Galaxy S5 :: How To Change Encryption To Swipe / Pattern / PIN Instead Of A Password
Apr 20, 2014
I am new to Android having just bought an S5, previously I had a Nokia Lumia. I wanted to set up some form of encryption for obvious reasons, and I am sure I just had to set up a password - now I have realised that there are other methods such as the pattern or pin, which I would prefer, but it will not let me click to change to any of the other options.
Im tring to change my xoom password from the pattern one to the pin, but I just cant find the option on the location security menu. Do I have to reset the device?
I had MobileIron installed on my S5 for work .. I thenfollowed all the details to uninstall it but now I can't get back to just swipe. I can only use password or fingerprint ... I went into Security and "Cleared All Credentials" and that didn't work.
have the pattern code set and it used to just time out if i forgot the code or got it wrong but i had to do a factory reset the other day and now it asks for theG mail password instead of timing out.
How do i get the phone to offer both options again also why have i got to be signed in to g mail on the pc for the phone to accept the password?
Returned home to restore my phone from previous backup made a day earlier and all of a sudden a password encryption was needed to access my last saved back up. Has anyone been able to negate this requirement affectively? And if so with a Mac? I am really really frustrated as I need my text messages out of my last backup as evidence in a custody battle with my ex wife.
after having to do a total wipe, my media card has now been encrypted. It only seems to affect music and other media file storage, that sort of thing.so whenever I try to sync anything, I cant access it, and I get this message."A media card has been inserted that contains encrypted files. Please enter the device password that was used to protect these files: "The problem is; the password I was using before it was wiped must've been, well, wiped...it doesn't recognize any password I used previously as valid...
We backed up a phone that had been encrypted prior and the user forgot what they had used for the encryption password. Is there any way to unlock this?
I entered a password pattern hoping I could dump the goofy swipe lock in favor of the password pattern. Now I find out I can't get rid of the lock page or the password pattern. So I am swiping the lock page and then doing the password pattern.
The upgrade to Gingerbread has been seamless aside from one issue that has recently popped up. I prefer that the only screen lock on my phone is the slider, but suddenly this option has gone away. When I hit the lock button, I expect that my phone's screen will go off and in order to turn it back on, I need to hit the lock button again and slide to unlock it. I do not want to enter a pattern, a pin, or a password. In order to get the slide lock to consistently show up after hitting the lock button, I need to add a pattern, pin or password. The slide lock will show up, but I also have to enter the pattern, pin or password after unlocking with the slide lock if the security lock timer setting has elapsed.
I hated the screen lock on my G5 ( only had it on one day)so tried to get rid of it - typed in password - then I tried an option and it asked me to type in password again and confirm 2nd time. Maybe I tapped in something wrong which didn't match ( did it without my glasses) - but it annoyingly said wrong password now and keeps saying it's the wrong password. What now? I can't find anywhere how to turn screen lock or password off or to reset/forgotten password or the like. Who can I get in touch with if problem is bad. I don't want to factory reset and all that malarky. I've had the phone for nearly a year on my contract and what the hell made me do this stupid thing I don't know. There should be a caution warning on it. Is my phone going to lock me out once the lock sets in if I don't use the phone for 5mins or whatever the activation time was?
I often find myself waking out with a locked up phone. I use fingerprint and no matter how many times I reset my alternative password, it somehow magically changes and I cannot 'remember' it.
I used to lock my phone with android devide manager to fix this but now when i try to do so it says ''Since Google has confirmed that the screen lock is already set, entered password will not be required '' and now i cannot unlock my phone by entering a new password. I dont' want to do a factory reset, what is up with this?????
Is there a way to change the swipe direction for deleting mail? I am left handed and swiping to the left is awkward when I'm holding the phone in my left hand.
I've had my LG G3 6 months now, and overall I like it - but I *loathe* the swipe to answer calls function! 9 times out of 10 it doesn't work and so I keep missing calls whilst furiously swiping & jabbing my finger over the screen. Is there any way I can change it to something more simple, like pressing the home key? I've looked through all of the settings and googled, but can't seem to find a way around it.
I've a galaxy s6 with stock rom. I've rooted my device and I like to encrypt my device. But when I do so, it stuck on the encryption screen for 1 day. When rebooting, the device tell me to wipe the phone because of a failure of encryption.
I am planning on encrypting my phone but i was curious about the benefits of going full encryption rather than fast. I know that encryption has negligible impact on battery and speed.
I did encryption as I want to sell my phone, now it just keeps booting to "Encryption failed", I've factory wiped, formatted date, flashed stock firmware in Odin, still the same.
I want to block my N900... but wen i go to the blocking options and touch "change password" the phone ask for the old pass.. i dont change that pass in any moment and i dont know how can i change the numbers cuz i dont have the previous pass... the phone box was open in my face and no one change that...
