Galaxy S5 :: Custom Tones Disappears
Apr 8, 2015I have a SGS5 on Verizon wireless with the most recent software update from last week.This morning I changed my phone's battery and my custom ringtones--for Gmail and stock messaging apps--are no longer working and no longer appear as options in the settings for both apps.The custom ringtone files are still on the phone.I've tried re adding them, and copying them to different folders; I also tried searching for any of the existing stock sounds but nothing comes up with I search for "Postman" "harp" or "dew drops."

Jun 28, 2011I have created a folder called media/audio/notifications on my sd card put an mp3 10second track on it, this appears in settings/sounds/ notifications along with the standard ones, it will play if i test it there (pressing the round button) click ok and the original ta da sound plays when i get a text. if i open settings/sounds/ notifications my new track is still highlighted. i got this phone cos i don't distinguish sounds too well and this is urgently needed.

Sep 20, 2015I have gotten my custom mp3 files assigned to different contacts but the default notification sound overrides them so they all sound the same. I know there has to be a way to have each contact have a different tone because it was added as far back as s3 which I also currently still own as well and would like to have my contacts all have different tones so I know who's texting me.

Oct 8, 2015I got a used samsung 5 phone from tmobile because my original one broke. After a few hours, the phone became very slow and sometimes unresponsive. I tried to do a reset but then a warning came up, saying how the phone is a custom os and resetting it might cause damages to the phone. Mar 18, 2010I loaded some custom tones into my iphone via SSH, and 3 of them will not work. The files are fine, I checked. They have the right names and everything. But they don't play on the phone. I deleted the original files before overwriting, if that helps clarify things. I have been trying to figure this out all afternoon and I am about ready to sell the iphone and get a Nokia or something.

Samsung Galaxy S II :: Is There A Way Of Turning Off Stock Notifications (without Custom ROM)
Jan 29, 2013just picked up an S2 from sprint as a replacement for HTC Evo.Great phone all around, however i`m having one issue. HTC Sense UI has an option to preview messages(2lines) and missed calls right(who and time) on lock screen. This is really handy option with small kids around you dont have to unlock your phone.Since S2 is missing that I've downloaded Notify App which works great.However - I cannot turn off stock notifications - they still show up - so at this time I have to clear notifications twice - once in App and once in Notifications Bar. Is there a way of turning off stock notifications (without custom ROM)? On all other phones i had - there was an option to go to Settings Privacy and uncheck the notifications. This is missing on S2 - all i can see under privacy is Reset to Factory.I really like the phone and how smooth it is. At this point i really dont want to do a custom ROM (`ill root it if need it)

May 30, 2012just getting to grips with my new android phone ( dragging myself into the 21st century as my daughter informs me ) so using the functions is still new to me. However one thing I have found is that, unlike my old Samsung Monte, I can't assign individual test alert tones on a contact basis so that all have the same alert. Looking through forums it seems the way to go is to use a separate app that will do that and seems that there are three mainly recommended - chomp sms, handcent sms and Go SMS Pro. So I have two questions, firstly does anyone have recommendations as to which may be the better to go for of the three or have a better sugegstions. Secondly anything I need to do when installing an app on an android phone, probably a dumb quetion to some but I'd like to have use of my phone for more than a week before managing to blow it up

Apr 9, 2010I recently installed the new OS (.607) for the Storm 2 9550 (Verizon) using DM. Everything seemed to go over well; didn't backup my contacts and lost BBM contacts (i didn't think to back them up, Whoops :x ) Anyway, i had SMS alert tones for specific contacts which i had edited while adding the contacts when i first got the phone, back in October/November. When a said person texted/called, the tone that i assigned worked like a charm. Fast Forward to a few days ago (whenever .607 was officially released), i was re-adding my contacts (thank god i still have my old LG Dare), and putting in the custom tones for the specific people like i had before (the ringtones are saved on my 16gig memory card) and i noticed that when one of them called, the tone works as it should. However, when i get a SMS from them, it plays the default SMS tone (which is also custom). The same thing happens with MMS messages as well. Any ideas as to why the default tone plays instead of the custom one i specified? (I tried taking out the "-" in the phone #, since when i enter them in my contacts, i enter the number like so: (XXX)XXX-XXXX) but when i do that, the SMS shows up in my BBM chats with the BBM alert (was a suggestion i found while Googling the issue).

I have tried changing the ring tone by going to Contacts, selecting the contact, and changing the ringtone listed under Custom Ring Tones/Alerts for the contact. My Sound and Alert Profile is set to normal. I have also tried going to Sound and Alert Profile and clicking on Change Sounds and Alerts. From there I have selected Sounds for Contacts and tried to Add Contact Alert. After doing this my phone still rings with the ring tone for the Normal Profile. How can I ensure that the ringtone for the custom alert comes up for these contacts?

Nov 24, 2011Love the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!

Apr 5, 2012Ok, so when I am in the compose message view I start typing a name to send a message to and the phone shows me all numbers for that contact, even if I deleted that number... for example say my contact Lewis upgrades and gets a new number, I edit his contact, deleting the old number and replacing it with the new. Then when I type LEW into the compose message "to" section it shows all numbers ever stored under that name, if you know what I mean..? So i am typing someones name getting multiple numbers even if they only have 1 number to there name.This also seems to be the case if someone registers a number to FB and I overwrite that number with a new number

Sep 12, 2011I spent ages yesterday individually connecting each phone contact to their fb account and then today all of a sudden they all just dissapeared again! I don't want every fb 'friend' to appear in my phonebook, so how on earth do I do this so that it's not going to delete them all each day. I have this same problem with both of them.When I go into Email and try to pull up the list of my contacts I can only see about 7 of my 50 contacts. The screen will not scroll to display all the contacts.It first was not working on my wife's phone. I checked it on my phone and it was working when I first tried it but it stopped working as I was testing the scrolling function. Now neither phone will scroll so you can see all your contacts.

Aug 31, 2012When i got my Galaxy S2, i had no problems adding photos to people in my contact list, but just recently, every time i search for that contact to add a new photo or update it, regardless of whether the contact already has a photo or not, it comes up with "Contact not found"??
These are the steps i am using (in case there is another way):
* Open photo from Gallery
* Touch Phone Menu (Comes up with Share Via, Set as and More along bottom)
* "Set as"
* Choose Contact photo
* Type name into "Find contacts"
* Immediately comes up with "Not found"
