I am new the blackberry and I have a Tour. I have tried to set up the notification settings such that the email is silent and the phone calls are on vibrate- is there a way to do that?

I check my emails on a daily on a basis on the computer, but the icon still shows them as unread on my BlackBerry, which in turn leaves the yellow envelope/red asterisk on my home screen. I'm sure others have had this question before, but I did a few searches on CB and google to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

I get the same error message each time - 'Your device had a problem connecting to the server'.I am running 4.7.1.61 on an unlocked Tour 9630, using a SIM card for a local provider.I have restarted the device and re-registered new service books.I have run a diagnostic test - it shows all connections to BlackBerry services - registration, connected to BlackBerry and PIN-PIN 'abort' yet I receive email on the existing account and can send PIN messages, etc.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI understand the steps to generate and auto signature - Go to email, click menu/options/email settings/auto signature ON, and type in your signature. However when I click on Email Settings there is no option for Auto Signature. The only options are:
Enable HTML email yes/no
Download Images Automatically yes/no
Confirm Delivery yes/no
Confirm Read yes/no
Send Read Receipts yes/no
There is no mention of auto signature.
I have my sound on "Loud (Active)" as I always do and then all of the sudden it stops making any sounds or chimes when I receive calls, emails, texts or facebook notifications.My calls and ect.are still coming thru, but just completely silent.I have to look at my screen to see I have a call coming thru and wait for the little red light at the top to see if I have any text messages and whatnot.Does anyone know why this could be happening?Now during the workday I will probably end up missing important phone calls and playing phone tag with people.Any help would be appreciated
View 7 Replies View RelatedOk so i bought a BB 9630 Tour couple days ago. and i have a question.so i set my girlfriend as a specific ringtone. but i usually use silent when i am at home, and one day she called me and guess what, the phone rang.so here is the question, how do you make the contact ring when it is in like when my normal is activated BUT NOT MY SILENT. cuz when i do silent and when she calls me and my phone rings... it doesnt really make sense cuz i put it as in silent.

So on my M8 the only option I can find is silent. But when I have that selected it doesn't vibrate when I get texts. How do I set it so that notifications only give a vibration?
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I upgraded my Defy to Froyo 2.2.2 (from the Moto website). Everything is great except my phone beeps everytime I get an email. I have gone into email settings and changed it to silent, but it still plays the ringtone. If I change the ringtone for email notification, it changes and plays the one I select, except if I change it to silent, it plays the "Bells" ringtone, which I think is the default. I have tried turning the phone off and on, but it still rings. I am using the stock email app with 2 pop accounts and a Yahoo account, and it plays the ringtone for all of them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set up the D4 to vibrate on receipt of e-mails and text messages only when the phone is in Silent Mode? As far as I can tell, the only choices are for the notifications to vibrate all of the time or not at all. Even with Vibrate set to "only when silent," e-mails still vibrate when the ringer is turned up. Basically, I'd like everything (phone, e-mail, texts) to vibrate when in silent/vibrate mode, and to not vibrate when the ringer's turned up. I could do this pretty easily on my old HTC Incredible, but it eludes me on the D4. If this isn't possible with the stock system, are there any recommended apps that would to the trick?

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I set my phone profile to "silent" or "vibrate" calls continue to audibly ring through normally. I went into my provider with my problem, and they're trying to tell me that its not possible for me to have custom ringtones set up and have the vibrate/silent work at the same time. According to them I either have to have my phone on vibrate all the time, remove all my custom tones, or just turn my phone off when I want it to be silent! My friend has the same phone and is on my family plan, and he has custom tones and his vibrate/silent still works as it should, so I know that its possible. All I want is to be able to have my phone not ring while in class or at the movies.

I like the phone to be quiet in certain environments and this is killing me. I have had droid razors before and never had this issue.

I'm sure this has been asked before so I apologize ahead of time, but I was wondering if there was a way to make your email "push" faster. Right now it takes me sometimes at least 10 minutes to receive an email after it's sent, I was wondering if there's a way to make your email push like every 2 minutes instead of every 10.
Also sometimes when I send an email with my blackberry, the person I send it to receives it as a message with all symbols and not the message I sent. Is this a known problem, or is something wrong with my blackberry?
My iPhone 4s will vibrate on all incoming calls and on notifications, however, there will be no ringtone or sound on notifications.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI got a replacement phone from insurance and then restored it - it came w. OS 5.0.0.732However, all the new email that i receive only let me "delete or cancel".I have the correct setting for the Email reconciliation:
Delete On: Prompt
Wireless Reconcile: On
On Conflicts: Mailbox Wins
Any help would be really appreciated. I know other people have reported this problem w. different OS's on different phones.
Just did a battery pull with OS 5.0.0.419 and for the first time since the upgrade there was no email about registering with the network after the unit booted up!! Maybe it stops after a while.

Between the process of it going down, i was no longer revieving emails on my phone, so I deleted the account in hopes to simply re-add it and be back in business.Now that I deleted it, im not able to re-add it. Go figure. Im putting my account and password in correctly, and usually it would just load onto my phone. Say I were to restore a prior backup when the email was working, will it be all set?What the heck am i missing this time?

If I open a message it will be there indefinitely, but if I don't open a message it only stays in the inbox for one to two hours, then just disappears.I come into work in the morning and there are 20 or so unopened emails in my POP3 account, but only one or two on my phone, and none older than an hour or so.
Been testing this and, like clock work, the emails are deleted even though I have not erased or even opened them in my outlook app or on the POP3 server.Has anyone else had this issue Verizon has had me do both soft and hard resets of the phone with no solution.Maybe I got a special "Tiger Woods Edition 9630"?
I'm on 4.7.x whatever so I open the email, click on the blackberry.com/update link, click on the link on that page, it launches desktop manager, which proceeds to tell me. Anyone else get an email from RIM this afternoon?

#1 when on my internet browser, it sometimes requires me to zoom in and sometimes click a link severel times before it will actually go to that link. I am wondering if its something to do with the new verizon update or if my phone is messed up?
#2 I cannot open any attachments in my email anymore. Any jpeg, pic, or pdf attachments pull up saying my phone does not support those attachments.
I can't seem to get rid of my email signature on my BES account. I previously had an 8830, and I could go into email settings and turn the sig on and off. I could change the wording, etc. It worked perfectly.
With my Tour, every time I send an email, I still have the signature that I created with the 8830. I can change the email setting labeled "Use Auto Signature" (don't remember what it was called on the 8830) to Yes or No, and it doesn't affect anything. If I select "Yes", and type in a new signature, it still uses the one I created on the 8830.
If its not one thing its another with this very sad sad device.Send option majically disappared from my menu ,any ideas how make it re-appear so I can send emails?

I have no email and no internet connection.All my icons are there but will not connect to send. In the setup wizard it will not connect for email set up so I can not even send service books.

Since then I have been unable to open email attachments. This is the error message I have been getting: More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found. I have also not been able to receive calendar requests.

Email itself is working fine and new mail showing up in the default 'Messages' folder, but I want to have my personal email folder back.
