Recently purchased an unlocked verizon bb 9630 tour. I have connected it to my verizon account and I have a data plan, but i cannot connect to the internet. There isnt even a browser icon on the phone. How do I set up the network? Verizon doesnt let you have a bb unless you pay for a data plan, it would be pointless to have it without internet working!

However, whenever I open the browser I would get this error: "Your decivce does not currently have any Browser Configration Service Book entries, Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on your device".What does this mean, and how can I fix it?
I had a Blackberry Tour 9630 (sprint) that got stolen while in Slovenia. I ordered a replacement from sprint (same Tour 9630) and they neglected to tell me that the phone must be activated before it was sent out to me. So, I receive the phone and the SIM card and spend about 3 hours on the phone with Sprint customer service trying to get BIS services to work. Voice services work just fine but BIS services don't work at all. I confirm that BIS is activated on my phone and international roaming is active, check on both.So after hours on the phone they come to the conclusion that the phone needed to be activated in the US before it was shipped out to me. I then go another route, knowing that my phone is unlocked, {SIM, network, network subnet, service provider, and corporate} all say "disabled", and try to use my Slovenian SIM card (SI MOBIL) with BIS services activated and still only voice. I even try the Slovenian SIM card in a colleague's blackberry and it works just fine.

They put in a sim card and everything worked perfect: browser, emails, etc. On October 20 I quit receiving emails and could no longer access internet.

I had a 9630 that was unlocked by Verizon in January 2010. I had it unlocked so I could use my SIM Card for Vodacom in South Africa which had a blackberry contract, inclusive of Data. I was in South Africa from January to Mid-September.The phone worked perfectly until May, upon which I had occasional cut-outs of BIS. By the end of May, I had suffered 2 weeks without internet. I filed many complaints with Vodacom, and the issue was even escalated to RIM. But I never had any progress. It worked for a day, sparatically. The issue continued until I left in Mid-September. Upon arriving back in the USA, my blackberry worked perfectly on my CDMA Verizon contract,but I am planning on returning to South Africa. I would like to know what this issue was, and how it can be fixed. Vodacom and Vodaworld (a Tech World for Vodacom) could not do much, as the phone was American and, though there are many people in South Africa with the same phone, all have suffered the same problem. We also upgraded to OS 5 and reverted to the previous OS 4 to try see if it would make a difference.As a side note, I was able to use WAP browsing, which I had to pay for, but the BIS didn't work, no matter how many HRT or battery pull restarts I attempted.

I've registered BIS in local provider (MTS Russia) and now I have following problem. BIS is working only after I switch of GPRS service on my sim-card (GSM). And once GPRS is enabled BIS is not working.
Is there any solution for this problem or this phone is unable to work in Russian network in a way when GPRS Internet and BIS exist simultaneousely.
I have a Unlocked Tour 9630 which I am now using with FIDO . Everything on the phone seems to work EXCEPT . CALLER ID , which is driving me nuts , not knowing whose call I missed.
80% of people calling the phone it will say "UNKNOWN CALLER" . There are only a few of my contacts that their name will appear when calling . The rest of my contacts, although I have their numbers saved in my phone will still appear as "UNKNOWN"
I've done everything from , changing around my Smart Dialing to include my area code and canada as the country code . Encryption is disabled on the phone.
The Phone was originally Set up with VERIZON .
Is this possible if so how?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having a huge issues with my e-mail/internet and text messaging capabilities with my tour plus the phone constantly shuts off. I am on my 3rd tour (2nd replacement phone). This issue started about 4-6 weeks ago w/my first tour, it was replaced then the second one started randomly shutting off, then I am now on tour #3 and am having major issues:I'm not able to get a signal to receive phone calls, text messages or e-mails and today while I was at work (same spot for the last 6 months -- haven't moved and never had an internet/signal problem before) when I got out of work I had 18 e-mails, 16 text messages, 2 missed calls and my battery was practically drained and dying (which by the way under mobile connections and mobile network if I put it on 1VEX it can never find a signal or is always searching for a signal whereas if I put it as Global it can find a signal).I got this phone because I'm an avid overseas traveler and I need a phone w/me when I leave however this is causing a lot of frustration and annoyance.I've done everything to all devices:hard pull, complete hard drive wipe, updated service books, turned mobile networks on and off, made sure I had the most up-to-date software available NOTHING works.any suggestions?

Everything works browser, txt, MMS, calls, even my weather app. Just every time I try to log into Facebook, it tells me "Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try again later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support".I came from a Tmo BB Curve so the service was already there. I re-registered on the BB network, resent the service books from the web and from my phone, did hard re-starts, went online to My Tmobile and updated the IMEI. I uninstalled the app from the phone, performed a hard reset, then reinstalled the app from the Blackberry App Store.

I play with my wife's iphone and the internet is night and day. I know that the internet will never be as good as the iphone, but it would be nice to surf websites a little better on the blackberry. Is there a great internet app? Regular blackberry internet app is not that great. Some would say if I want to surf the web then get an iphone, but I am addicted to my blackberry. Love the superfast email, and BBM. Does anyone really use their blackberry for surfing the internet?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi got a blackberry tour passed down to me and after doing the security wipe i wasnt able to access the internet,bbm,facebook. i have gone to my network provider and they couldnt fix it. the host routing table is empty and when i register it it say the message has being sent and still nothing happens.

One message is, "The application slacker_radio has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy." I can only click 'ok' after that. The other message is, "The application (any one of them) has requested a http connection to (whichever site it uses)" Then is has choices: 'Do not ask for http' and 'Do not ask for http to (whichever site it uses)' The second choice is checked by default. I've tried checking both and either box singely. Again, all the application permissions are set to allow for these apps. I've tried Slacker, Poynt, Scoremobile, Weatherbug, and . I didnt bother trying any other app.

I have no email and no internet connection.All my icons are there but will not connect to send. In the setup wizard it will not connect for email set up so I can not even send service books.

The phone is on Verizon network am able to activate my Blackberry Internet Services, but these however, do not work. I am unable to use the Internet or use Blackberry messanager.Vodacom says that they do not support this phone therefore dont have the settings. Is anyone able to assit me or give me advice of how to activate and have a fully functional Internet and Blackberry messenger services?
