I got a used samsung 5 phone from tmobile because my original one broke. After a few hours, the phone became very slow and sometimes unresponsive. I tried to do a reset but then a warning came up, saying how the phone is a custom os and resetting it might cause damages to the phone. Is there another way to solve the lag on my phone or do I still proceed with the reset?

It happened while I was driving for 2hrs on a highway, with the phone resting on the empty passenger seat, not touching the phone. Lost all data, all apps, all pics. Very frustrating. After 3 days of research (visiting Verizon store, calling Verizon, calling Samsung, internet research), the possible cause may the following:
About 2-3 hours before driving, the phone did a scheduled automatic update, which took more than 30 min to complete. This all happened in a signal-weak area. Tech support said, although the update completed, it may have had some flaws, and when the phone detects that, it may resort to a factory data reset to avoid greater functionality problems.
Unfortunately, the end result included functionality problems, most notably that the phone calendar only synched partially (!!) with my desktop Outlook calendar, and promptly I missed two important appointments.
When a scheduled update comes your way, make sure you backup all contacts, photos, data etc, before allowing an update to perform.
anyone knows how to do custom sms tones for contacts? i swear i saw it before for the droid system.

HTC Sense UI has an option to preview messages(2lines) and missed calls right(who and time) on lock screen. This is really handy option with small kids around you dont have to unlock your phone.Since S2 is missing that I've downloaded Notify App which works great.However - I cannot turn off stock notifications - they still show up - so at this time I have to clear notifications twice - once in App and once in Notifications Bar. Is there a way of turning off stock notifications (without custom ROM)? On all other phones i had - there was an option to go to Settings Privacy and uncheck the notifications. This is missing on S2 - all i can see under privacy is Reset to Factory.I really like the phone and how smooth it is. At this point i really dont want to do a custom ROM (`ill root it if need it)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem on my G920T that's been bugging me for a while. After flashing a custom ROM, my EFS was messed up. I had backed it up prior to any custom ROMs. All works well n the phone except whenever it's rebooted it fails to register to T-Mobile's network.
So I have to bring up the dialer, type in *#2263# and choose Band Selection, then LTE, then LTE All (which is already asterisked) and tap it again. Only then will it register on the network and then works fine. I've tried everything under the sun including restoring EFS backup, flashing back to stock, etc., to no avail.
Any script that automatically runs the above process after reboot. I don't know enough to do so, and I'm not sure one exists.

I want to install a custom recovery like xtrestolite, how can I root, use a custom recovery, and get the dual sim to work plus fingerprint etc?
I have set my S5 Mini with all the sounds I want, different sounds for different things.
However when it comes to the Clock > Alarm, something I use on a regular basis (old timers is setting in), even though in "Notifications" I have set it to the sound I want, the Clock > Alarm just refuses to play ball, it always defaults back to Samsung's sound.
It is such a quiet sound, I have on occasion missed an appointment, I normally remember to set the sound I want the phone to play, but on the odd occasion I have forgotten, hence the missed appointments.
I have searched the phone for these sounds, hooked the phone up to my PC, and done a search just on the phone for those pesky Samsung sounds. Both way's it cannot find the sound I so desperately want to be rid of.
All of my other Ringtones and Notifications work as I have set them, bar Clock > Alarm.
How I can find them, and delete them?
My jig has just arrived and I would like to know how to reset my counter to zero.

I am having no luck in diagnosing a problem with my bluetooth(won't turn on) , Samsung has suggested doing a Hard re set ,in hopes of fixing the problem. I would like to back up ALL of my data , contacts , apps , texts , etc. , but have no idea on how to go about it. I did a search here and became even more confused ! I was told by Samsung to do a drain the battery, recharge to 100% and then to a factory reset. I followed these instructions, but now I get the following message on my screen: "Unfortunately, twlauncher has stopped"I can no longer use the phone or reinstall my data from KIES (Kies does not even recognize that my phone is connected). I have tried to reboot in Safe Mode and do a factory reset, wipe cache, and reboot from there, but i still get the same error message about the stopped twlauncher. my phone is unlocked (International European version GT-i9100) and was rooted using SU-Busybox and Recovery Clockwork Touch.

Several days ago his started restarting on its own any time the screen was turned off (either manually turned off by tapping the "power" button or when the screen timed out) but no other time. It was doing this for a couple of days. I contacted tech support and they suggested a factory reset, which I did. It came back online with no trouble, and he was able to log in to his accounts, make calls, send texts, etc. It didn't restart on its own at all for the couple of hours we had it with us that night. During those couple of hours it was plugged in to charge. We went to bed and the next morning it was completely dead. No response to any buttons, doesn't acknowledge when it's plugged in, nothing. We tried swapping batteries and SIM cards with my phone, and still nothing.

I've tried removing the battery and entering *2767*3855#, but it just say "unsupported character" when I hit the # key. I even tried *2767*2878# and it says the same thing, "unsupported character".
How can I get into this phone? To make matters worse, the calibration on the touch screen is so off that it's virtually unusable in the portrait position.
I have been trying to unlock it for use in Italy, but I can't get past the initial setup which is asking for my original Samsung login ID, which I obviously don't have. In addition, I can't flash the rom with Odin or install off of external SD card, because I cannot root it.

I'd correct a word and if it said "would you like to add 'es' to the dictionary" (or whatever I had typed in) I just said yes. Now it keeps putting in these non-words and I can't get rid of them. I've seen the threads where people point out where the dictionary is found in other O/S's but not this one. I've also seen people post that you just highlight the word and you'll have the option of deleting it from the dictionary, no so on my phone..

Provider is Rogers and I know that this in itself will create problems, but I was able to find a work-around for my cell (same provider, different phone). Any help would be greatly appreciated. One more thing, does one have to have a memory card in the phone to add custom ringtones?
