Lumia 1020 :: Camera Making High Pitched Sound When Focus To Take A Picture
Jul 10, 2014
Sometimes when the camera starts focusing to make a picture, it makes a really high pitched sound. It continues when the camera has focused until the picture is made. The sound certainly doesn't come from the speakers and isn't triggered by the phone itself but purely by the camera on the back, so it has to be something hardware related.
It isn't that big of a problem, the camera certainly isn't malfunctioning, but I was with a friend today who asked me what that sound was and I'm wondering as well, since it isn't supposed to produce sounds like that.
For some reason today when i opened up my camera to take a few shots it had problem auto focusing on items close to me, as you know when you tap the screen to focus on a point in the screen you get the circle and a small beep to let you know it's focusing ok, it seemed to have problems getting to this point and there was an audible high pitched buzzing or clicking sound coming from the lens itself and the screen image would not come into focus
the phone has not been dropped or roughly handled so i am 100% sure it's not an issue caused by being knocked, i have tried a reset and a reboot but the issue still remains, also i have done no recent updates and there are none showing so that's not the issue either
I record video using the camcorder app. I playback video and the audio has a high pitched whine / whistle or sound layered over the background audio. Sometimes the whine gets louder and sometimes lower but its aways there. Its very annoying sounding and seems like either feedback or interference or something. Anyone else experiencing this?I've tried various resolutions and zooming in and out, and lowering the volume all the way prior to entering the app (because you can't get any feedback on volume adjustment once in the app) and nothing i've tried seems to get rid of the sound. I have also tried the 3 "audio scenes" "Everyday" setting seems to be the worst, outdoors the best.
My 1020 photos are appalling at the moment. They are just unfocused. Took photos of my daughter seeing Santa yesterday, no time to fiddle with settings. Ended up with awful out of focus shots, friends Iphone pics were fab. So fed up, I nearly missed the pics altogether because of the loading screen.
I have read lot of reviews of great 41MP Camera of Lumia1020. I can take both the pictures (seen in the camera settings and tried). Both the pics look exactly same on the phone screen and there is no meaning of so hyped 'zoom, reframe, crop, edit' thing. I can only do this on the 5MP from my phone readily if I want to share the different angled shot or something.
Have tried downloading 34MP highres pictures on PC and they look not very different from the 5MP ones. It's a great botheration for me at least as I can't show my friend's the great 41MP pictures on my phone and then zoom them to see close ups. All I can do is see the 5MP pictures (although great quality, beyond imagination of any other camera phone brand right now). How to successfully exploit the 34Mega Pixels on phone screen right after the shot is taken and should look better than 5MP.
While taking a photo in a silent environment, I just noticed that the camera module of my Lumia 1020 (running the Black update) is making a weird 'fan'-like noise - akin to when your laptop in becoming warm. You can only hear it, if the the camera module is placed close to your ear. Is this normal,
Granted I have only begun playing with the camera and the many adjustable features, but already indoor shots seem to have an unnatural green hue. I have even shot pics (in my basement) using a professional camera light to simulate day light and still the picture colors are way off no matter what setting I use or adjustment is made. I guess it's just the result of being a "phone camera"? Nevertheless I was surprised that even professional lighting bulbs yielded little better than a fluorescent or tungsten bulb. How to get better indoor pictures without daylight?
Just noticed today when I was in a quiet room - whenever the camera is in use/on I can hear what sounds like a faint fan-like hum/hiss coming from the camera.
Twice recently it has happened to me that I have completely lost pictures when reframing with the Nokia Camera app.The following has happened:
I opened a photo from the camera roll in Nokia Camera, reframed it, clicked save. As usual, the progress bar indicates that the app is working, but then an error message appears, saying nothing except "an error occured. Please try again later", and then the photo is gone.
When looking at the camera roll folder on the computer, one sees that the 5MP photo file has a size of 0 bytes, and the highres file has vanished completely from the phone.
Got a new Lumia 1020 on Jan 25, 2014.I hear a sound when I open the camera. Also when I press the back button to exit the camera app, when the lens closes, there is a sound. Is it normal with all other 1020 phones?
Also a gentle tap on the back of the phone near the camera hump, and I can hear the some mechanical sound.Does the camera rest on small ball bearings? Is this the sound of those bearings?
I travel to and fro my company by bus. The bus usually travels at 60kmph on an average. So due to road patches and connections, etc vibrations travel to the passenger.Does this constant travelling in the bus have any kind of damaging effect on the ball bearing system. Will the springs and vibration dampening capacity of the lens reduce over a period of time?
There is a sound like a "chirp"of a bird during capturing images, the moment the shutter closes. This sound is apart from the "click"sound. And the chirp sounds again after capturing during reopening of the camera after capture.
I am thinking this will be a future squeak sound. but nothing affects the focusing on video and on photos.
for some new Sony Ericsson phones (I know the W995 has this problem for sure) there is no option to turn off the camera sound or the focus sound, even when silent mode is on. Here I am going to guide you through a solution to overcome this. What we are going to do is replace the sound files for the camera sound and the focus sound with a sound which is silent, using A2uploader. 1. Download this .rar file I have uploaded with 3 sound files, namely camerafocus.3gp, camerashutter2.3gp and camerashutter2_rer.3gp 2. Currently you can choose the following sounds 1. Camera shutter 2. Bear can opening 3.Tennis ball 4. Laser The files in the .rar have been created to replace the Beer can opening sound, however if you want to keep this one, then change the number on the end e.g to replace the Laser sound the two files would be camerashutter4.3gp and camerashutter4_rer.3gp Although please note to replace the Camera shutter sound the number on the end is not 1, but is no number at all e.g. camerashutter.3gp and camerashutter_rer.3gp3.Now you connect your phone to A2uploader (see Tutorial on main website for how to do this) and go to tpa/presets/system/sound and drop all 3 files into this folder. If you want to keep the sound you're replacing right click on it and click 'read' this will create a folder ph_out with this file in it.4.Shut down A2uploader, switch on phone and bobs your uncle! You can also add other sounds, I created a Gavin and Stacey one here but I will happily accept requests for others.Hope this helps! I bought two Xperia z2 in USA, from www.amazon.com website. My phones are color black and white. The white phone's camera problem. Such as When I take a picture, the picture out of focus.
