BB Tour 9630 :: Trouble Synching Contacts Into New
Apr 8, 2010I just got a Blackberry Tour 9630 through Verizon. I have been attempting to transfer all of my (200+) contacts to my new phone using Verizon's 'Backup Assistant'. I dowloaded the Blackberry Desktop Manager and through the Verizon Backup Assistant instructions have managed to get to the point where my contacts are in a csv file, but here is where the problem begins - my laptop is just a few months old, and the OS is Windows 7. Outlook and Outlook Express, which is what I used to have, is no longer in existence in Windows 7 from what I understand, it is now Windows Live Mail. I have set that up and it is working fine - I have my ISP e-mail set up in it and was able to import my phone contacts in to there, but the backup instructions for importing the csv file so that I can synch them are only given for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express. The Blackberry Desktop Messenger does not seem to recognize Windows Live Mail either, just Outlook. I have looked all over the internet trying to find a solution to this, if there even is one. I hope so because the thought of having to enter 200 contacts with all of their info. by hand is not a good one!
Hopefully one of you smart people out there understands what I am talking about and can tell me if there is a solution to this (keeping my fingers crossed!).

May 9, 2010I saw last week on Crackberry that some users were seeing their read messages sync properly from gmail onto their BB. Have any Verizon Tour users seen this? Since last week messages I send from the web gmail interface appear on my BB but when I view a message online it doesn't show as read on my BB. Has anyone with Verizon and the Tour gotten this to work properly?

Feb 10, 2010First off just wanted to say hi, just bought my first ever blackberry (tour) a couple days ago and love it. My wife got one for work and I fell in love with it and needed to get one. She has the Curve 8530??? (not sure on model the second one.) Anyway I was wondering if there was anyway to set my read text message how the curve display them. With blue and white bars, and it groups them all to the same person instead of by most recent. I would to go to my messages and just have them group all by person with the ongoing conversation like the cure, does where as my tour just puts last sent/received at top. Any ideas?

I check my emails on a daily on a basis on the computer, but the icon still shows them as unread on my BlackBerry, which in turn leaves the yellow envelope/red asterisk on my home screen. I'm sure others have had this question before, but I did a few searches on CB and google to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

May 18, 2010I'm just wondering why my application memory is so low. When I go to App World and then My World and look at the memory bar, it says I only have 83 MB free. I only have two things installed - Imagining theme (751 kb) and the Spectrum theme (1.2 mb). I'm pretty sure that those aren't taking up 173 mb themselves.

Feb 25, 2010I'm considering getting the Tour 9630. I have been researching this phone a lot all over the internet. I heard that the memory on this phone is not all that to brag about. I also heard that you can not save applications on memory cards or something like that. (Please clarify that for me if I misunderstood). My question is I have been wondering if the applications take up a bunch of memory. This will be my first blackberry and I am not sure on how much memory applications roughly take up.
I know there are probably random number figures out there, but apparently everyone thinks this phone is overall a great phone even without saving the applications to your phones memory. Excluding that is that the only thing you can not save to memory on it? Just a little FYI I'm new here so please bare with me as I get adjusted to this site. I looked around and didn't find anything regarding this. If you need anymore information or me to be more clear please let me know so you can assist me as much as possible.
BB Tour 9630 :: Device Won't Run Application
Feb 2, 2010I've noticed that no matter how many times I try to close facebook it stays open and seems to slow my Tour down to a crawl. Constantly getting the spinning clock now. I've tried reinstalling facebook but that didn't help. Facebook isn't worth not having my Tour work but at that the same time why am I paying for a device that won't run apps without issues? It's really strange because nothing has changed and yet all of a sudden this issue has popped up. I also tried a battery pull but that seemed to make the problem worse, not better. After the battery pull I got the clock for about 10 minutes and the device was slow for a while after that

Sep 2, 2010I have BB Tour that is a corporate cell phone and is set up using Microsoft Exchange to receive my corporate e-mails. We use MS Outlook as our mail program.I was just playing around in Outlook trying to figure out how to attach my business card to the end of e-mails I send and soon realized I was looking at all of my personal cell numbers of friends, family etc. in Outlook on my corporate lap top ! Yikes ! I don't want my mom, ex wife, current GF's etc. contact info on my corporate laptop.Is there a way to get my Tour and/or Outlook to stop syncing my phone contacts to my my computer?

Aug 6, 2010I've entered a pre-paid SIM card and can't read the phone book on my TOUR, i dont even have the option to retract them from the card to the phone when i go to the menu. Jan 22, 2010Every time I try to use an app that requires the internet, one of two messages constantly pop up, sometimes even both. I have the application permissions set to allow. One message is, "The application slacker_radio has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy." I can only click 'ok' after that. The other message is, "The application (any one of them) has requested a http connection to (whichever site it uses)" Then is has choices: 'Do not ask for http' and 'Do not ask for http to (whichever site it uses)' The second choice is checked by default. I've tried checking both and either box singely. Again, all the application permissions are set to allow for these apps. I've tried Slacker, Poynt, Scoremobile, Weatherbug, and . I didnt bother trying any other app.

May 27, 2010Haven't been receiving e-mails most of today. Went to e-mail settings to check on what was up and received the above message. Sent an e-mail from my BB to myself and haven't gotten it yet, although my BB says it sent. I've tried alt-caps-del reboot and battery pull. Same problem. Internet browser works fine. BB Tour 9630 :: Tour Contacts Deleted Themselves
Jun 12, 2010I woke up this morning to find my entire contact list deleted from the Contacts application, however when I open an email or an SMS, all of the contact information is there for that particular person. When I look at the call log, the information is also there.I have a backup done on Friday (yesterday) on Outlook at my office (not on work server since they all use IPhones for that. I prefer my blackberry so I use the non-server syncing)...is there another way to get this information back or do I need to wait to resync on Monday?
I had a lot of apps on there that I don't use, so I deleted the off this morning to help get some memory back. I haven't yet done a battery pull on my phone...will doing one affect anything or should I just do it to help clear the memory up and make room for contacts?
