Setting up card encryption goes through the motions but appears to instantly encrypt the card! Given memory encryption takes a few minutes, it looks like nothing actually happens. Indeed, trying to decrypt the card doesn't do anything! Haven't yet tried to read the card in another device, but I suspect it isn't. Other reportson the net concur with this. Given that encryption was one of the main reasons for looking at this phone, this is a bit of an issue.
I have a Nokia E71 and I done a Encryption on the phones memory and then it started running very slow.So I did a decryption on the phones memory and its still running slow, I have read the intructions manual and its turn off Encryption but this can only be done when decrypting memory card. Now am so disappointed because my phone is running so slow.
I just realized something interesting with my E72 - people can access my data even without knowing the password.Details are as follows: -E72 firmware 022.007. Both memory and MicroSD card are encrypted. Phone set to auto-lock at every 20 minutes.I have an alternate home screen application installed (Voyager Home Screen) and just noticed that possible to invoke Voyager even after the phone has been "locked" (encrypted). Using Voyager I can load up any file management tool, for instance X-Plorer and access the card and any files. All one has to to is unlock the keyboard, there is no need to know the lock code or input it.Perhaps this has something to do with the way Voyager Home Screen works but it made me realize that perhaps the data isn't secure at all.even with encryption.
i own a 5800 and when i tried to access to the memory card through the file manager it says the card was corrupted. but when i inserted the card in a memory card reader, it works accept that i cant eject it and a pop-up window came out saying an error occured while ejecting the card. it is a 8Gb memory card. i found a solution similar to my situation but is there any other alternative ways that doesn't require me to download huge files?
for something reason, my phone started to be DAMN slow and laggy, when i try to go menu, it takes about 10 seconds to get to menu, and all is laggy in this phone. When going to file manager, seems it doesnt find memory card, even it is inserted. Then when removing memory card, phone works normally and not slow, fast. What is wrong with my 5230, why it doesnt find my memory card and why inserting it makes so slow? I would like to get it work because it has all my music and pictures etc...
After over 2 monhts heavy usavge, I'm quite happy with my E72 so far, except for some memory leak issues.I did get a bit annoyed by the fact that the auto-lock feature cannot be set for more than 20 minutes. One of the resons I got the E72 was the strong RAM+Card encryption but I expected it to be a bit more flexible. It is true that having a forced lock timeout helps protect your device (you'd forget to lock it sometimes) but there are certain occasions where I find this extremely annoying. For instance:
-When I am at home I find no need to have it locked all the time.
-When I am at work and the phone is always next to me, I find annoying that it auto-locks every 20 minutes when I'm using it as an audio player - makes you have to unlock when you want to interact
-In certain applications, it is annoying that it autolocks and you can't interact. One example is Sygic Mobile GPS software that crashes when it locks. With other software it would be annoying too as you'd be locked and unable to interact with the phone in any trip taking longer than 20 minutes. So I have two suggestions
-Make the maximum lock delay a bit longer - for instance 60 minutes.
and/or
Give us an option similar to what you get in timed Profiles, for instance, "Stay unlocked until hh:mm" - This would be handy when you're home and well... no one is going to steal your phone/access it/lose it.
HOW CAN ICHECK THE MEMORY STATUS FOR BOTH THE PHONE MEMORY AND THE MEMORY CARD AND CAN I CHOOSE THE MEMORY CARD AS MY PRIMARY MEANS OF STORAGE ESPECIALLY FOR MUSIC AND PHOTOS.
I need some body, tell my how can I install ovi content on the memory card when I use Wifi on my handset 5800.cause all programs immediately goes and installed on phone memory and it is almost full
Totally new to this phone, with the option to download applications. Having great fun in doing so but not always given the option of where to save them to with the end result that they are saving to the phone memory which keeps filling up and then giving me an error message. Can anyone please tell me how to move apps from the phone memory to the card memory. And can anyone also tell me if I have an icon on the 'Menu' screen and the 'Apps' screen, does this mean the application has been downloaded twice and do I need both or can I delete one (presumably the 'Menu' one)?
I recently bought Nokia 5800. When installed any jar or .sis files on Card Memory, eventually my Phone Memory is getting used. Even though I am very diligent in selecting Card Memory while installation, Phone Memory is getting reduced. Kindly Help me please.
Have just been sent new E72 as my old one died (see my other post). All is well except when i connect to PC via USB cable and select 'Mass Storage' I get the message 'Memory Store Unavailable' on my phone and cannot access the contents of my memory card. I have the latest firmware on the phone. I can access the card through nokia PC Suite but that's a pain and I never had this problem before with my old E72.I'm running XP - if I go to my computer and double click 'Removable Disc (E' I just get the 'please insert disc into drive E' message.
I have come to 'Memory Low ' error message and have a question about that.I am not using additional applications, just default ones.I am not using mail.I clean web cache. What I have though is a lot of Saved Pages. As I noticed that my memory is geting low, I deleted my music using File manager and deleted some Saved pages. Problem is that used memory is still the same like it was before I deleted the files. I suppose that my deleted files gone to recycle bin or something like that? How can I REALY delete it (without reset)? And another question: Is there a way to save (transfer) 'Saved Pages' to memory card?
I want to replace my current memory card for one of a bigger capacity but want to move the apps that are stored on it over to the new card. Not sure how to go about this or even if you can.
I have an E72. By default, all the text messages were being saved on the phone memory. I've now changed that to the memory card. How do I transfer the messages from the phone memory onto the memory card? I have a mac and not a PC.

