Galaxy S5 :: How To Turn Off SD Card Encryption Notification

Feb 3, 2015

I have encrypted the SD card on my Verizon S5. Now there is a constant message in notifications:

SD card encryption
SD Card encrypted

Anyway to turn that off? I know it is encrypted,I had to take action to do that. It did this with KitKat and still doing it with Lollipop.

I just like to keep notifications cleared out.

Since the update with Wifi calling, once the phone powered up, it prompted me to add a lock screen. I did not have an SD card in the phone. I thought it was my work pushing it as part of the Exchange policy, but after deleting the account, it remained. I added a card last night, but am still unable to turn the encryption off.

Nokia :: E72 Memory Card Encryption

Jan 24, 2010

Setting up card encryption goes through the motions but appears to instantly encrypt the card! Given memory encryption takes a few minutes, it looks like nothing actually happens. Indeed, trying to decrypt the card doesn't do anything! Haven't yet tried to read the card in another device, but I suspect it isn't. Other reportson the net concur with this. Given that encryption was one of the main reasons for looking at this phone, this is a bit of an issue.

Nokia :: E72 Bypassing RAM / Card Encryption

Mar 29, 2010

I just realized something interesting with my E72 - people can access my data even without knowing the password.Details are as follows:
-E72 firmware 022.007. Both memory and MicroSD card are encrypted. Phone set to auto-lock at every 20 minutes.I have an alternate home screen application installed (Voyager Home Screen) and just noticed that possible to invoke Voyager even after the phone has been "locked" (encrypted). Using Voyager I can load up any file management tool, for instance X-Plorer and access the card and any files. All one has to to is unlock the keyboard, there is no need to know the lock code or input it.Perhaps this has something to do with the way Voyager Home Screen works but it made me realize that perhaps the data isn't secure at all.even with encryption.

BB Curve :: Micro SD Card Encryption And Access?

May 16, 2011

I am looking for some help on getting access to media that was encrypted on the 128MD micro SD card that came with my original BB Curve (qwerty). Some time back my original BB was damaged and my company's internal IT dept gave me a temporary Curve BB (azerty). That BB came with an SD card which I replaced with my original SD card. When my new BB Curve (qwerty) got in, I handed over the temporary one (azerty) and kept my original micro SD card. Now I need to access the content of that micro SD card and am having a hard time doing so.

I can't remember if the original micro SD card was only encrypted with a password or a device key as well.
I have tried to use what I think the encryption key was on the micro SD I need to access by use of the new BB Curve (qwerty). I get my 5 try's then remove and re-insert the micro SD card.

All this to no avail. Now, the content is very important to me and I am willing to go through any formal process to get at the content. Can anyone tell me how to reach someone at RIM (BlackBerry) to discuss this, or if there is any legal way of getting at the content. (I can confirm the content before it is decrypted).

The issues I have here are:

1) not sure if the card was encrypted with a password and a device key (in which case I have a further dilemma in that the original device (BB Curve qwerty) has been retired and is no longer available for use) or just a password. Is there a way to find this out?

2) Because I use so many different passwords on all the devices I have to use, I am not even sure I am trying the right one for this micro SD card. Plus having gone from a qwerty to azerty, then back to a qwerty keyboard, I am not sure I am using the right password to decrypt. I am however able to provide the full password if given the 1st character of the encryption password.

I am not looking to do anything illegal but truly need to access the encrypted content. As such I am reaching out to the community and looking for any help available such as contact at RIM, formal process to decrypt, hints, clues. Anything to move this forward.

Eseries / Communicators :: Unable To Format SD Card After Encryption Error?

Apr 2, 2012

I encrypted my memory card, worked ok for months. Today I showed a buddy of mine the encryption application, which asked if the memory card should be encrypted (encryption was already enabled). No Keyfiles/Passwords where asked for. The Phone crashed after that (hard reset after 5 hours). So the card is now encrypted, but there appears to be no valid key file on the device... So we have the usual issue: encrypted card, no keyfile or password. My problem is different in the following aspect: I don't want to recover any data - I just want to reformat the card and use my last (weekly) backup. However the phone won't let me do this. The following steps were taken to solve this issue without success:A complete Restore using the PC Suite does not restore any memory card contents or keys. The memory card stays "corrupted", encrypted and unwritable."Format Memory Card" says "card corrupted". Upon issuing the format request it says "Another application is using this memory card. Proceed" (which I confirm, as I suppose the crypto driver grabs the device) and then the program does nothing. It returns to the starting screen with "memory card corrupted".ReEnabling Encryption with a different key keeps saying that "No keys found", even after setting a new one. Sidenote: Even with a new key the card can't be formatted, as described above. The Phone was reset (using *#7370#, the 3+*+Green never worked on my phone) to factory defaults. Still the card was correctly recognized as encrypted and remained unusable as described above.Using a PC to format the memory card fails, as only the first 512kB appear to be writable (using dd under linux to write sequential zeroes). Despite writing this zero-dump, the phone still recognizes the card as encrypted, which implies that data on the card survived that crude zeroing attempt. Interestingly enough I can create a FAT32 Filesystem on these 512KB (not quick format), which appears to have no effect on the phone considering the card encrypted...The card is ok, since it was only removed after the problem occured. This must be an encryption issue. I suspect that the "Read Only" Password was set on the SD Card (hardware side, not E71 software) and hence all read/write operations are declined by the card.Is there any way to actually reset the encryption state of this card? As I previously said: I am not trying to recover any data, I just want a cleanly formatted microSD card..

