View 1 RepliesJust got a new Samsung Galaxy S6 phone. I have set the fingerprint and backup password to unlock the screen. How to change the backup password?
I have searched a while on Internet. The solution found couldn't work for me. The screen of their pages look different.
I can't seem unlock my device using fingerprint or backup password. The fingerprint animation isn't playing and doesn't recognise that I am swiping the home button.I have tried entering the backup password and it says I have entered it incorrectly when I am for certain entered it correctly.Changing keyboards doesn't fix this. Restarting the phone and removing the battery and SD card does not fix this.
I have previously registered for the Google Device Manager and have tried locking my phone, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need to have an Internet connection or GPS on my phone to do that? If so, I can't connect to the internet or activate GPS due to it being locked. Is there any way around this?
I really don't want to factory reset my phone unless it's the only last option I have. And I have contacted Samsung support regarding this and am waiting for a reply. I will update if they have replied to my message.

We backed up a phone that had been encrypted prior and the user forgot what they had used for the encryption password. Is there any way to unlock this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a new phone and set fingerprint password. It didn't really work so I got rid of it and just used a PIN. Now that I got my scanner fixed I want to use it again but it needs the backup password which I don't have. I tried scanning my finger and it didn't work. It will not let me scan again and is asking for the backup password for it to be able to open. I am not locked out of my phone rather I just need the backup password to change some settings. I would like to know if there is a way to reset the backup password without resetting my phone and keep in mind I am not locked out and still have full access just not the backup password? I have tried android device manager also the samsung one and cannot seem to find it. I do not want to reset my phone and am rooted.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S6, and for my unlock screen I use a pin. However, for some applications, I use a fingerprint unlock as well as a pin.
Recently, the scanner was unable to read my fingerprint so my phone disabled the fingerprint unlock option and came up with the notification "Enter backup password to verify fingerprint." I thought I remembered the right password, but apparently not, so I am unable to change or update my fingerprint at all.
From what I've read, a lot of people have problems on the lock screen, but my lock screen is fine since I use a pin, I just can't remember my backup password for my fingerprint. I've already tried Samsung's Find My Mobile, and I would really like to avoid doing a factory reset.
how I either reset my backup password or somehow change my fingerprint?
Already tried remote access online but that doesn't work because my phone isn't connected to wifi or MD tried putting wrong password in for a reset option that hasn't happened and i cant for the life of me remember my backup password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using samsung browser and I scanned fingerprint to autofill username and password for a website. and I failed the fingerprint scan too many times. And it wants me to enter my backup password. I don't remember what it is. The phone is not locked. I use different security - pin, pattern, etc. But I cannot access fingerprint section. Is there any way to get passed that or reset the backup password?
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot my new phone yesterday. Apparently I did the fingerprint set up but now it doesn't recognize my fingerprint and what the backup password is. I can change the regular access password but apparently that is different than the backup password needed for the fingerprint set up.

as lock out and don't want do factory reset,as i would loose my all data and photos.
if you have an ecrypted Samsung Galaxy S5 you already know that once you've encrypted it your only option for a screen lock is to enter a secure password. This gets annoying fast. When you want to access your phone quickly on the go it can be difficult to unlock it with any speed. Well I've come up with a way to get past the password lock screen with the same speed as a password and consistently quicker than the finger print scanner unlock.
What I've done and I've included on how to do it yourself instructions below. I've set my password to be one of my hot key options on my Samsung keyboard. I've also shortened my delay for the long press but how to do that isnt included here. (hopefully with screen shots we'll see first time attempt at posting pics here)
Doing this will allow you to quickly get by your lock screen and still have an encrypted device.
**NOTE** This is not a substitute to remember your password. Know it regardless of this being setup or not.
**NOTE** If you have auto space turned on (factory default setting) you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the added space or you will receive an incorrect password error message.
Here's how to do it:
1. Enter the pull down menu and click settings.
2. Tap Language & Input.
3. Now click on the samsung keyboard settings icon.
4. Next if turn on the my hot keys icon.
5. Enter your password under any number to long press to have it typed.
*Don't forget if you have auto space on you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the space or your password will not work.

View -1 Replies View RelatedOkay so my dad wants to get into the security option in his phone to add a fingerprint, however to do so required the backup password.
Knowing my dad, he had forgotten the password and cannot get in here, the only suggestion we have found is reset your phone which obviously is a bit last resort.
I have found some suggestions I. e. sign in your Google account however that did not work nor did a suggestion which was to go in private mode and from there it will prompt the fingerprint and make that default.
so my question is how do I restart the password?
Galaxy S6 Edge - get "unable to recognise your fingerprint" message - gives "Emergency Call" only option (why not "Backup Password" option) - trying to tap on Backup Password doesn't work on the "Power On" screen doesn't work and the "unable to recognise fingerprint" message pops up after about 5 seconds. I've tried tapping on the "Backup Password" option about every time - no luck. How can I access my device???
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife turned her Galaxy S5 on yesterday, slid her finger across the scanner to open the phone and it came up with the print not recognised message (as it has many times before). This time however, it did not allow her to scan her print again. the screen changed and asked her for a back up password, not a problem as she has done this a fair few times too, it just seemed strange that it only allowed one stroke of the scanner before asking for this. We have tried her back up password many times (and any other password we could think of) but the phone will not unlock, nor will it return to the normal lock screen and allow her to try her print again.
We have logged onto Android device manager and tried the lock screen hack (to obtain another password) but it just tells us that the screen is already locked so another password is not necessary.
I visited the Apple Store in Glasgow and was advised to restore my Iphone 3G to resolve Safari issues. I did this with no problem, but I am now being asked to "Enter the password to unlock your iPhone backup". Trouble is that I don't know which password is required. My wife gave me the phone when she got an iPhone 4S. The AppleStore password for software is the original one used by my wife. For more recent software, the AppleStore password is my own AppleStore password. I also need a password when installing software for my MacMini. The phone also has a 4 digit user lock number. Which password do I use to unlock iPhone backup?
- Original AppleStore
- My Applestore
- MacMini installation
- User phone unlock

I imagine this is so it can simply edit the old backup, but can't I just create a new backup?
