View 5 RepliesMy BB Tour 9630 is showing 1 message unread. However I can't find the message. Also next to the number 1 is an icon I don't recognize. It looks like two small 0's connected by a line. Does anyone know how to clear?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI work for a Verizon premium retailer (aka indirect store). So of course we don't have all the resources/equipment that a corp store does, but we still try to solve issues to the best of our ability unlike many indirects.
I had a guy come in yesterday with what I believe to be a bricked Tour...basically was stuck on the white screen that said it needed to be taken "for repair." After some quick research here I concluded it was probably due to the 5.0 problems people have been having and I had a new one shipped out to him next day under warranty.
The problem is he aparently has tons of contacts, and of course like many people didn't use DM to do backups. Is there any way that those contacts could be accessed? We do have the same machine a corp store uses but I'm thinking that's not going to pull them...I didn't know if there was a way to restore a earlier OS with DM and keep the contacts. I'm guessing no, but figured I'd check the best source!
So I was using VZ Navigator for a little road trip this weekend, and as I was using it I noticed my Tour getting very hot. I checked the temp and Meterberry said it was 114 degrees! So I turned off VZ Navigator but a few minutes later my phone restarted itself and now the only screen I can see is a white one saying: "Technical Issues Please Return to Place of Purchase for Repair". Took it to VZW and they told me I need to get one overnighted to me and there was nothing they could do. Oh and I tried Desktop Manager and it wont recognize my bb no matter what I did (even the version without media manager). So now I play the waiting game without my BB. Has anyone else run into this problem with their tour overheating?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bricked my 9630 and I am thinking of upgrading to 5.0. My carrier has not supplied me with a 5.0 yet, so I was thinking of using the Verizon 9630 5.0 version. My question is if I am not successful loading the 5.0, is it easy to reinstall my 4.7 from my carrier or will I run into a problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've used various Palm pilots for many years and recently replaced the Palm with a BB Tour. I'd hoped there was desktop software similar to the Palm Desktop where you can view & modify calendar & contact info directly instead of having to use the BB for all data entry, but I don't see this feature in Desktop Manager. Am I missing something? It's a pity if this isn't available, it makes the BB a much less attractive option for me.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter I installed the new operating system I lost a feature. Both my husband and I have the Tour. For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.

