Has anyone been able to negate this requirement affectively? And if so with a Mac? Just got a new Samsung Galaxy S6 phone. I have set the fingerprint and backup password to unlock the screen. How to change the backup password?
I have searched a while on Internet. The solution found couldn't work for me. The screen of their pages look different.
I can't seem unlock my device using fingerprint or backup password. The fingerprint animation isn't playing and doesn't recognise that I am swiping the home button.I have tried entering the backup password and it says I have entered it incorrectly when I am for certain entered it correctly.Changing keyboards doesn't fix this. Restarting the phone and removing the battery and SD card does not fix this.
I have previously registered for the Google Device Manager and have tried locking my phone, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need to have an Internet connection or GPS on my phone to do that? If so, I can't connect to the internet or activate GPS due to it being locked. Is there any way around this?
I really don't want to factory reset my phone unless it's the only last option I have. And I have contacted Samsung support regarding this and am waiting for a reply. I will update if they have replied to my message.
My 4 digit unlock code will not work and now the phone is disabled until I sync with iTunes, but when I plug the phone into my Mac it will not sync. I don't want to restore and lose all of my contacts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedLast year I bought the nexus 6 and for the first time (I've had a lot of android phones) in my phone was also disabled force encryption after the bootloader unlock, twrp and root. So I decided to decrypt it because reading on the nexus 6 forum some devs suggested this to increase the phone performances.
I read that now twrp supports encryption and that Google increased the phone performance also with force encryption enabled.
after having to do a total wipe, my media card has now been encrypted. It only seems to affect music and other media file storage, that sort of thing.so whenever I try to sync anything, I cant access it, and I get this message."A media card has been inserted that contains encrypted files. Please enter the device password that was used to protect these files: "The problem is; the password I was using before it was wiped must've been, well, wiped...it doesn't recognize any password I used previously as valid...

My device was not currently encrypted.I did encrypt it successfully once about a month or so ago, but didn't like the performance nor having to type my password each time to unlock the device. So I perfromed a Master Reset / Factory Data Reset. The device has been functioning fine up until today.

I wanted to set up some form of encryption for obvious reasons, and I am sure I just had to set up a password - now I have realised that there are other methods such as the pattern or pin, which I would prefer, but it will not let me click to change to any of the other options.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI visited the Apple Store in Glasgow and was advised to restore my Iphone 3G to resolve Safari issues. I did this with no problem, but I am now being asked to "Enter the password to unlock your iPhone backup". Trouble is that I don't know which password is required. My wife gave me the phone when she got an iPhone 4S. The AppleStore password for software is the original one used by my wife. For more recent software, the AppleStore password is my own AppleStore password. I also need a password when installing software for my MacMini. The phone also has a 4 digit user lock number. Which password do I use to unlock iPhone backup?
- Original AppleStore
- My Applestore
- MacMini installation
- User phone unlock

I've just requested an unlock from my carrier (Vodafone UK) and for my number to be ported out. After both had happened I tried to follow Apple's support instructions, which told me to: backup the phone using iTunes; erase all content and settings; and restore from backup.
The restore fails subtly. It looks like the phone has unlocked -- with my new SIM it picks up the new carrier (T-Mobile UK). However, it seems to be stuck in a cycle that last about 7 seconds. The main slide-to-unlock screen appears, but is unresponsive. A few seconds later it flips to a black screen with the time-is-passing clock dial icon. This happens repeatedly. I'm using: iTunes 10.6.3.25 which has upgraded the iPhone to iOS 5.1.1
I can use iTunes to convert it to effectively a new phone that works fine, without any backed up content, using a factory restore.
- Is this a known problem with a known solution? I can't find anything matching the symptoms on the web.
- Is it worth booking in a visit to the Genius Bar?
Failing that, I have a backup with the content I want, I can open the files and see e.g. all the message history. Is there a reliable way of partially restoring the phone's content (say all contacts and message history) rather than a blunt iTunes restore-from-backup?
