I am trying to upgrade to 5.0 os and I downloaded the .419 from MTS and I downloaded the .419 and its recognizing old os such as 4.7 os, why isn't it recoginizing my 5.0 .419 os? It wont let me put on the new os it doesnt recognize it in the app loader.
View 14 RepliesI have been trying for a VERY long time to download an operating system. Every time the Application Loader Wizard does not detect the blackberry. It also does not let me check the box to detect it automatically. The Blackberry Desktop Manager recognizes the BB and its pin but the app loader wizard does not.

View 9 Replies View RelatedJust got this BB from Verizon, everything works fine but when I plug it into my PC the Desktop Manager software is a mess. I'm running Win XP. I've double checked all the USB connections, uninstalled and reinstalled the the BB software and taken the BB battery out and put it back, so it's none of those things. I brought the BB back to Verizon they said "it's working fine, must be a driver or something, duh".
When I plug in the BB and bring up Desktop Manager sometimes the BB is recognized sometimes not. When I try to use the Roxio Media Manager it comes halfway up but the hourglass cursor never goes away and it just sits there thinking for hours. Sometimes I get a pop up saying " First Time Configuration...., it won't let hit any of the choices, I just have the hourglass thinking. I always have to hit Ctl, Alt, Del and call up my task manager to quite the program because the hourglass never turns back into the cursor. I just want to manage my media. This is very frustrating.
I'm just wondering why my application memory is so low. When I go to App World and then My World and look at the memory bar, it says I only have 83 MB free. I only have two things installed - Imagining theme (751 kb) and the Spectrum theme (1.2 mb). I'm pretty sure that those aren't taking up 173 mb themselves.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm considering getting the Tour 9630. I have been researching this phone a lot all over the internet. I heard that the memory on this phone is not all that to brag about. I also heard that you can not save applications on memory cards or something like that. (Please clarify that for me if I misunderstood). My question is I have been wondering if the applications take up a bunch of memory. This will be my first blackberry and I am not sure on how much memory applications roughly take up.
I know there are probably random number figures out there, but apparently everyone thinks this phone is overall a great phone even without saving the applications to your phones memory. Excluding that is that the only thing you can not save to memory on it? Just a little FYI I'm new here so please bare with me as I get adjusted to this site. I looked around and didn't find anything regarding this. If you need anymore information or me to be more clear please let me know so you can assist me as much as possible.
I've noticed that no matter how many times I try to close facebook it stays open and seems to slow my Tour down to a crawl. Constantly getting the spinning clock now. I've tried reinstalling facebook but that didn't help. Facebook isn't worth not having my Tour work but at that the same time why am I paying for a device that won't run apps without issues? It's really strange because nothing has changed and yet all of a sudden this issue has popped up. I also tried a battery pull but that seemed to make the problem worse, not better. After the battery pull I got the clock for about 10 minutes and the device was slow for a while after that
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to use an app that requires the internet, one of two messages constantly pop up, sometimes even both. I have the application permissions set to allow. One message is, "The application slacker_radio has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy." I can only click 'ok' after that. The other message is, "The application (any one of them) has requested a http connection to (whichever site it uses)" Then is has choices: 'Do not ask for http' and 'Do not ask for http to (whichever site it uses)' The second choice is checked by default. I've tried checking both and either box singely. Again, all the application permissions are set to allow for these apps. I've tried Slacker, Poynt, Scoremobile, Weatherbug, and . I didnt bother trying any other app.

When I try to remove this Facebook tells me I have to do it from the phone. I no longer have this phone and do not even have a BlackBerry any longer and have no way of doing this. Under my Friends Page where my phonebook is the BlackBerry application is there. The only answers Facebook gives me are that it has to be deleted from the phone itself but again I can not do that

Sent an e-mail from my BB to myself and haven't gotten it yet, although my BB says it sent. I've tried alt-caps-del reboot and battery pull. Same problem. Internet browser works fine. I haven't installed or deleted any apps or anything.

I changed the housing in my Tour to make it white but the trackball doesn't sit right and i have a problem scrolling down. View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade my OS through DM. I went to click upgrade after connecting my 9700, and it pops up "application uploader needs to be upgraded." I tried installing it as it advised, 5 times already and it still pops up the same message. I tried uninstalling and installing DM again with the latest version but it is still happening. My computer is Win7 64bit Sony.
So last week or so, my phone took a bit of a swim. I did the usual, put it in rice and let it dry out. Then I turned it on to find it continously rebooting itself. Seeing as how I had no idea what was happening, I brought it to a shop to get it fixed. A week later I got it back and basically it was doing the same thing, only at the end of the reboot cycle the white screen would come up, then repeat. I googled this and saw that my blackberry was "nuked." There was an issue though; my phone had been totally wiped of handheld software. So I redownloaded it, then followed the steps to repairing it. But it would always stop at the second step saying "application loader was unable to connect to the device" when reconnecting to the jvc. Is there anything I can do or is my phone totally done?

when i plug my blackberry torch on the computer, the DM recognize it but when i go in the application section it starts loading (verifying all the stuff)but then the application loader appears to crash an i get message saying "Handheld Application Loader Wizard has stopped working" and i really dont know what to do.

Your BlackBerry Application Loader needs to be updated before your can continue. Do you want to update now? [Yes / No]
When I click YES, the Desktop Managers starts to download the Application Loader update. Then I am instructed to close the Desktop Manager so the setup can continue. After the setup is complete, the Desktop Manager starts on its own again and directly tries to open Application Loader. And OOPPS !! it tells you again that it needs to be updated !!! I kept doing that for over 5 times! and I am still getting this wierd messages !
Here are some usefully details:
Device: BlackBerry 9700
OS: OS 5
Desktop Manager: 5.0.1
Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate
what this message means?. I cannot update my software. Nor can i find a resolution.

I've got a clean (wiped to factory reset) BB8800, with a first time installation of BB Desktop Manager on a new PC. The BBDM is 5.0.1.16. Everything is uncluttered with previous detritus.
However, when I connect the BB to the Desktop Manager, it asks me to update the Application Loader. I follow the instructions:
OK to upgrade
Disconnect BB
Click OK to close BBDM
Closes Desktop Manager,
Downloads 16Mb file
Goes to MS Installer
Verifies the files
Installs the files
It reopens the Desktop Manager
Then lo and behold, it asks me to UPDATE THE APPLICATION LOADER!!!
I'm on Application Loader 5.0.1.52. Is there any chance of downloading the newer Application Loader directly because everytime I go through the loop, it's downloading the installer files, and I can't find it in the cache.

My computer keeps saying "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please reconnect your device, enter the password, if required, and click retry." when I try to update the phone. The issue before was that the phone kept shutting off and would get stuck on the display loading bar everytime. I went to the AT&T store in town and they told me I needed to update it. I tried that and now it won't even turn on. The red light flashes a few times and then it stops and gives me the above message. What should I do?