Galaxy S5 :: Why Doesn't Phone Turn Off When Get A Notification On Lock Screen

May 24, 2015

Why doesnt my s5 turn off when I get a notification or when I check the time On lock screen. This been happening for the past days. I had about 55% of battery and when I got off work it was dead. I then later charged my phone and noticed that when I get a notification on the lock screen it won't turn off right after the notification showed. when I turn on the phone to check the time on the lock screen it doesn't turn off. it would usually turn off seconds later. This has been draining my battery. if I have a full battery at night and disconnect it and throughout the night I get a text message the lock screen would turn on and never turn off,and then in the morning I'm left with a dead phone or a 3% left, or when I disconnect the phone it doesn't turn of neither. How do I set it back to how it was. I already factory reset?

Nokia :: E72 20 Minutes Timeout For Full RAM / Card Encryption Is A Total Pain

Feb 19, 2010

After over 2 monhts heavy usavge, I'm quite happy with my E72 so far, except for some memory leak issues.I did get a bit annoyed by the fact that the auto-lock feature cannot be set for more than 20 minutes. One of the resons I got the E72 was the strong RAM+Card encryption but I expected it to be a bit more flexible. It is true that having a forced lock timeout helps protect your device (you'd forget to lock it sometimes) but there are certain occasions where I find this extremely annoying. For instance:

-When I am at home I find no need to have it locked all the time.

-When I am at work and the phone is always next to me, I find annoying that it auto-locks every 20 minutes when I'm using it as an audio player - makes you have to unlock when you want to interact

-In certain applications, it is annoying that it autolocks and you can't interact. One example is Sygic Mobile GPS software that crashes when it locks. With other software it would be annoying too as you'd be locked and unable to interact with the phone in any trip taking longer than 20 minutes. So I have two suggestions

-Make the maximum lock delay a bit longer - for instance 60 minutes.

and/or

Give us an option similar to what you get in timed Profiles, for instance, "Stay unlocked until hh:mm" - This would be handy when you're home and well... no one is going to steal your phone/access it/lose it.

Motorola Droid Razr :: SD Card Encryption Enabled - Options To Recover Data?

According to this Motorola FAQ about their Android encryption, "When SD card encryption is enabled, all new files added to the removable memory will be encrypted. Files stored on the card will not be readable via another phone or card reader connected to PC. User can transfer files from encrypted SD card to PC using embedded Phone Portal application." So what happens if a user encrypts their data and their phone dies? They will not have the opportunity to transfer it to a PC and the replacement phone will have a different ESN. Is their data recoverable via any other mechanism or is it lost forever?

Galaxy S5 :: Orange Circle Notification Number - Facebook And Email Apps - How To Turn Off

Feb 26, 2015

On the app icons for Facebook and Email, I have orange circles with a number in them showing new emails or Facebook notifications. I want to make the orange FB notifications DISAPPEAR. My belief is that since I see that orange # show up so frequently, with every new comment to a FB post, that my device must be pushing notifications and checking FB every 10 minutes, wearing down my battery. So I would like to end that.

I have already:
1.Gone to App Settings > Refresh Interval and said NEVER
2.Gone to App Settings > Notifications and choose INACTIVE
3.Gone to Account Settings > Notifications > Mobile Push and UNCHECKED everything
I have also gone to Device Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Facebook and UNCHECKED Show Notifications.

The same orange circle with number of new emails show on my email icon, but I don't mind that so much. However, if I can disable it, perhaps I can find my way to disable on Facebook.

Galaxy S6 :: Boot Sound Locked When Using Encryption

Sep 12, 2015

I just want to preface this by saying I cannot root my phone. Not because I am incapable but because this is my corporate phone and I would no longer be able to use it for work related things if I rooted it.

I am using a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy S6. Every person I've come across that has an S6 or newer samsung phone is able to boot up on silent and not get the samsung noise when the logo comes up. I tried doing a hard reset on my phone just to test to see if my phone would boot silently if I set it on "Mute" mode and it did WITHOUT encryption but I am forced to use encryption by my company's device management policy app or I can't access other things like my e-mail.

How to get the device to boot silently without rooting with these factors in mind? I reached out to samsung and they were clueless. As far as the support knows, the phones cannot boot without the noise even on "Mute" mode which is clearly not the case.

I've tried the Silent boot app as well with no success. I've noticed this happens only when encrypted and upon checking the volume settings on the screen where you have to put your encryption password after booting up, the volume settings are kicked back to default.

Galaxy S5 :: Not Accepting Encryption Passcode After Lollipop Update

May 6, 2015

I upgraded to Lolipop about a week ago. Everything was good.

Today however, I changed my device unlock passcode from PIN (6-digits) to a full password (6-characters). I restarted my device shortly after, as I knew the phone was encrypted and wanted to ensure the encryption password was updated accordingly. Now it's not taking the new 6-letter password, nor my old 6-digit PIN on the unencrypt screen. I'm down to 8 attempts left before it will factory reset. (update: ended up having to factory reset...)

I can assure you that I remember the 6-letter password I entered as my new one, since I restarted right after I changed it, and it's the same one I use for many things.

I run and support our MDM platform for our company and have had 3 users report the same problem. I was skeptical at first, thinking these people simply forgot their passcode, but now I am in the exact same boat as them.