I assume Mailbox means my desktop computer at home which is a Mac, but when I select Mailbox and Handheld for delete, it only deletes from Handheld and NOT from Mailbox. How can I program my 'berry to delete remotely from my desktop?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMaybe this is in the VZW Tour 5.0 software thread or something, but after completing the software upgrade, when I receive emails through my Gmail account and decide to delete an email, I am no longer getting the option to delete from the mailbox, the device, or both, although the option is set uo from this particular email account. I'm not having any problems with the Yahoo email account. I've removed the email and readded it on the phone as well as on the Blackberry Internet Server website.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been ttrying mightily but unsuccessfully to add my contacts from my BB to my desktop PC.I use Microsoft office on my desktop PC. The email address for that is different that my BB address. I don't think that should make a difference as I only want my contacts to be available in the address book there.I tried doing it thru desktop manager and it it seems to have transferred a small percentage of them but by no means all of them.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, so it is a bit ironic that I am posting this question, as I have been helping others here on CB with BT/USB tethering for quite some time now. However, it looks as if the tables have turned!
Like many have reported over the past few months, Sprint has finally turned off the "back-door" free tethering connection that has been working for many years via BT and USB for many, many people. Over the years, I have activated and deactivated the "phone as modem" add-on several times, usually only when needed. Just last week, I called into CS and had them flip the switch ON.
My Tour was already setup for BT modem, and connected just fine, and since I turned it on, I have used the service many times. HOWEVER - just the other day, I tried to connect and my Tour's screen flashed white, and said "Connecting to desktop". I could not exit out of this screen, and also could not connect to the phone via BT to use as a modem. The blue BT light was flickering, and the computer was trying to connect for about 30 seconds, before failing - and once failed, the white screen went away, and the home screen reappeared.
I have NEVER seen this screen before - not even when connecting the phone via USB to the DM in either Windows or Mac. I am not sure what has happened since last week. I have not installed a new OS, nor have I changed any settings on the phone or in DM. Very odd!
I would appreciate any help or insight into this matter. I have already tried pairing the phone with the computer again - but still every time I go to connect via BT, the phone is now displaying the "Connecting to desktop" message with a white background. So weird! I am using Snow Leopard with a hybrid OS. Neither one of these factors should be the root of any issue - as I said earlier, just last week things were working fine - and I have made NO changes whatsoever since.
Only new apps downloaded since have been Bold, Opera, and QuickPull - however, I cannot imagine any of these apps to be interfering with tethering. I have tried battery pulls, and reconfiguring bluetooth settings - all to no avail.
Ive searched and havent really found a good answer to my problem, but when i connect my blackberry through the USB port, my computer and DM are not finding that its connected. Ive tried re-installing DM, re-starting my computer, re-booting my phone and none of these have worked. Is there something else that I am missing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust got this BB from Verizon, everything works fine but when I plug it into my PC the Desktop Manager software is a mess. I'm running Win XP. I've double checked all the USB connections, uninstalled and reinstalled the the BB software and taken the BB battery out and put it back, so it's none of those things. I brought the BB back to Verizon they said "it's working fine, must be a driver or something, duh".
When I plug in the BB and bring up Desktop Manager sometimes the BB is recognized sometimes not. When I try to use the Roxio Media Manager it comes halfway up but the hourglass cursor never goes away and it just sits there thinking for hours. Sometimes I get a pop up saying " First Time Configuration...., it won't let hit any of the choices, I just have the hourglass thinking. I always have to hit Ctl, Alt, Del and call up my task manager to quite the program because the hourglass never turns back into the cursor. I just want to manage my media. This is very frustrating.
I recently updated my sprint 9630 to v. 5.0.0.1030 (bundle 1675, platform 4.2.0.451). My desktop manager no longer recognizes the phone when I plug it in. My laptop rcognizes that the phone is plugged and it is charging the phone as well, but the software doesn't work. It keeps telling me that it is disconnected. When I run update for the desktop software it says I have the latest version installed. It still shows that my device software version is 5.0.0.983. I have turned off my firewall temporarily, rebooted the laptop, did a battery pull on the phone and nothing works. It still does not recognize the phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Blackberry 8330 curve that was purchased in October 2008.I loaded the Desktop Manager software from the disk that came with the phone. For a long while I was able to synche my calendar on the phone along with tasks, addresses,etc to outlook. Occasionally after finishing an error box would come up the Blackberry had detected an error and did I want to report it. I closed out the box since I was done working. About a week ago I was no longer able to synch and this error box would come up immediately. I have tried removing the software and downloading the version 5.0 software, hard re-setting the phone (which almost worked). I have updated to Internet Explorer 8 but this problem occured earlier as well.Last night I was able to back-up the device and set synchronization settings after the hard reset of the phone but now I cannot do anything. Desktop Manager opens fine, connects to my blackberry fine but as soon as I hit "Synch" it pops up the error message and whether I hit debug, don't send a report or send a report it closes me out completely.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Blackberry Desktop software to switch data from old Tour to new Tour and realized mid-way through the switch that I don't have the latest Desktop software installed. The device switch feature "Task in Process 'is going on 3 hours at this point and I'm afraid to stop it and restart it given the warning that the device may become unusable if you disconnect. Should I just disconnect it anyway? Download the latest software and try again? I don't think it should be taking 3 hours to complete this switch!

Delete On: Prompt
Wireless Reconcile: On
On Conflicts: Mailbox Wins
Any help would be really appreciated. I know other people have reported this problem w. different OS's on different phones.
Just did a battery pull with OS 5.0.0.419 and for the first time since the upgrade there was no email about registering with the network after the unit booted up!! Maybe it stops after a while.

View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen I followed the directions from the CB guides on using AppLoader to upgrade OS, but this time around, it does NOT seem to be cooperating. I got a replacement Tour today and I proceeded to hook it up and use apploader to upgrade the OS, but it keeps giving me the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer." I installed both the 419 mobility and 484 sprint files (separate events obviously with the deleted vendor XML) and both of the installations gave me this message during the AppLoader process. I'm using Windows XP on VMWare on my Macbook to do this, and it's not working out.
