My S6 (SM-G920F) is still on Lollipop 5.0.2 rooted with PingPongRoot.
Can I safe use FF to upgrade to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and keep root without tripping Knox??
I read somewhere (on this forum) that this is not possible but just want to make sure before I decide to update.
I do remember times when we could use OdinMobilePro and update S4 and keep Knox untouched.
I was reading that flashing a custom rom normally would trip the counter but if done via Flashfire it wouldn't trip...

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I live in Sweden and bough my phone in June. Had KE2 on it and wanted to update to KE7 with Kies but it wasn't available at the time, so I used a guide on this site to update it manually through odin.
Anyway after that I went away to a place with no good internet connection for 2 months and didn't really keep up to date with this site. Now I'm back home and want to root this phone to improve battery life and get the wiimote app to work.
1A. Since I updated to KE7 using Odin, and not Kies, is it dangerous to root the phone?
1B. Do I need to debrand and update through Kies if a new update is available?
2. Will the Wiimote app work if I root the phone?
3. Is there a guide to follow on what to avoid after rooting so I don't brick the phone?
I just bought S6 and here are problems that I encountered: Phone is unbranded, sim-locked, I performed factory reset too (soft).
1. Firmware installed is 5.0.2 and I wanted to update to 5.1.1 but there is no option in About Device -> Software update. This button is simply missing ! First time I see something like this
2. I did soft factory reset again, still missing.
3. I wanted to do hard reset but after holding up volume up+home+power and selecting factory reset option I get "No command" message and phone reboots to normal operation.
4. Smart Switch nor Kies sees my phone. Phone is detected by windows and I can access the storage. (I tried with all of the USB modes)
I understand the PRL update; but I'm not sure what Update Profile means.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just update my S6 to MM, but i'm not able to set a custom font anymore. With Lollipop i was able to install a custom font with IFont and apply it from screen settings. Now IFont still can install the font, but once you try to apply from settings, it says that it's not supported and it asks if you want to unistall it.

And when I enabled it back on and tried to update the app over the Play Store it gave me this weird error telling me that it cannot install the update. Tried to identify by a notification logger but does not show anything, the phone just pings with no led flash... I heard its a yahoo app but I do not have yahoo account or on my phone.

I have a Verizon S6. After the 5.1.1 update, most of my widgets aren't working. Some will half work ei: Doggcatcher podcast widget, will not change album art but the play pause button works. Google Play music will not load, Verizon Wireless data usage will not load and the Google search bar will not work.
I have cleared cache, restarted the phone, power cycled . Both gave different results. The power cycle really killed the widget.
I bought the phone from the US and using it in the UK. every time I try to update to 5.1.1 it says 'software update interupted'

For one the update has completely screwed up her ability to connect to our home WiFi network. The other downloaded the update, then rebooted to install, which it started to do, but five or so seconds into it, it stopped and went directly to the home page with no install. OF course, now I have to wait another 24 hours to re-try the download (and whoever came up with THAT i24-hour thing should be fired). Is there a way to just directly install what was downloaded without having to wait the half-hour or so it took to download?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy galaxy s5 went under an automatic update last night to 4.4.4 and now my contacts are stuck. The contacts list won't load and keeps saying "updating contact list." Once in a while a message comes up that says "unfortunately, contacts has stopped." I've tried everything short of a factory restart (which I don't want to have to do) . This update is terrible, I have slow speeds, freezing screen and the contact issue.

A few things changed for the better, but for me, the SMS Notification Sound is gone.
The LED lights up, but no notification sounds period.
I had restarted the phone several times for other reasons, so that ought to be taken care of.
I decided to go through a complete reconfiguration of the phone's default settings for every notification sound thinking that maybe, just maybe they needed to be "pushed again" to "fix it". Kind of like VZW nullifying our Voice Mail and not telling us that it will go away.
None of that made it give me the Chirp Sound when a message came in. Okay, just maybe after a new configuration has been done, it does not take effect until you Restart the Phone??
Couldn't be.But it was............ I did a restart once again AFTER having gone thru the configuration settings, and now the birds are chirping again when I get an SMS.
She's on T-Mobile and was going to do the update to 5.1 but battery was low so she chose the update later option. She wants to call up that downloaded update since she's got too little space left to download it again. How does one recall the previously downloaded update? Her battery was low or she'd have just gone through with the update.

I'd like to make the installation as smooth as possible. What are your recommendations for moving from Android 4.4. For to lollipop. I had TouchWiz when I got the phone, but I wanted Google now.
