Galaxy S6 :: How To Reset A Phone Backup Password Without Resetting
Nov 11, 2015
I got a new phone and set fingerprint password. It didn't really work so I got rid of it and just used a PIN. Now that I got my scanner fixed I want to use it again but it needs the backup password which I don't have. I tried scanning my finger and it didn't work. It will not let me scan again and is asking for the backup password for it to be able to open. I am not locked out of my phone rather I just need the backup password to change some settings. I would like to know if there is a way to reset the backup password without resetting my phone and keep in mind I am not locked out and still have full access just not the backup password?

I have tried android device manager also the samsung one and cannot seem to find it. I do not want to reset my phone and am rooted.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to reset my backup password on my S6. I can still unlock my phone just fine using my 2 registered fingerprints. But in the event I have both fingers chopped off for whatever reason, I'll be out of luck.
I set it to finger print unlock and within 45 seconds of setting the lock I tried to reopen my phone and it didn't recognize my fingerprint. No big deal, that's why we have the secondary password right? Nope. It said incorrect password every. Single. Time. Which it can't POSSIBLY be incorrect because me being the small brained blonde that I am only use 3 possible passwords at any given time as it is!!!!
So I got onto the device manager and for the first few days was not able to lock it because it was already locked....so I left it for a few days. NOW I am currently on the device manager and the option to lock the phone WILL let me set a new lock on the phone....so I tried it. I go to punch in the password on the screen of my phone and it still says it is incorrect. I have now tried this at least 5 times using the most simple passwords and it still says it is incorrect.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, and for my unlock screen I use a pin. However, for some applications, I use a fingerprint unlock as well as a pin.
Recently, the scanner was unable to read my fingerprint so my phone disabled the fingerprint unlock option and came up with the notification "Enter backup password to verify fingerprint." I thought I remembered the right password, but apparently not, so I am unable to change or update my fingerprint at all.
From what I've read, a lot of people have problems on the lock screen, but my lock screen is fine since I use a pin, I just can't remember my backup password for my fingerprint. I've already tried Samsung's Find My Mobile, and I would really like to avoid doing a factory reset.
how I either reset my backup password or somehow change my fingerprint?
Okay so my dad wants to get into the security option in his phone to add a fingerprint, however to do so required the backup password.
Knowing my dad, he had forgotten the password and cannot get in here, the only suggestion we have found is reset your phone which obviously is a bit last resort.
I have found some suggestions I. e. sign in your Google account however that did not work nor did a suggestion which was to go in private mode and from there it will prompt the fingerprint and make that default.
I have a few problems with my galaxy 5s and I want to reset the factory settings but I want to back up my app data first. Is there a way to do this? I know I can just reinstall each app but I want to save the app data first, if it is possible.
I always use my fingerprint as a password but for some reason that option has dissapeared and the only thing on the screen is the option to put it a password or emergency call. I don't remember my password and can't get in, i've tried restarting my phone, turning it on and off, and taking the battery out but its still like this.
I was using samsung browser and I scanned fingerprint to autofill username and password for a website. and I failed the fingerprint scan too many times. And it wants me to enter my backup password. I don't remember what it is. The phone is not locked. I use different security - pin, pattern, etc. But I cannot access fingerprint section. Is there any way to get passed that or reset the backup password?
My wife turned her Galaxy S5 on yesterday, slid her finger across the scanner to open the phone and it came up with the print not recognised message (as it has many times before). This time however, it did not allow her to scan her print again. the screen changed and asked her for a back up password, not a problem as she has done this a fair few times too, it just seemed strange that it only allowed one stroke of the scanner before asking for this. We have tried her back up password many times (and any other password we could think of) but the phone will not unlock, nor will it return to the normal lock screen and allow her to try her print again.
We have logged onto Android device manager and tried the lock screen hack (to obtain another password) but it just tells us that the screen is already locked so another password is not necessary.
I would like to know how to reset the password that appears on my computer screen when I try to synchronize, run back ups etc. The password that I recorded when I installed the software does not work. The blackberry keyboard password doesn't work either. I set up a Blackberry ID and that doesn't assist at all. I cant find an explanation of all the different passwords.
Model: Blackberry Bold, OS version v.6.0.0.600 Phone company Bell Canada
What's the difference between Settings->Accounts->Google which sync all sorts of data, including "app data", and between Settings->Backup and Reset->Google Account, which also says that it backs up app data?
Already tried remote access online but that doesn't work because my phone isn't connected to wifi or MD tried putting wrong password in for a reset option that hasn't happened and i cant for the life of me remember my backup password.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 from Verizon, currently running Android v4.4.4. Due to battery life that's gone down to about 7 hours from an initial average of about 11, I decided it was time to reset my phone to see if that might work (though I've taken to the less nuclear option of allowing Google to restore my apps and app data from Google's backup).
Before the reset, I'd had almost every app that could be moved to the SD card moved to the SD card.
The reset did not affect the SD card. Now, I'd like to move all my apps that can be so moved, moved onto the SD card again. My question is, since the reset did not affect my SD card (I'd even removed it for one of the two resets that I've done since last night), is there app stuff from my previous installation on my SD card, stuff that I should be able to delete now to make space for my new set of apps that I want to move to the card?If so, how do I clear out that old app stuff?
I assume that I need to...If I had Audible installed on the card before, and I now have Audible in my phone's internal storage, if I move it to the card, is there any chance that it'll recognize the previous installation, re-associate itself with it, and thus save me the time of downloading previously downloaded audiobooks?
