brightness is kept at maximum, I have never dropped this phone or abused it and rest of it's functions are running fine. Barely a week in, it seemed to have a faintly flickering screen which I thought might have just been my eyes going. This week, the flickering has been replaced by what I would describe as "breathing" - screen brightness goes from max brightness (100%) to gradual dimness (about 78% brightness) to max brightness again - without me touching anything nor am I running out of power. This happens once in a while throught the day, not constantly. Rather alarming as I am getting very attached to this little phone.
I have been checking the SE forums since the 1st week of ownership, the flickering screen problem has been reported occuring to other SE phone models, including the Mini on which the Active has been based. I have wiped all data from my phone and gave it back to the seller for their tech to figure out. My last option if unrepairable, is to ask the seller to replace the unit. what causes the screen brightness to dim then brighten by itself (despite the latest build and software).
I'm running stock 5.1.1, and even though my auto brightness is off my phone occasionally dims my display when it's on full brightness. It's not running particularly hot (37 degrees C according to my battery widget) so I don't know what's causing it to dim.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi will be browsing / using apps / unlocking my phone and the screen will just crap out and turn itself off. a little red light seems to appear at the top of the phone, which i'm not sure what that means, but it keeps doing that. i've turned the phone on and off a few times this morning, taken the battery out and let it sit for a minute before putting it back in and rebooting and it still does it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedProud Atrix owner since 2/22/11...Had to replace my Atrix today with another one because the top 1/4 of the screen became unresponsive to touch. It was a sad day. I didn't do anything to it either. Good news...My backup Pro...was able to put all of my texts back into my phone...not in perfect order...but they are there. The call log was replaced! The desktop was put just like I had it! It was a pretty good move...just lost my pictures and had to redownload everything

Im not sure if this is a google flagship fucntion, but I think if we got that with the next a future update, it could even boost future sales of the device. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people out there that want this feature. However, many have never have even seen it in person. Let us be the ones to show it off to our friends, so they in turn can envy us. That would create desires in new potential customers that only spending money could fill .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't always get email and calendar notifications (noise and vibrate) on my atrix 2 when the screen is off. If i happen to turn my screen on to make a call or something I will get notifications for emails that have come but did not trigger the notifications.
