BB Tour 9630 :: Missing Feature / Edit Folder On Tour Desktop
Feb 10, 2010After I installed the new operating system I lost a feature. Both my husband and I have the Tour. For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.

Mar 27, 2010I've used various Palm pilots for many years and recently replaced the Palm with a BB Tour. I'd hoped there was desktop software similar to the Palm Desktop where you can view & modify calendar & contact info directly instead of having to use the BB for all data entry, but I don't see this feature in Desktop Manager. Am I missing something? It's a pity if this isn't available, it makes the BB a much less attractive option for me.

Jul 31, 2010I have V1.6.0.22 for FB for Blackberry and need to use that on my Tour, because I am on T-Mobile and the newest FB for Blackberry does not work.I am out of town and do not have the cable to usb cable to use desktop manager.Is there another way to get this app (which is in the form of a .rar file) to my Blackberry and installed?If need be, I can wait until Monday when I get back home to my usb to Blackberry, but thought there might be another way to get this app installed. Mar 27, 2010I have been ttrying mightily but unsuccessfully to add my contacts from my BB to my desktop PC.I use Microsoft office on my desktop PC. The email address for that is different that my BB address. I don't think that should make a difference as I only want my contacts to be available in the address book there.I tried doing it thru desktop manager and it it seems to have transferred a small percentage of them but by no means all of them.

When I view the certificate it looks like the phone is trying to contact google.com.
BB Tour 9630 :: How To Access PTT?
Mar 31, 2010I just upgraded to the new official VZW 5 OS, and the only evidence I see of PTT is in the options... there is a "PTT Options" menu. I can set it to enabled, but I don't see any apps to use it, and I can't set it as a convenience key. Do I need to add PTT to my account or something?

Jan 21, 2010I am having a huge issues with my e-mail/internet and text messaging capabilities with my tour plus the phone constantly shuts off. I am on my 3rd tour (2nd replacement phone). This issue started about 4-6 weeks ago w/my first tour, it was replaced then the second one started randomly shutting off, then I am now on tour #3 and am having major issues:I'm not able to get a signal to receive phone calls, text messages or e-mails and today while I was at work (same spot for the last 6 months -- haven't moved and never had an internet/signal problem before) when I got out of work I had 18 e-mails, 16 text messages, 2 missed calls and my battery was practically drained and dying (which by the way under mobile connections and mobile network if I put it on 1VEX it can never find a signal or is always searching for a signal whereas if I put it as Global it can find a signal).I got this phone because I'm an avid overseas traveler and I need a phone w/me when I leave however this is causing a lot of frustration and annoyance.I've done everything to all devices:hard pull, complete hard drive wipe, updated service books, turned mobile networks on and off, made sure I had the most up-to-date software available NOTHING works.any suggestions?

Jan 30, 2010Okay, so it is a bit ironic that I am posting this question, as I have been helping others here on CB with BT/USB tethering for quite some time now. However, it looks as if the tables have turned!
Like many have reported over the past few months, Sprint has finally turned off the "back-door" free tethering connection that has been working for many years via BT and USB for many, many people. Over the years, I have activated and deactivated the "phone as modem" add-on several times, usually only when needed. Just last week, I called into CS and had them flip the switch ON.
My Tour was already setup for BT modem, and connected just fine, and since I turned it on, I have used the service many times. HOWEVER - just the other day, I tried to connect and my Tour's screen flashed white, and said "Connecting to desktop". I could not exit out of this screen, and also could not connect to the phone via BT to use as a modem. The blue BT light was flickering, and the computer was trying to connect for about 30 seconds, before failing - and once failed, the white screen went away, and the home screen reappeared.
I have NEVER seen this screen before - not even when connecting the phone via USB to the DM in either Windows or Mac. I am not sure what has happened since last week. I have not installed a new OS, nor have I changed any settings on the phone or in DM. Very odd!
I would appreciate any help or insight into this matter. I have already tried pairing the phone with the computer again - but still every time I go to connect via BT, the phone is now displaying the "Connecting to desktop" message with a white background. So weird! I am using Snow Leopard with a hybrid OS. Neither one of these factors should be the root of any issue - as I said earlier, just last week things were working fine - and I have made NO changes whatsoever since.
Only new apps downloaded since have been Bold, Opera, and QuickPull - however, I cannot imagine any of these apps to be interfering with tethering. I have tried battery pulls, and reconfiguring bluetooth settings - all to no avail.
BB Tour 9630 :: Error Connecting To Desktop Manager?
Jun 20, 2010Ive searched and havent really found a good answer to my problem, but when i connect my blackberry through the USB port, my computer and DM are not finding that its connected. Ive tried re-installing DM, re-starting my computer, re-booting my phone and none of these have worked. Is there something else that I am missing?

