I cannot seem to find where and how to turn on the device memory encryption on E7-00? Does this even have the feature? Former E series devices used to have 128 bit AES encryption with ability to export the key. Security code and/or remote locking is not enough, I NEED the proper encryption like in my previous E75.
I have a E5-00 (OS version 042.007.227.01). I use Mail for Exchange for email. Encryption is mandated by my work email server. Several applications, including Ovi Store and Maps, will not start with phone encryption enabled. Disabling encryption means I can use the mentioned applications, but as soon as I sync the mail, the encryption is back on.
I'm trying to delete the trial version of Kaspersky Mobile Security from my E71. The message I'm getting after starting the deletion process from the application manager is: "Before uninstalling KMS 9.0, disable Encryption and Privacy Protection."where on Earth do I do these seemingly simple tasks? I have not been able to do either task and I have a feeling it is a ridiculously simple process. I'm admittedly new to Nokia E71 smartphones and fully understand this is blatant operator failure on my end. I seem to be getting in a loop on the FAQ and other means of resolution.
I encrypted my memory card, worked ok for months. Today I showed a buddy of mine the encryption application, which asked if the memory card should be encrypted (encryption was already enabled). No Keyfiles/Passwords where asked for. The Phone crashed after that (hard reset after 5 hours). So the card is now encrypted, but there appears to be no valid key file on the device... So we have the usual issue: encrypted card, no keyfile or password. My problem is different in the following aspect: I don't want to recover any data - I just want to reformat the card and use my last (weekly) backup. However the phone won't let me do this. The following steps were taken to solve this issue without success:A complete Restore using the PC Suite does not restore any memory card contents or keys. The memory card stays "corrupted", encrypted and unwritable."Format Memory Card" says "card corrupted". Upon issuing the format request it says "Another application is using this memory card. Proceed" (which I confirm, as I suppose the crypto driver grabs the device) and then the program does nothing. It returns to the starting screen with "memory card corrupted".ReEnabling Encryption with a different key keeps saying that "No keys found", even after setting a new one. Sidenote: Even with a new key the card can't be formatted, as described above. The Phone was reset (using *#7370#, the 3+*+Green never worked on my phone) to factory defaults. Still the card was correctly recognized as encrypted and remained unusable as described above.Using a PC to format the memory card fails, as only the first 512kB appear to be writable (using dd under linux to write sequential zeroes). Despite writing this zero-dump, the phone still recognizes the card as encrypted, which implies that data on the card survived that crude zeroing attempt. Interestingly enough I can create a FAT32 Filesystem on these 512KB (not quick format), which appears to have no effect on the phone considering the card encrypted...The card is ok, since it was only removed after the problem occured. This must be an encryption issue. I suspect that the "Read Only" Password was set on the SD Card (hardware side, not E71 software) and hence all read/write operations are declined by the card.Is there any way to actually reset the encryption state of this card? As I previously said: I am not trying to recover any data, I just want a cleanly formatted microSD card..
I have a Bold 9700 upgraded to OS 6 about 1 year ago, in the last 2 - 3 months my phone seems to freeze constantly and the only way to stop it is to pull the battery. Another issue I'm having is that I get an "application memory low" message about twice to three times a day asking me to delete applications, I am now down to two applications on my phone....a banking app and a music app....and I'm still getting the message.
I have a problem that my E5 keeps telling me it is out of memory, to the point where it has become unusable. I've deleted applications and messages, but it seems to keep filling up and either tell me memory is low or that it is out of memory.
Options -> Memory -> Phone Memory tells me that there is over 200MB in 'Other Files', but File Manager doesn't show them and neither does the file explorer I downloaded from the Ovi Store. So I have no idea what can be taking up all the space...
I don't seem to be the only person with this problem, and since I've deleted as much as I can I don't see how it can be my fault! I am getting so frustrated with this phone
E71 says not enough memory but when tried to delete some data, its still the same. Tried restore factory settings and still the same. I can no longer change the settings of my phone book, last name first.
I keep getting the 'C' memory low message. I only have 17.7mb left I have most items on E mass memory. I Have gone through the C memory and the below are the only items with any significant file size. Config = 86kb, Log = 157kb, Mail for exchange 26kb, Place widget 17kb, Sound files 118kb, adimagetemp 12kb, Bur_debug 43kb, debug.log 21kb, ka3d-log.txt 89kb, MdfpluginArchive.txt 27kb, Everything else is eithr 0 or bytes only, with about three more less than 10kb each.
what I can delete safely. I am no expert, however I do not see why the above quantity should be using up so much on the C memory?
I have taken back to factory settings and transferred data to PC under Nokia Suite Make Space option.
I've tried to update the software (maps 3.1 + Python2.0) on my E52 via the software updater on both the phone itself and the Nokia PC Suite but it doesn't want to do it, despite the fact that I have 14GB (!) free memory on the sd card and also sufficient internal memory. It gives the message: 'Not enough memory for update. Delete soms data and try again.'
I have the latest firmware update. Does anyone know a fix?
I have about 170 -190. Need to know if it is abnormal cause recently my background running applications like Gravity have been simply closing down silently.
