Samsung Galaxy S II :: Backup WP7 Contacts For New GS2?
Sep 29, 2011
I'm selling my WP7 phone tomorrow and getting a Galaxy S2 sunday when AT&T releases it and wondered if anyone here has come from WP7 to the GS2 and found a good way to back up the contacts for the transition.. I do use Google mail and calendar on WP7 for my email and appointments, are my contacts and numbers saved through Google?
Is there some way that I can backup the sim card contacts only to my PC?I have tried using Kies but although it can bring up my phone contacts, it will not bring up my sim card contacts.I am using ICS.
Every day I get this message at the top of the screen stating:
"CONTACTS BACKUP" - network connection failed.
When I click it to get rid, it appears again the next day ..... I've been into the Contacts Menu and looked at Import/Export and More/Settings but I don't really know what to cancel or untick.
Does anyone know a way to backup the contacts from a Samsung Mythic to PC? Samsung had the bright idea of removing this feature from the new versions of PC Studio. With the Impression, I could do it with older versions of the software, but the old software does not connect with the Mythic.
I am looking for a backup app that will backup everything. I have city maps to go but it does not seem to backup the downloaded maps for some reason just the app.
How can i get my contacts off my old samsung sch-a930 and onto my new blackberry curve 8530? they swapped my contacts at the sprint store but then most of them disappeared later that evening. now i'm trying to get the contacts off my phone and i'm having trouble getting it to work with bitpim. i've done this several times in the past with the same phone. i updated to the newest version and the program sees my phone, but when i click on "get data from phone" nothing shows up at all under phonebook or recent calls. it sees all my ringtones though. anyone know what's wrong or how i can get these contacts off the phone?
my samsung galaxy s2 last weekend (big mistake). Unable to find so far, apps are out of the question as it was lost in Dublin so no data connece early but does anyone know if it would be possible to restore a pre-ICS backup to a Samsung Galaxy S3?Reason im asking is that I have a year to run on my contract, no phone insurance other than household so I think my best option is to buy out my contract. So rather that be stuck on a Samsung Galaxy S2 for two years I could get a Samsung Galaxy S3
How do I back up my apps?I don't understand how Kies work?
Kies doesn't have an option that says it backups apps? Gives me backup options of messages, phone contacts, settings etc but not apps? When I tell the program to back up everything. I just get ONE sbu file? Can I not back up apps individually?Even backed up on SD card is better then nothing?
I just tried to backup my phone on my PC using Kies. I excluded all the media files because I have them on my PC anyway, and not all that much spare space. However, then I started to get an error message that my PC was low on disk space.
I checked and my free hard drive space had gone from around 6GB to about 60 megs.
Does anyone know where the Kies backups are stored on my PC, so I can see if the backup was the culprit?
In anticipation of ICS I'm trying to backup my wife's SGSII. I'm using Kies as I don't know if there's any viable alternative. My problem is with backing up the Schedule (calendar?) component. All the other bits seem to backup ok.However, just selecting Schedule (on its own or with other parts) it takes ages 'preparing' and then gets to 98% before hanging and then failing due to some unexpected error.I'm on the latest version of Kies, and Windows 7 64bit (tried on two computers, both W7 64).
My screen on my SGS2 is shattered. Before I have it fixed, I'd like to backup everything via Kies (I haven't backed up in a while before my phone fell). My phone goes on when switched on, the soft buttons light up like usual - I'm taking this as signs of normal functioning. But I simply cannot seem to get my phone to talk to Kies via USB connection through my PC. Also, am I right in assuming that the 'touch' on the screen wont work if its cracked?
Is there any way I can backup my phone before I send it in to be repaired?
Love the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!
I'm consistently getting an error when trying to backup my call log in Kies (2.3.2.12054_20). I can backup everything else but the call log. I get this on 2 computers I have.
This is the error I get:
Data backup cannot proceed because of an unexpected error. Please connect the device and try backing up again.
Is "Root" required for the call log to be backed up? If so, how is this done on the S II?
Ok, so when I am in the compose message view I start typing a name to send a message to and the phone shows me all numbers for that contact, even if I deleted that number... for example say my contact Lewis upgrades and gets a new number, I edit his contact, deleting the old number and replacing it with the new. Then when I type LEW into the compose message "to" section it shows all numbers ever stored under that name, if you know what I mean..? So i am typing someones name getting multiple numbers even if they only have 1 number to there name. This also seems to be the case if someone registers a number to FB and I overwrite that number with a new number
Recently I changed phone from sony x8 to Samsung Galaxy min, but before I changed phone, I did backup for all contacts, apps, etc.The backup file from Sony X8 is .sbf file and cannot restore into Samsung Galaxy mini even though both phone are Android.or can I download software that runs .sbf file on my computer to get all contacts?
I've set my phone to auto backup my photos when I'm on my wi-fi and also plugged in and charging. It says my backup has failed with a little yield logo with an exclamation point. I clicked the manual refresh circle to the right of that message and it keeps failing. If I view my photos in the Gallery almost all of them have only the device card symbol, and only a few from when the phone was new have the colored logo on the duplicate photo.
I spent ages yesterday individually connecting each phone contact to their fb account and then today all of a sudden they all just dissapeared again! I don't want every fb 'friend' to appear in my phonebook, so how on earth do I do this so that it's not going to delete them all each day. This phone won't defeat me, it has such good reviews so I am baffled why I am having problems.
I recently purchased 2 SGS II phones - one for myself and one for my wife. I have this same problem with both of them. When I go into Email and try to pull up the list of my contacts I can only see about 7 of my 50 contacts. The screen will not scroll to display all the contacts. It first was not working on my wife's phone. I checked it on my phone and it was working when I first tried it but it stopped working as I was testing the scrolling function. Now neither phone will scroll so you can see all your contacts.
When i got my Galaxy S2, i had no problems adding photos to people in my contact list, but just recently, every time i search for that contact to add a new photo or update it, regardless of whether the contact already has a photo or not, it comes up with "Contact not found"??
These are the steps i am using (in case there is another way):
* Open photo from Gallery * Touch Phone Menu (Comes up with Share Via, Set as and More along bottom) * "Set as" * Choose Contact photo * Type name into "Find contacts" * Immediately comes up with "Not found"
My missus has just bought the SGS2 - she previously had a Blackberry Bold 9780.The issue we have is getting her contacts from the BB to the SGS2.You cannot copy the contacts to the sim in the BB so I have had to do a backup of them using the BB desktop manager. That saves them as an IPD file.So how can I now get those loaded onto the SGS2?Will KIES recognise such file?
My question is about the contacts. Currently I have Gmail contacts, FB Contacts and T-mo Contacts (my carrier) How can I ONLY use the Gmail Contacts. I also want the phone to auto sync with Gmail contacts to update when ever a change is made.
I have SGS2 Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) updated via kies.
In the contacts app, Im sure there used to be a way where by if you were syncing your facebook account, status updates and media would appear in the contact (In Contacts). This doesnt appear to be the case anymore.
I am about to do some travel and was wondering if this phone would add +61 to your stored contact phone numbers and minus the zero. I am in Australia and just need this Country Code. My wife has an IPhone and she can do that easy in one of the menu's somewhere. Does this phone do this if not is there an app capable of doing.
Wth vodafone and i am switching to t-mobile and have a new samsung galaxy s2.I want to transfer all my old contacts (and calendar appointments if possible) from the blackberry to the new phone.
I need a hard copy of my contacts, or at least an electronic copy that i can access. I am preparing to turn in my phone and don't want to lose my data.