May 4, 2010Just got this BB from Verizon, everything works fine but when I plug it into my PC the Desktop Manager software is a mess. I'm running Win XP. I've double checked all the USB connections, uninstalled and reinstalled the the BB software and taken the BB battery out and put it back, so it's none of those things. I brought the BB back to Verizon they said "it's working fine, must be a driver or something, duh".
When I plug in the BB and bring up Desktop Manager sometimes the BB is recognized sometimes not. When I try to use the Roxio Media Manager it comes halfway up but the hourglass cursor never goes away and it just sits there thinking for hours. Sometimes I get a pop up saying " First Time Configuration...., it won't let hit any of the choices, I just have the hourglass thinking. I always have to hit Ctl, Alt, Del and call up my task manager to quite the program because the hourglass never turns back into the cursor. I just want to manage my media. This is very frustrating.
BB Tour :: Desktop Software No Longer Recognizes 9630?
Dec 30, 2010I recently updated my sprint 9630 to v. 5.0.0.1030 (bundle 1675, platform 4.2.0.451). My desktop manager no longer recognizes the phone when I plug it in. My laptop rcognizes that the phone is plugged and it is charging the phone as well, but the software doesn't work. It keeps telling me that it is disconnected. When I run update for the desktop software it says I have the latest version installed. It still shows that my device software version is 5.0.0.983. I have turned off my firewall temporarily, rebooted the laptop, did a battery pull on the phone and nothing works. It still does not recognize the phone.

Aug 28, 2010I am using Blackberry Desktop software to switch data from old Tour to new Tour and realized mid-way through the switch that I don't have the latest Desktop software installed. The device switch feature "Task in Process 'is going on 3 hours at this point and I'm afraid to stop it and restart it given the warning that the device may become unusable if you disconnect. Should I just disconnect it anyway? Download the latest software and try again? I don't think it should be taking 3 hours to complete this switch!

Feb 12, 2010I've developed a problem with my 9630 (carrier: Sprint) recently. I won't receive emails on it for quite a while, but once I open my Internet browser, all of the emails I received since the last time I opened it will come through at once. If I check my messages, they're all listed as coming through at the same time, but inside the email, they're datestamped at the actual time they were sent.
Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't changed any settings recently, the problem started independent of anything else, from what I can tell. It seems like a problem with my phone not checking for new emails until it uses data services (internet browser).

Dec 24, 2011i got a blackberry tour passed down to me and after doing the security wipe i wasnt able to access the internet,bbm,facebook. i have gone to my network provider and they couldnt fix it. the host routing table is empty and when i register it it say the message has being sent and still nothing happens.

Mar 21, 2010What app is the best way to browse the internet on blackberry? Surfing the web is horrible on my Tour. I love everything about my blackberry except surfing the net. I play with my wife's iphone and the internet is night and day. I know that the internet will never be as good as the iphone, but it would be nice to surf websites a little better on the blackberry. Is there a great internet app? Regular blackberry internet app is not that great. Some would say if I want to surf the web then get an iphone, but I am addicted to my blackberry. Love the superfast email, and BBM. Does anyone really use their blackberry for surfing the internet?

Feb 26, 2010I have not found in a search where this is covered, so here goes While plugged into my USB port my Tour defaults to the Ringer_ClassicPhone Ringtone. It sounds horrible. But while plugged into the USB, it can not access my ringtones on the mediacard, where all of my defaults for SMS, Phone, and Email are located. So, the question, is there a way to import external, i.e. .wav's or .mp3's on a media card, to the Tours onboard memory so that the device can access them even plugged in. Yea - I know - how long can a phone be plugged in and is this really an issue. Yes - it is - to me. On a busy day at work, I will often plug my phone into the USB at my PC to charge it some, especially if it is getting into the 50% range, and it is not noon yet.

May 30, 2010I've researched my problem on other posts, and still not completely sure if my problem is unique or not.I have an unlocked Sprint 9630 I grabbed from our IT department before a trip to Turkey. It was supposedly deactivated - turns out it is still active on a Sprint number.
I've replaced the Sprint SIM with an Avea Turkish prepaid SIM that has data and Blackberry capability. It works fine for phone and text, but no ability to register the email with Avea Blackberry. Tech support there unable to determine the problem (unable to connect to server is the error message, both with phone and online).If I can deactive the Sprint number will that help? Or am I just out of luck.
BB Tour 9630 :: Internet Application - Message
Jan 22, 2010Every time I try to use an app that requires the internet, one of two messages constantly pop up, sometimes even both. I have the application permissions set to allow. One message is, "The application slacker_radio has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy." I can only click 'ok' after that. The other message is, "The application (any one of them) has requested a http connection to (whichever site it uses)" Then is has choices: 'Do not ask for http' and 'Do not ask for http to (whichever site it uses)' The second choice is checked by default. I've tried checking both and either box singely. Again, all the application permissions are set to allow for these apps. I've tried Slacker, Poynt, Scoremobile, Weatherbug, and . I didnt bother trying any other app.

They put in a sim card and everything worked perfect: browser, emails, etc. On October 20 I quit receiving emails and could no longer access internet.

There isnt even a browser icon on the phone. How do I set up the network? Verizon doesnt let you have a bb unless you pay for a data plan, it would be pointless to have it without internet working!
