My question is about the contacts. Currently I have Gmail contacts, FB Contacts and T-mo Contacts (my carrier) How can I ONLY use the Gmail Contacts. I also want the phone to auto sync with Gmail contacts to update when ever a change is made.

Love the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!
My boyfriend just got the Samsung Galaxy S2. He is coming from an iphone4. He managed to get all of his contacts from his iPhone onto his PC, gmail recognizes all 1715 contacts! He synced his Samsung with gmail yet his phone only picked up 1406 contacts. Where are the other 300? They are contacts that he uses everyday like mine, and friends. But they have disappeared between gmail and the phone.

Previously it was synced to another Gmail account. Even though the phone said all has been synced (to the new Gmail), nothing appeared when I login to the new Gmail account contacts.

View 5 Replies View RelatedDon't suggest using the gmail app instead of the stock. I want to use the Samsung email native app and I have my reasons. Now, I have tried what seems like every way possible to get gmail working on the native app but I get emails hours late sometimes the next day. I am using the proper server setting per Google:
Incoming settings
IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Security type: SSL (always)
Outgoing settings
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Security type: SSL (always)
In the app I have under sync schedule "Auto(when received)" and "notify me when email arrives" checked. The part that makes this worse is I can get it to work on non-stock apps like AquaMail using the SAME settings, but again, I want to use the native app.
have the pattern code set and it used to just time out if i forgot the code or got it wrong but i had to do a factory reset the other day and now it asks for theG mail password instead of timing out.
How do i get the phone to offer both options again also why have i got to be signed in to g mail on the pc for the phone to accept the password?
Maybe I am going blind but I cannot find anyway to change the notification tone just for Gmail. know I can in the non Gmail email app.I just want to know by the tone what email account has received email without looking.

It also freezes once I open it and the only way to get off of the screen is hitting the home button which freaks the phone out. I have also seen an error message which I did not take down the exact file launcher problem it was encountering.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, so when I am in the compose message view I start typing a name to send a message to and the phone shows me all numbers for that contact, even if I deleted that number... for example say my contact Lewis upgrades and gets a new number, I edit his contact, deleting the old number and replacing it with the new. Then when I type LEW into the compose message "to" section it shows all numbers ever stored under that name, if you know what I mean..? So i am typing someones name getting multiple numbers even if they only have 1 number to there name.This also seems to be the case if someone registers a number to FB and I overwrite that number with a new number

I don't want every fb 'friend' to appear in my phonebook, so how on earth do I do this so that it's not going to delete them all each day. I have this same problem with both of them.When I go into Email and try to pull up the list of my contacts I can only see about 7 of my 50 contacts. The screen will not scroll to display all the contacts.It first was not working on my wife's phone. I checked it on my phone and it was working when I first tried it but it stopped working as I was testing the scrolling function. Now neither phone will scroll so you can see all your contacts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my un-locked S2 for over a year now and due to inactivity on the registered gmail account I am no longer able to use my phone for navigation or anything else that looks for me to be logged into my gmail account before proceeding.
I've searched for any answer that would avoid the "recommended" restore to factory defaults (which deletes all my apps, photos, etc). I found one reasonable "work around" which required running the root explorer APK, which I installed and ran only to get the message "application closed unexpectedly". Perhaps my phone has to be "rooted" to use this apk or it is simply corrupted.
Can anyone recommend a way to save all my data but change the "primary gmail" account? I could root the phone, if necessary but would like ideas before going that far afield.
When i got my Galaxy S2, i had no problems adding photos to people in my contact list, but just recently, every time i search for that contact to add a new photo or update it, regardless of whether the contact already has a photo or not, it comes up with "Contact not found"??
These are the steps i am using (in case there is another way):
* Open photo from Gallery
* Touch Phone Menu (Comes up with Share Via, Set as and More along bottom)
* "Set as"
* Choose Contact photo
* Type name into "Find contacts"
* Immediately comes up with "Not found"
How to take backup of contacts(sim & phone memory), And wanted to restore this backup contacts if any mobile upgrades.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy missus has just bought the SGS2 - she previously had a Blackberry Bold 9780.The issue we have is getting her contacts from the BB to the SGS2.You cannot copy the contacts to the sim in the BB so I have had to do a backup of them using the BB desktop manager. That saves them as an IPD file.So how can I now get those loaded onto the SGS2?Will KIES recognise such file?

In the contacts app, Im sure there used to be a way where by if you were syncing your facebook account, status updates and media would appear in the contact (In Contacts). This doesnt appear to be the case anymore.