I cannot seem to find where and how to turn on the device memory encryption on E7-00? Does this even have the feature? Former E series devices used to have 128 bit AES encryption with ability to export the key. Security code and/or remote locking is not enough, I NEED the proper encryption like in my previous E75.
I am trying to bluetooth stuff to my phone and it tells me that my phone memory is full, but I have a 1gb memory card. How do I send the stuff straight to my memory card?

I've recently tried to change my message storage space. Using the "Others" settings option, I changed my text message memory to my memory card. And I was given the option of copying the messages over to my memory card, and saving the original messages. If I am not mistaken, I now have duplicates of messages on both my phone memory and my memory card. if new incoming messages will be stored on phone memory or memory card? and how do i delete the messages from my phone memory? which is better, to save on my phone or my memory card?

Made in Korea ME56H032NACA - 7A D 8CFD0000 704 Now my main problem is that i have forgot my card password I have some data on it that is real important to me has sentimental valor (hope my spelling is ok)is there a way for me to reset the password without formating the memory card ?I'm desperate ! what should i do ?
My phone wouldn't recognise unlock code so it wiped everything and when it rebooted I saw for the first time in 18 months that I needed a media card encryption code which was used to protect files so I presumed was the same as new unlock code but its not and I've lost music and photos and downloaded files?
after having to do a total wipe, my media card has now been encrypted. It only seems to affect music and other media file storage, that sort of thing.so whenever I try to sync anything, I cant access it, and I get this message."A media card has been inserted that contains encrypted files. Please enter the device password that was used to protect these files: "The problem is; the password I was using before it was wiped must've been, well, wiped...it doesn't recognize any password I used previously as valid...
I am looking for some help on getting access to media that was encrypted on the 128MD micro SD card that came with my original BB Curve (qwerty). Some time back my original BB was damaged and my company's internal IT dept gave me a temporary Curve BB (azerty). That BB came with an SD card which I replaced with my original SD card. When my new BB Curve (qwerty) got in, I handed over the temporary one (azerty) and kept my original micro SD card. Now I need to access the content of that micro SD card and am having a hard time doing so.
I can't remember if the original micro SD card was only encrypted with a password or a device key as well. I have tried to use what I think the encryption key was on the micro SD I need to access by use of the new BB Curve (qwerty). I get my 5 try's then remove and re-insert the micro SD card.
All this to no avail. Now, the content is very important to me and I am willing to go through any formal process to get at the content. Can anyone tell me how to reach someone at RIM (BlackBerry) to discuss this, or if there is any legal way of getting at the content. (I can confirm the content before it is decrypted).
The issues I have here are:
1) not sure if the card was encrypted with a password and a device key (in which case I have a further dilemma in that the original device (BB Curve qwerty) has been retired and is no longer available for use) or just a password. Is there a way to find this out?
2) Because I use so many different passwords on all the devices I have to use, I am not even sure I am trying the right one for this micro SD card. Plus having gone from a qwerty to azerty, then back to a qwerty keyboard, I am not sure I am using the right password to decrypt. I am however able to provide the full password if given the 1st character of the encryption password.
I am not looking to do anything illegal but truly need to access the encrypted content. As such I am reaching out to the community and looking for any help available such as contact at RIM, formal process to decrypt, hints, clues. Anything to move this forward.
