I bricked my 9630 and I am thinking of upgrading to 5.0. My carrier has not supplied me with a 5.0 yet, so I was thinking of using the Verizon 9630 5.0 version. My question is if I am not successful loading the 5.0, is it easy to reinstall my 4.7 from my carrier or will I run into a problem?
View 5 RepliesI work for a Verizon premium retailer (aka indirect store). So of course we don't have all the resources/equipment that a corp store does, but we still try to solve issues to the best of our ability unlike many indirects.
I had a guy come in yesterday with what I believe to be a bricked Tour...basically was stuck on the white screen that said it needed to be taken "for repair." After some quick research here I concluded it was probably due to the 5.0 problems people have been having and I had a new one shipped out to him next day under warranty.
The problem is he aparently has tons of contacts, and of course like many people didn't use DM to do backups. Is there any way that those contacts could be accessed? We do have the same machine a corp store uses but I'm thinking that's not going to pull them...I didn't know if there was a way to restore a earlier OS with DM and keep the contacts. I'm guessing no, but figured I'd check the best source!
So I was using VZ Navigator for a little road trip this weekend, and as I was using it I noticed my Tour getting very hot. I checked the temp and Meterberry said it was 114 degrees! So I turned off VZ Navigator but a few minutes later my phone restarted itself and now the only screen I can see is a white one saying: "Technical Issues Please Return to Place of Purchase for Repair". Took it to VZW and they told me I need to get one overnighted to me and there was nothing they could do. Oh and I tried Desktop Manager and it wont recognize my bb no matter what I did (even the version without media manager). So now I play the waiting game without my BB. Has anyone else run into this problem with their tour overheating?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMaybe this is in the VZW Tour 5.0 software thread or something, but after completing the software upgrade, when I receive emails through my Gmail account and decide to delete an email, I am no longer getting the option to delete from the mailbox, the device, or both, although the option is set uo from this particular email account. I'm not having any problems with the Yahoo email account. I've removed the email and readded it on the phone as well as on the Blackberry Internet Server website.

I only have two things installed - Imagining theme (751 kb) and the Spectrum theme (1.2 mb). I'm pretty sure that those aren't taking up 173 mb themselves.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm considering getting the Tour 9630. I have been researching this phone a lot all over the internet. I heard that the memory on this phone is not all that to brag about. I also heard that you can not save applications on memory cards or something like that. (Please clarify that for me if I misunderstood). My question is I have been wondering if the applications take up a bunch of memory. This will be my first blackberry and I am not sure on how much memory applications roughly take up.
I know there are probably random number figures out there, but apparently everyone thinks this phone is overall a great phone even without saving the applications to your phones memory. Excluding that is that the only thing you can not save to memory on it? Just a little FYI I'm new here so please bare with me as I get adjusted to this site. I looked around and didn't find anything regarding this. If you need anymore information or me to be more clear please let me know so you can assist me as much as possible.
I've noticed that no matter how many times I try to close facebook it stays open and seems to slow my Tour down to a crawl. Constantly getting the spinning clock now. I've tried reinstalling facebook but that didn't help. Facebook isn't worth not having my Tour work but at that the same time why am I paying for a device that won't run apps without issues? It's really strange because nothing has changed and yet all of a sudden this issue has popped up. I also tried a battery pull but that seemed to make the problem worse, not better. After the battery pull I got the clock for about 10 minutes and the device was slow for a while after that

View 5 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to use an app that requires the internet, one of two messages constantly pop up, sometimes even both. I have the application permissions set to allow. One message is, "The application slacker_radio has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy." I can only click 'ok' after that. The other message is, "The application (any one of them) has requested a http connection to (whichever site it uses)" Then is has choices: 'Do not ask for http' and 'Do not ask for http to (whichever site it uses)' The second choice is checked by default. I've tried checking both and either box singely. Again, all the application permissions are set to allow for these apps. I've tried Slacker, Poynt, Scoremobile, Weatherbug, and . I didnt bother trying any other app.

It also does not let me check the box to detect it automatically. The Blackberry Desktop Manager recognizes the BB and its pin but the app loader wizard does not.

Sent an e-mail from my BB to myself and haven't gotten it yet, although my BB says it sent. I've tried alt-caps-del reboot and battery pull. Same problem. Internet browser works fine. Can you replace a tour trackball with a curve one? I heard somewhere that it was possible. I changed the housing in my Tour to make it white but the trackball doesn't sit right and i have a problem scrolling down. I can't seem to get the trackball to sit properely in this housing its just not centered. If i can put a curve trackball in, which model curve do i use?

I won't receive emails on it for quite a while, but once I open my Internet browser, all of the emails I received since the last time I opened it will come through at once. If I check my messages, they're all listed as coming through at the same time, but inside the email, they're datestamped at the actual time they were sent.
Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't changed any settings recently, the problem started independent of anything else, from what I can tell. It seems like a problem with my phone not checking for new emails until it uses data services (internet browser).
Is this possible if so how?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've researched my problem on other posts, and still not completely sure if my problem is unique or not.I have an unlocked Sprint 9630 I grabbed from our IT department before a trip to Turkey. It was supposedly deactivated - turns out it is still active on a Sprint number.
I've replaced the Sprint SIM with an Avea Turkish prepaid SIM that has data and Blackberry capability. It works fine for phone and text, but no ability to register the email with Avea Blackberry. Tech support there unable to determine the problem (unable to connect to server is the error message, both with phone and online).If I can deactive the Sprint number will that help? Or am I just out of luck.
I have an issue with my BB Tour.When I woke up this mourning and took my bb off the charger.I notice there were HLhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhl type on my bb so I tried to press the esc button and the end button and it didn't work. So I did a Battery pull and let it load up...and that when i found out that my trackball wasn't working.then all a sudden it started to type the HLlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhlh again.So I did a another battery pull and it did it again.So I wiped the phone decided to install 5.0 on my phone and I get the same thing.The only thing I did before my phone went hay wire was a couple days prior.I downloaded a couple free themes and screen saver from BB App World.I thought by doing the battery pull and wipe I would fix it but didn't. I know I didn't get my phone wet or anything can anybody explain this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is my third Tour (I just got this one a week ago) and with it sitting in my pocket where I have service, not running ANY applications, it is running hot and draining battery very quickly. Did a battery pull, double checked memory leaks, and nothing is taking care of it. It's draining at about 15% per hour. Any thoughts (other than Tours suck.)