I dont have any content in Memory card or on phone memory but it shows 100% full, i dont want to format my nokia E72 and to fix this i had even upgraded to 91.004 but things didnt help, can u guys help me. Secondly, i m seriously facing a problem is with battery life, when i connect to WiFi using Jaiku Hotspot my battery which shows full gets 0.
Can anyone else suggest what could be taking up so much space? I have gone onto the phone in Windows Explorer, and while that confirms the low memory I cannot find a file taking up so much space.
New E7, latest firmware, my first day of playing. Loaded about 7G of music on to the mass memory. Mass still had 7.2G free. Then I deleted the music files, however I still have only 7.2G free, according to both the File Manager on the E7, and to the MAC I connect via USB. Cannot see anything which is using much memory at all. I wonder if there is a hidden trash file? Also, is there a way to see file and directory sizes using File Manager? Very nice phone, but a bit of a learning curve - trying to wean myself off a Psion 5mx and a 10yo Nokia 6210.
I wasn't able to back up all my information via PC Suite as the connection kept going, so I backed it all up to my memory card. The phone is now working OK (including connecting to PC Suite) but I can't see the option to restore the information (calendar and contacts) from my memory card to my phone. I know it should be in File Manager, Memory Card, Options, but the option simply isn't there- I can either remove my memory card, or back up my phone to the memory card which as it has no information on it I don't want to do!
option for expanding internal memory in the Nokia E50 mobile.I have around 70MB of internal memory(in that I have used around 35MB for installations & Contacts & Messages). If I browse something like yahoomail then it is working fine.if I open some sites which consumes more than 1MB then I am getting an issue like "memory fill close some applications" So I am willing to expand my internal memory in my phone.
I've tried everything I can think of including a hard reset (volume down, camera, menu and power) and re-flashing with Ovi-Suite. And I still can't access the mass memory. It won't show in windows and if anything tries to write to the mass memory it will throw up the error 'mass memory in use'.
My Nokia E71 (it's black so it may be an E71x, I guess) keeps giving me out of memory errors. I use my phone for nothing but voice calls, text messages, and emails. I have cleared all call logs, deleted all emails except 5 (they have no attachments) and cleared deleted emails, and deleted all text messages. I went into file manager and made sure there are no images, videos, etc. on the phone. I set up options to use memory card for emails. I've turned the phone off, waited 15 or 20 seconds, and turned it back on.
I did all this a couple weeks ago. Ever since then. every couple days I get these out of memory errors, and the phone memory shows me 119 MB used and something like 300K free. I'm at the point where every few emails that come in, I have to delete all emails, erase all text messages, etc. or the phone is just too low on memory to operate. I don't have any additional applications installed. I've even tried to delete built-in apps such as RealPlayer but it didn't seem like that was possible.
My E72 has been oddly sluggish of late, without me having made any changes at all. Just now I checked the phone memory in File Manager. Have deleted absolutely everything superfluous in Phone memory except anythign system-related of course.I am also constantly getting this flipping message, whether accessing mail or not.Website has sent a certificate which is out of date." with the option: Accept anyway? > Accept this time only or > Certificate details (which are basically) imap.mail.ovi.com ... ... valid from 29-08-2011)
I have just bough a Lexar 32GB class 10 Micro SD card that I am trying to use to replace the current 8GB class 4 card in my Nokia E72. I am trying to copy the data that is on the old card over to the new card. I have used the Nokia suite to make a backup and then resort that back up to the new card but then some of my apps are not there. I have also tried to copy the conents of the old card to the my computer using a card reader and then copy this to the new card (inclusing all hidden files, using Windows Explorer). This gets me more apps back but not everything. So, what is the best way to upgrade the memory card an keep all the data?
I updated the software on my E63, while the memory card was taken out. After the upgrade, when i re-insert my memory card, its asking for password. No password was ever set on the card. I dont want to lose my data
On my phone phone memory automatically goes low day by day, even wifi do not install applications on phone memory. I have checked phone memory details and approx. 112 MB other files.... What are those other files and how to delete them?
I change memory card form 2 GB to 4 GB in my nokia E5, but there is a problem, the device show that card as NO Name and I am not able to found how to rename the card..
I installed a 32gb Kingston memory card on my E5, used the phone to format it and restored data manually from my old memory card via USB/PC.. and am having several issues.OviMaps is no longer displaying street maps !When I take pictures, ~1MB files are created on my memory card in the pictures folder, but they are not readable by the phone or a PC.Ovi Suite says everything is up to date, and E5 does not allow you to download specific maps.
MY E7 keeps indicating that my memory is full. How do I divert all the stuffs on phone memory to the detached memory card. It keeps saying memory low and its so annoying.
I have an E63 phone with 1GB memory card. I am able to change settings for storing photos and music in the memory card. However, the sms that I receive get automatically saved in phone memory and I am not able to find how to change the setting to memory card.
So my Nokia E71 got **bleep**ed up and Straight Talk replaced it. I put my old memory card into my new phone. Whenever I turn it on it starts to install something... then ends up saying "Untrusted software on memory card. Go to application manager to install"There are old apps I had installed on my old phone in the app manager that I can't remove, and I think this may be the problem. when I try to remove them it says it failed. I can't see those apps in the OS or use them. They just appear as installed in the app manager. What do I do??
