Samsung Galaxy S II :: Gmail Password Pattern Option
Nov 12, 2011
have the pattern code set and it used to just time out if i forgot the code or got it wrong but i had to do a factory reset the other day and now it asks for theG mail password instead of timing out.
How do i get the phone to offer both options again also why have i got to be signed in to g mail on the pc for the phone to accept the password?
I am new to Android having just bought an S5, previously I had a Nokia Lumia. I wanted to set up some form of encryption for obvious reasons, and I am sure I just had to set up a password - now I have realised that there are other methods such as the pattern or pin, which I would prefer, but it will not let me click to change to any of the other options.
I'm having a problem with the new Android, 2.3.4 while using ActiveSync to connect to my corporete email on Exchange Server ... A corporete policy gets pushed to my phone and I need to accept it. OK, no problem ... I accept it, but the Lock screen settings ( under Settings -> Location And Security -> Change Lock Screen ) only allows the "Password" option, saying the other options,e.g. the PIN way is remotely disabled by administrator, although that is NOT the case. I've double checked with our system admins on this. Our system admins are NOT forcing the "Password" option ... they're OK with just using the PIN, and I had it like that, in the old 2.3.3 version !For this setup ... this will display the long PASSWORD for lock-screen, instead of just a PIN which is what I prefer to to use instead:
This policy is NOT forced by our admins, since this is the policy:Here are my complete Password tab settings on the server, so you can see the admins are NOT requesting this long password ( PIN is enough! ):
Require Password - checked Require alphanumeric password - unchecked <--- attention, this is UNCHECKED. Enable password recovery - checked Require encryption on the device - checked
[code].....
But with this update, you need the following for the unlock screen of ActiveSync for Exchange Server:6 letters, and one number in the previous version ( 2.3.4 ) you needed 6 letters, TWO numbers and one sign I want to be able to use ONLY 4 letters PIN, as it is allowed on our network, as you can see in our policy just pasted above in this thread!
I've just purchased an S6 G920F from Kogan. I'm coming from a GPE HTC One M8. I'm currently trying to get it setup (just on wifi, no SIM inserted yet). I really want to use GMail app for mail because don't like the built-in one, and like how GMail syncs calendars and contacts from outlook.com and Exchange servers - and I've been using it no problem for a while now.
Problem is - on the S6 when I go to add an account, I don't actually have an option for Exchange - just POP and IMAP. It seems that GMail was baked in to the ROM as I'm unable to remove it.
I set the trace a pattern security system for the phone. Later when trying to do two things at once I got the pattern wrong five times. I then compounded the problem by getting the succeeding attempts wrong as well until the phone locked me out. Like many others it seems I set-up my gmail account without recording the pertinant details, gmail address and password, these are the requirements to unlock the phone. The official X10 user guide is no help on the subject. I have also been to various websites looking for advice and have found no information at all, apart from don't do it of course! I went to a phone shop and their advice was to use PC Companion to reset the phone but of course I need to mount the phone in order that the software sees it. I am resigned to resetting the phone as the solution as I am backed up but even if I reset I will still need the gmail info to enable all of the Google features. I know it is the result of being a dufus but it seems like a bit of a terminal cul-de-sac at the moment.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 5, using Virgin Mobile Account. When they set up my phone we used a password I don't remember. Is there any way for me to view my existing password or a utility I can buy to show it.
My question is about the contacts. Currently I have Gmail contacts, FB Contacts and T-mo Contacts (my carrier) How can I ONLY use the Gmail Contacts. I also want the phone to auto sync with Gmail contacts to update when ever a change is made.
Okay so my dad wants to get into the security option in his phone to add a fingerprint, however to do so required the backup password.
Knowing my dad, he had forgotten the password and cannot get in here, the only suggestion we have found is reset your phone which obviously is a bit last resort.
I have found some suggestions I. e. sign in your Google account however that did not work nor did a suggestion which was to go in private mode and from there it will prompt the fingerprint and make that default.
My boyfriend just got the Samsung Galaxy S2. He is coming from an iphone4. He managed to get all of his contacts from his iPhone onto his PC, gmail recognizes all 1715 contacts! He synced his Samsung with gmail yet his phone only picked up 1406 contacts. Where are the other 300? They are contacts that he uses everyday like mine, and friends. But they have disappeared between gmail and the phone.
is it possible to set the gmail app to only sync every hour or something? at the moment i can only find a sync or no sync option. my old i8910 could set a chedule.....
I looked all over the forum and no one seems to have this issue. My Galaxy S2 I9100M does not have any option to modify my user interface font in Display. Is there an upgrade that I missed or is there a problem here somewhere?
Don't suggest using the gmail app instead of the stock. I want to use the Samsung email native app and I have my reasons. Now, I have tried what seems like every way possible to get gmail working on the native app but I get emails hours late sometimes the next day. I am using the proper server setting per Google:
In the app I have under sync schedule "Auto(when received)" and "notify me when email arrives" checked. The part that makes this worse is I can get it to work on non-stock apps like AquaMail using the SAME settings, but again, I want to use the native app.
Maybe I am going blind but I cannot find anyway to change the notification tone just for Gmail. know I can in the non Gmail email app.I just want to know by the tone what email account has received email without looking.
Just recently when I access my gmail app on my phone, I have no way of scrolling up or down. It also freezes once I open it and the only way to get off of the screen is hitting the home button which freaks the phone out. I have also seen an error message which I did not take down the exact file launcher problem it was encountering.
I've installed K9 mail app., do I have to do a factory reset to incorporate my G mail into K9, or is there a workaround I can do to include/assimalate the existing G mail a/c into K9
Im tring to change my xoom password from the pattern one to the pin, but I just cant find the option on the location security menu. Do I have to reset the device?
I entered a password pattern hoping I could dump the goofy swipe lock in favor of the password pattern. Now I find out I can't get rid of the lock page or the password pattern. So I am swiping the lock page and then doing the password pattern.
When I click mode only a few options come up.. selfie.wide selfie.interval shot.virtual shot and download. For those of you who say click download. I have already tried there is no slow motion option there either. I have seen other people's s6's when they click mode the slow motion option is there from the start. I'm worried. The slow motion option was one of the main reasons I got the phone .

I have been using the samsung calendar for a while now, and HAD a default set up with my desktop Google calendar for 3 different reminders on each so I dont forget, oversleep etc. anyhow It seems that when Google calendar STOPPED sending SMS messages earlier idk this month or last month I have NOT been able to set up more than ONE reminder even from a appt set from my phone, after the first reminder is set the green plus sing is no longer there to add more. I CAN go into older appt's and edit and the multiple reminders are still there and the green plus to add more is there and selectible. I am assuming it has something to do with the google calendar so what is up?
I set the homescreen on my S2 but every time I press the square button the option returns and I cant find a way of deactivating it. I kill the app but this does not resolve the issue and neither does wiping the phone and starting again.
