I recently purchased a Bold 9930 and I think it is great. However, I would like to disable some notification icons from showing up on the home screen (BBM in particular).
View 4 RepliesJust switching over to Android/HTC One after using an iPhone since the day it was released. There are some icons showing up at the very top of my bar that aren't obvious and from what I can tell this is the 'notifications bar'. Things such as e-mail are obvious, but there are other ones I can't exactly distinguish. Is there a goto reference chart so I know what these notifications are? And is there a quick way to access these notifications so they take me to the respective app so the notification is removed?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 blackberry curve 8520 phones. Usually when there are new notifications on facebook or when I have a new email it is displayed on top of the home screen. On the one phone, I have a notification for facebook which I have already checked out, but the notification won't go away. On the other phone, there is an icon that looks a lot like the "earth" on the email icon. I have searched all over this phone - email messages, BBM messages and updates etc.

It's driving me insane not knowing what they're.Tried to get the picture in here, but don't have a clue how. The first icon resembles a tape casette player icon and displayed in white. The second one shows a smaller version of the tape casette player icon in black with three little dots on top of it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a strange issue on my BlackBerry 9700 Bold, which I got on Orange UK. For some reason my E-mail and SMS Notifications are stacking under the same icon. So for example if I have 3 e-mails and 1 text it shows 4 as the e-mail Notification icon. I have friends on Vodafone who get two separate icons. So far I've tried the following: I've tried updating the firmware to the latest sticky at the top of this forum. Making sure Display New message indicator under General Options is set to yes Battery pull. I still get a red star over the SMS icon in the menu, but just no notification. In my themes menu I have Precision Zen and Precision Orange. Both have the same issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a blackberry curve 3g with version 5 OS, I have 3 icons stuck - 1 text message, 1 blackberry app world, 1 facebook.
I have tried a battery pull, and searching for unread text messages, there are none, there are also no updates for any apps, or any facebook notifications - I have reset my fb notifications from the fb app and nothing has changed.
They have been stuck there for over a week and it is beginning to irritate me.
With Glance on my 950 Im only getting the time and date - I can't get the notification icons to show. I have them all set (email, calls, messaging) and have enabled them to show, but they don't.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLast night my phone started notifying me of SMS messages by a new pop up at the bottom of my screen. I use Hangouts and couldn't find anything in the settings in there so I switched over the the standard android messaging. I turned off all notifications and the pop up still was coming every time I received a message. This almost appears like is a system notification, since it is the same style as other pop ups. (ie: "copied to clipboard" when you take a screenshot) I have attempted to attach a screen shot of the notification. Hopefully it worked. How to disable this notification? Nothing has worked yet.

Is there a way to disable the phone? It would be nice if I could make sure no one can even turn it on, or at least make sure it can no longer be used on any service provider.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout the upcoming devices all featuring touchscreens, how about adding touchscreen enable/disable option ?For example, my company operates gas stations so I work with liquid hydrocarbons (gas, biodiesel, motor oil) and most of the time during the day I use the trackpad for phone calls and work apps like DocsToGo or BBM instead of a touchscreen because of its functionality and well, it won't become a mess if my hands are a little dirty, just like the touchscreen would. But during the night, hanging out with my friends or family, when sharing videos and photos, I'd love it if my BB 9700 running OS6 had a touchscreen (that's why I'd buy a Bold with a touchscreen), so I could have better media playing and internet browsing experience.Also, I've heard smartphone processors render faster when they are not handling touchscreens, so disabling it could give a merely functional experience while working (which is what most working people love about BlackBerry devices) and would save some battery life as well. Still, you could get the full social and media experience(which is what RIM is aiming at too with the upcoming devices) anytime by enabling it again.

Something changed recently and now I only get grey notification icons for the email accounts. I'm not sure what changed though.

I was just using the Bionic to check email when bang, everything disapeared. o email screen, no phone icon or other bottom row and now notifications.All I had was 3 or 4 icons per screen and I could look at the screens double tapping the home and getting the big view. But most apps were missing from the home pages though and none would start. I finally realized that I was seeing a zoomed image of the home page scroller screens.I tried everything to get to the apps drawer but couldn't. I wanted to snap a screengrabber.I had to shut it down, restart and phone is back to normal.The image I'm attaching is mocked up from a capture I made with no background. Wish I could have captured it for real.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis seems to be an issue with lollipop, as the G3 and the Samsungs have it too. My phone will sometimes (not every time) beep when it has reached 100% battery. This happens in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping, so it wakes me up.
I have my phone setup so that it will not disturb me. No notifications unless its from a friend. But will sound any clock alarms I have setup. Any way to turn off the battery charge notification?
Some people in other forums state that using the included charger fixes this. It does not. I tried it and it still beeps. It is also not consistent, as some nights it will not beep. Turning down the volume all the way down is also not an option, as I need the clock alarm.
Why on earth does my phone have to tell me practically every time I bring it out of sleep that I'm low on memory transfer SD. I know I know!, I have nearly 2gig of space left on my internal memory, I could understand it if was only 200mb, if I can't fill up that last two gig without getting such harrasmemt from my phone then why even state that the phone has 16gig internal ram if use 2gig of it?

I need it to display the number of unread emails on the icon (I think the little circled number is called a badge?), but do NOT want my phone making a notification sound every time an email comes in. This is really annoying in the middle of the night, especially when it's from spam emails.
When I go into the email app, and choose <menu> --> Settings --> <email account name> --> Notifications --> Notification Sound, a list of folders at /storage/emulated/0 appears instead of a list of tone sounds and a None option. I don't know what to do at this point to disable the notification sound.
So far, I haven't found a way to disable Sim 2 from the notification bar or text. I'd love to disable it completely so it acts like a single sim phone.

On the GS3, certain icons would show "event counters" or whatever they're called in the top right corner. The email icon would show me how many unread emails I had. The Text Messaging app would show me how many unread texts i had. Facebook would show me how many unread notifications I had, etc etc... They were all the same, a number in a little orange bubble in the top right corner of each respective icon.

It's up-to-date up until this update and I'm the kind of person where I feel "if it aint broke don't fix it". I rather hate design changes especially. Anyhow, in the past the only way I knew for disabling the update was to root the phone and use an app to disable the AT&T update app. Are there any other non-root options?
This is the one thing I wish they'd follow from the iPhone. Create an update notification area in settings and let it stay there. I don't need a nag screen every few phone unlocks. At least it's not as bad as when I had a Droid 2. With that thing literally I'd be prompted each and every screen unlock. Think I'm only getting it once or twice a day with my S5.
How to disable a service update notification? Using an S5 on T-mobile lollipop 5.0. I dont want to switch as I have no issues. I keep getting the notifications for updates that i do not want.
