Sep 11, 2015I can't seem unlock my device using fingerprint or backup password. The fingerprint animation isn't playing and doesn't recognise that I am swiping the home button.I have tried entering the backup password and it says I have entered it incorrectly when I am for certain entered it correctly.Changing keyboards doesn't fix this. Restarting the phone and removing the battery and SD card does not fix this.
I have previously registered for the Google Device Manager and have tried locking my phone, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need to have an Internet connection or GPS on my phone to do that? If so, I can't connect to the internet or activate GPS due to it being locked. Is there any way around this?
I really don't want to factory reset my phone unless it's the only last option I have.And I have contacted Samsung support regarding this and am waiting for a reply. I will update if they have replied to my message.

Mar 31, 2012I visited the Apple Store in Glasgow and was advised to restore my Iphone 3G to resolve Safari issues. I did this with no problem, but I am now being asked to "Enter the password to unlock your iPhone backup". Trouble is that I don't know which password is required. My wife gave me the phone when she got an iPhone 4S. The AppleStore password for software is the original one used by my wife. For more recent software, the AppleStore password is my own AppleStore password. I also need a password when installing software for my MacMini. The phone also has a 4 digit user lock number. Which password do I use to unlock iPhone backup?

Jul 3, 2012I've just requested an unlock from my carrier (Vodafone UK) and for my number to be ported out. After both had happened I tried to follow Apple's support instructions, which told me to: backup the phone using iTunes; erase all content and settings; and restore from backup.
The restore fails subtly. It looks like the phone has unlocked -- with my new SIM it picks up the new carrier (T-Mobile UK). However, it seems to be stuck in a cycle that last about 7 seconds. The main slide-to-unlock screen appears, but is unresponsive. A few seconds later it flips to a black screen with the time-is-passing clock dial icon. This happens repeatedly. I'm using: iTunes 10.6.3.25 which has upgraded the iPhone to iOS 5.1.1
I can use iTunes to convert it to effectively a new phone that works fine, without any backed up content, using a factory restore.
- Is this a known problem with a known solution? I can't find anything matching the symptoms on the web.
- Is it worth booking in a visit to the Genius Bar?
Failing that, I have a backup with the content I want, I can open the files and see e.g. all the message history. Is there a reliable way of partially restoring the phone's content (say all contacts and message history) rather than a blunt iTunes restore-from-backup?

Jul 1, 2014Last night I did a manual backup of my iPhone 4S to my computer (Windows 7). I proceeded to restore my phone, and then restore from backup, only to be prompted with a message that asked me for a password. I do not remember ever giving a password, so I made several guesses. I tried the password for the admin account on my computer, email passwords, Apple ID password...but did not succeed. I would also like to note that "Encrypt iPhone backup" is NOT checked on iTunes, and I did not just un-check it.Â
Is there a way of recovering my data from my backup? I would really like my notes, messages, and contacts back.