A little over a month ago I purchased my first BB, a Curve 8530 from Boost and I signed up for their service. Right from the box, that phone had a very high frequency noise that I could hear when I held it to my ear and I thought it was coming from the speaker, but after some experimentation I found that it was coming from the screen whenever it was lit. So, I contacted Boost and they sent me a replacement, but the one that I have now does the same thing, and maybe even a little louder. I have owned/used a fair number of different cell phones in my life, and this is the first phone that I've ever had this problem with. Is this a common issue with this particular model of phone, or are all Blackberrys this way? If it is a known issue with the 8530, I am going to talk to Boost about upgrading me to the 9310 (that they introduced right after I ordered the 8530!), but if it is a Blackberry issue then I am going to sell the one that I have and get the Evo or the Galaxy that Boost offers.
Since I updated the phone on Monday with the latest Sony release 5.0.2 Build Number 23.1.A.1.28 the phone suddenly omits a loud buzzing sound like an out of tune radio station. It lasts about 2-3 seconds and then goes off by itself. What is this all about and why are these updates causing SO MUCH damage to the phone?
I have just installed a CK-100 into a vehicle. Connected to an iphone 4 via Bluetooth. Music audio is outputted through the RCA sockets into the AUX in of my stereo. Every 10 minutes or so of playing music there is high pitched noise which comes over the top of the audio. Lasts about 20 seconds and then the audio is OK again. Has anyone had this problem? Both latest firmware's.
My phone updated a few days ago with all the other Sprinters and I just noticed 2 issues I now have with the camera. I was taking a few pictures and getting an error about the Duo Camera being blocked, it went away after I went down the menu and changed settings. Nothing was blocking the cameras, no case, no fingers, both lenses were clear.Today I tried to use my TD Bank mobile deposit and the camera would not focus when I tried to snap a picture of the check. Worked fine before the update.
only got the phone a week or so ago. Just goes to show how often I do use the camera button. Although I might not use it all the time, I would still like the button to work. Especially if I want to take pictures on the rain or underwater.
So basically the camera button does not take the picture but it does focus. Also camera does not open when you press the button.
Has anyone else observed a high-pitched whine (fairly quiet) coming from the phone at low screen brightness levels? I would just like to know if this is a characteristic of all Atrix 2 phones or just a few (like mine).
i was wondering if anyone else had the problem with a high pitched noise in the background of a video recording during the playback of the video? I couldnt really find any good explanation over the web. i can only hear it after ive recorded the video and ive tested it in a quiet room with no interference but its still there in the background.
I've found in the Market many apps named like "Anti-mosquito", which claim to be able to keep mosquitos away: indeed, they achieve this by playing high-pitched sounds which are annoying to mosquitos and - yes! - they work.
Of course, this can be done by just playing repeatedly high pitched sounds, which, depending on the kind of mosquito you want to get rid off, may be in the range from 14 to 25 KHz.
Since I don't know whether playing so highly pitched sounds for a long time could damage the phone, I've asked the Italian support. They looked confused, indeed.
At first, they asked which app was I asking about and said that, anyway, all apps from the Market "are developed and managed directly by Google" (sic).
Then, when I pointed out that, put aside the fact that apps in the Market are not being developed by Google, I wasn't talking about apps and software but of particular sounds and hardware, they escalated the question to their technical department.
I was asked again which app I wanted information about (!!) and then, after telling again that I meant nothing more than playing a 14-25 KHz-pitched mp3 for a long time, they answered that no, that may not harm the phone but they couldn't be 100% sure.
I've asked them about the audio playback hardware, about who produced it and whether those latter could answer. The final answer, that they suppose is enough to close my ticket, is that "nobody could say for sure that playing high-pitched tones for a long time wouldn't damage the phone".
This is a nonsense to me, since hardware must have technical specs. Does Motorola International have got a better answer?
When I start any camera app on my Lumia 1020 the picture is blurry if I'm pointing the camera at anything over 6 inches away or so. When I push the camera button in it attempts to focus. Sometimes it will focus on distant objects the way it should, but most of the time it does not and everything stays blurry. This happened after receiving the latest update(not sure what update version). I've tried reinstalling Nokia Cam but it does not fix the problem. I haven't tried resetting to factory setting yet because I do not wish to have to redo everything on the phone.
When I try and take my photos off the 1020 with my PC it only shows one of each photo I took I think its the 34mp photos but not sure I thought it would have doubles of each photo a 5mp and a 34mp since I got it set to save both in the pro camera settings ...
Does it saves both to camera roll or does it save the 5mp somewhere else for sharing from the phone cause only one copy of each photo is on the phone camera roll ...
So, I know that you couldn't access the High Res Photo from the Pro Cam apps unless you open it with a computer, now, how do I access those high res photo that I processed in Lightroom ?
Finally took the plunge and bought a 1020. Just starting to learn how to use it and was wondering how I can access the hi res images ? In the settings I selected 5mp & 34mp in "Capture Mode," but when I connect the camera to my pc, all I see are the low res images.
