BB Curve :: Disable Content Protection To Allow Downloading On 8520?
Apr 27, 2012
I am having a problem downloading at blackberry site due to content protection. It says that I should first disable the content protection so that I could download from the site.
I have followed the steps to disable the content protection. But, I still cannot download any apps from the web to the phone. I get the same ol' message that I have to disable the content protection!
I am trying to download an app using b/berry desktop, it comes up with system error turn off content protection and re try, I have been to options - security and encryption is disabled.
I am trying to synchronize my blackbery with app world but everytime I go to step two. As we know the first one is to get the Blackberry browser plug-in, the second one is to Connect your smartphone and the last one is to update your software. The problem I have is with connecting my smartphone. I sellect my pin, click on Connect and a couple of seconds after that, I get this message:"An error has occurred communicating with the BlackBerry App World Web plugin. restart your device and try again. If you have content protection enabled on your device, disable and try again."Nowhere on my security settings I find Content protection or Content Lock.
I'm a new and proud owner of a BlackBerry Curve 8900.I bought this used from a guy and I didn't realize this before til now. This phone is "permanently" password protected, meaning that I need to insert my password every single time I unlock my phone. I tried going to "Password" and disabling this option but there is a red lock beside the option and it won't let me choose Disable, only Enable. I went to TMobile and asked them but they said it's programed into the phone and told me to go back to the guy that sold me this.
I don't keep in contact with the guy who sold me this anymore. Is there ANY WAY to disable this?
I'm seeing a strange issue with all of our Verizon 9650's (Bold) that are members of our BES. A user receives an SMS message while the device is locked. The user then unlocks the device and <content protection is enabled> is displayed instead of the actual text of the SMS message. If the user closes the SMS and then relaunches it the message is displayed properly. Has anyone else seen this issue? Sounds almost like a software bug...

I've had the phone for about a week and I absolutely love it except that at seemingly random moments my phone will block the viewing of any and all of my SMS messages saying "Content protection is enabled". It will show up at the beginning of newly received messages and even in the middle of real-time conversations between someone else and I and then I have to wait for the message to "go away" so I can read what the response was and continue the conversation. Is it something I'm doing? A default phone feature? Is anyone else experiencing this issue or at least know how to solve it?
When I try to download an app on my BB Bold 9900 via "https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/product/1/?lang=en" do I get the errorApp World Web Plugin Error An error has occurred communication with the BlackBerry App World Client. If you have content protection enabled on device, disable and try again. The content protection is disabled. Also enabling follow by disabling does not work.
I was exploring my new Pearl 3G 9105 and has enabled my password protection. I have a difficult situation when trying to disable the password as it is a red lock icon next to the option. It's been locked. How could it happen? Is there a way to unlock it so I can make the change?
So I just got my Blackberry yesterday and while I was tweaking around and setting my passwords, I enabled Secure Content and it said that it will start Memory Cleaning and that it'll take a few minutes. I waited for it to finish but then it just died down on me. It went off and then whenever I'd try to turn it on, a solid red light goes on and then it goes to the white screen with the clock-loading icon thing for 5 minutes then turns off then does it again or just remains off. I tried pulling out the battery then turning it on, charging it for 3 hours straight, the 101 on Reinstalling the OS on a Bricked Berry and it still forever loops on its boot up. I don't know what happened or why it did that and to think that it was barely a day old when it happened. Any suggestions on what to do besides taking it to my carrier?
Just been trying to clear up my memory for my curve and bold (options > status > database sizes) and was wondering where I can find the data for content store as its taking up about 500kb.

Have just acquired a Blackberry, and am a little lost. I hoped to be able to download from [URL] as with my previous - far simpler - mobile. The instructions on that site indicate that Blackberry Curve isn't supported. Would a microSD media card
My blackberry 8520 has been working for a long time now and I have downloaded an app called kik. Ever since I downloaded it my phone is not working. My signal is still coming through but I cannot receive anything. I press any button and still nothing works, it just comes up with the front page! I've been told to do a reset without taking my battery out and I've tried doing that and taking the battery out and nothing has happened. I've even tried looking for a reset button as I've been told there is one but I cannot even find that!
Using Windows 8 and Blackberry Curve 8520 connected to PC by USB cable..After downloading Desk Top Software to the PC the Desk Top Software Screen continues to show "Disconnected" at bottom right hand corner. The Help screen Support Resources states no Blackberry Device Software installed on your computer. Have tried software update with same result.

An error has occurred while downloading software for your device. Please verify your internet connection or try again later, if the problem persists. My internet connection is fine, both of my internet connections (phone, laptop).
i have downloaded a theme from blackberry app onto my curve 8520, done everything it has told me to and rebooted when requested... but now my phone is locked and can not get into it... have taken to battery out to see if there is any change but there isn't and now i don't know what to do.
I am using a BB Curve 8520, black.I had initially set the alarm for all weekdays. But now I don't want the alarm anymore. The only option I have in this BB in the clock tab is Weekdays ON / OFF [blue in color in the centre of the clock].I do not have any third option of OFF, irrespective of weekdays/weekends.But it still rings sometimes though being OFF for the weekdays & the alarm time in red still shows & the tiny alarm/clock icon even shows on the desktop.
I've done options of keeping the alarm silent & all that. But it does vibrate sometimes. Sometimes the icon disappears & it comes back automatically. How do I DISABLE this alarm?? Just off it types, like we do in other phones!
