BlackBerry :: 8520 Stolen - Possible To Disable Device?
Nov 15, 2012
I had a Blackberry Curve 8520 that was stolen yesterday. My service provider told me that they will only be able to shut down the line, nothing else. Is there a way to disable the phone? It would be nice if I could make sure no one can even turn it on, or at least make sure it can no longer be used on any service provider.
My mobile phone has been stolen yesterday. I heard that I can destroy the important info, data and personal pics. Also the thief can't use it. I have the original box and all the numbers including the serial and bb one.
How do I disable my stolen 3gs? I had "find my iphone" app, but it could not locate the phone bc the SIM card was likely immediatley removed by the thief.
I currently have the BB 8520 with 4.6 software, I've been doing to get the O.S 5 update following the 'Upgrade Guide'. I've tried deleting the vendor.xml file but still not luck it still keeps on saying it doesn't have "BlackBerry Device Software". I've tried to following things.
1. Searching my entire computer for another vendor.xml file
2. Re-installing both the upgrade and Desktop Manager
Still no luck, can anybody try and help me out? I've done some searching on the forum and found nothing.
how I can block my BB 8520 phone. It was stolen and the IMEI is <removed>. Maybe you can also help me retrieve some of the informations i have stored in my phone.
EDIT: Personal Information such as IMEI is prohibited for your security. Please review User Guidelines under section "Be careful."
how can i get my blackberry curve 8520 totally shut down as my phone was stolen. my service provider shut the sim card down i got it replaced, the phone is shut down by the service provider but not totally as the theives can get it unlocked.
I recently had my Bold 9900 stolen/lost, although I have now purchased a replacement 9900 I want to try and track down my old one as it is not a cheap device. I still have all of the packaging of my first phone so therefore the IMEI / PIN etc. I have reported this to my provider (China Mobile) and I have a new account setup on my new device.I have sent a bbm request to my old phone hoping to get some contact but my joy, I am asking friends who have my old PIN as a bbm contact to try the new 'owner' as well. Is there any way I can find the mobile number of whoever is using my old phone so I can ring them? (I understand it may have been sold on but has only been 3 days since it was stolen/lost) or tracking the device? (I did not have any tracking software on the device at the time it was stolen).
I have lost my iPhone and was searching the internet on how to find it. I can track my phone and lodge a complaint in the police station but for tracking it I need an imei number. I looked in the devices panel and found out that I didn't have a backup of it. So is there any way of retrieving my IMEI number via iCloud backup?
I have a Torch 9860, and just completed another backup using BlackBerry Protect. This is not my first backup, FYI.And the strange this is every time I login to protect.blackberry.com, my device is not shown.
I recently purchased a Bold 9930 and I think it is great. However, I would like to disable some notification icons from showing up on the home screen (BBM in particular).
I am one of those whose enterprise email options have crashed in open state (so I can't change any settings) and IT can't reinstall my OS (the only fix) before I leave for holiday. If I disable data services In my mobile network options will that prevent emails from being forwarded to my BB from the enterprise server?
About the upcoming devices all featuring touchscreens, how about adding touchscreen enable/disable option ?For example, my company operates gas stations so I work with liquid hydrocarbons (gas, biodiesel, motor oil) and most of the time during the day I use the trackpad for phone calls and work apps like DocsToGo or BBM instead of a touchscreen because of its functionality and well, it won't become a mess if my hands are a little dirty, just like the touchscreen would. But during the night, hanging out with my friends or family, when sharing videos and photos, I'd love it if my BB 9700 running OS6 had a touchscreen (that's why I'd buy a Bold with a touchscreen), so I could have better media playing and internet browsing experience. Also, I've heard smartphone processors render faster when they are not handling touchscreens, so disabling it could give a merely functional experience while working (which is what most working people love about BlackBerry devices) and would save some battery life as well. Still, you could get the full social and media experience(which is what RIM is aiming at too with the upcoming devices) anytime by enabling it again.
add an option on BB messenger to disable or enable receiving Broadcast messages . in my country even my father and grandfather send Broadcast messages without any reason?
I am using a BB Curve 8520, black.I had initially set the alarm for all weekdays. But now I don't want the alarm anymore. The only option I have in this BB in the clock tab is Weekdays ON / OFF [blue in color in the centre of the clock].I do not have any third option of OFF, irrespective of weekdays/weekends.But it still rings sometimes though being OFF for the weekdays & the alarm time in red still shows & the tiny alarm/clock icon even shows on the desktop.
I've done options of keeping the alarm silent & all that. But it does vibrate sometimes. Sometimes the icon disappears & it comes back automatically. How do I DISABLE this alarm?? Just off it types, like we do in other phones!
I have just taken delivery of my new 8520. I bought it for its Internet, and more so, WI-FI capabilities. However I am due to go on holiday and due to the cost of getting data in a foreign country would like to totally disable the GPRS data, as not to incur a huge bill. I would however like to still be able to access internet, Via WI-Fi, when in a free wifi hotspot or something running off wifi (hotel internet at 1 euro a hour etc)
I have tried this at home on my home router with what I think is GPRS off, wifi enabled, and it informs me I need GPRS on to access WIFI. Being a coms engineer, I can’t understand in anyway shape or form how one is dependant on the other, being they are totally different protocols.
I have a 8530 Blackberry Curve that the firewall security is enabled and locked. I can wipe my Blackberry using JL Commander and get it to go away, but once plug it back into my Blackberry Internet Desktop Software, it locks it again. I have removed the blackberry desktop 3 times now and reinstalled it and still the same problem.I even went as far as doing a regedit and removed all blackberry information in that. I am stumped on this one. All I can figure is there is something in my desktop computer that is putting the security back on. Again, this is a personal blackberry being used on a personal computer.
I am having a problem downloading at blackberry site due to content protection. It says that I should first disable the content protection so that I could download from the site.

I got a BlackBerry Curve 8520 at work and for some reason my BIS is not working, it says not connected and I cannot manage to fix it. The below is what I did so far.
1. Verified with my carrier (MTEL.BG) that I have all necessary data serivices enabled.
2. Restarted the handheld a couple of times (battery pull and waited 30 secs).
3. Resed to factory settings.
Tried to register my device using Host Routing Tables (the table is empty) but nothinh happen.
Called Tech support and they attempted to register my devide without success. They said that probably my handheld have a defect and to replace it.
