my phone reccently took a swim. I did the normal trick of taking the batttery and etc out and placing it in a bowl of rice for a few days.I tried to start it up today and the screen came on and started to load for about 5 secs and then nothing.Can I get this repaired and were would you recomend?

This happened on June 21st, 2012After I realized it, my sister shouted 'Turn it off' which I tried. Bad idea. It was asleep, and in retrospect I should have left it that way.Here's how I recovered it:1) Placed it in a tupperware container, covered it in rice and closed the lid2) Left it for 24 hours.3) Put it on charger.At first, the home button would not work at all, but evertually came back after the first 24 hour 'rice bath'. The sleep button would not work at all, so I put it back in the rice for another 24 hours.4) Home and sleep buttons now work. The screen lights up, but looks awful - there are water stains all over the screen and texts are nearly impossible to read, except in really low light.At this point, bluetooth was broken, and the camera would not work at all.5) Figuring I had nothing to lose, and expecting that the heat from the phone would continue to dry it, I started to use it. After about a week, the water behind the screen magically disappeared. The camera and bluetooth were still completely busted. Now I attempted to power it off, but it just restarted instead of powering off completely.
The camera just started working again this morning. Bluetooth also works. The only thing that is still busted is powering off (push home and sleep buttons simultaneously). It will only restart if I push these buttons. Oh well, small price to pay for my stupidity
My iPhone is still in warranty, but as we all know water damage is excluded. I'm glad I saved myself $199 on a repair anyways. Hope this helps some other p-oor soul down the line.

i bought a BB 9520 storm and after a few months its gone dead. When i wanted to contact the supplier i finded out the the store is closed because of bankrupt. So, i wanted to get the device repaired by a certfified BB repaircenter here in Holland, but they said that they may not repair my BB because of the 'pr-code' and that i have to contact the supplier for futher info.As i mentioned, the supplier doesn't exist anymore ! How can i get this BB repaired by manufacturer warranty ? Device is a few months old.

took my shiny new n900 out of my pocket only to discover the lcd is cracked. I have spoken to vodafone who say it can be repaired under warranty free of charge. do you think this is correct ?.I was not sure if accidental damage is covered. Dont want to be landed with a big bill if they repair it outside of warranty. i was only sat in a chair when lcd cracked, not dropped or fell on, i thought it was a bit tougher that this.

The phone wil enter bedside mode and i get a message stating that the phone will not charge. I am able to charge the phone without the dock using the exact same cable. I cannot access the menu that includes: hide, move, open tray etc. I cleaned up the phone and uploaded the newest software via the BB desktop application software. I ended up cleaning it up so well it seemed to go back to factory settings as I lost all my apps. It seemed to solve the problem though and I got my menu button to work properly again. I have since uploaded App World and a new theme. The button still worked properly for 24 hours. Today, I turn it on and all is working well but the menu button loads my phone again. Do you understand that the menu does not load, but rather the 'phone' menu pops up as though I'd pressed the phone icon. I wonder if the 'flex ribbon cable' underneath the buttons is misaligned somehow and when I press the menu key, it is loading the green telephone key menu because of malfunction of the ribbon.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my Torch, I've found I can't charge my phone as I'm talking to someone on it. What I have to do is hang up with whoever I'm talking to, pull the battery out, wait for it to reboot, plug it in, then call that person back. And if, when I plug it in after it reboots, it still won't charge, I have to do a battery pull all over again. And even when I do all that and manage to get it charging, it still stops charging after ten minutes of me on the phone so I end up having to cut the phone call short, which leaves the person on the other line less than impressed. I invested in a Blackberry because I assumed things like this wouldn't happen.
P.S. I've only had my Torch for six months, and I've done all the tricks (ie turning off the wi-fi) to make the battery last longer, yet over the past couple of weeks it needs to be charged everyday or it will die.
I tried a lot of times to login on my Blackberry ID (on my phone) but i cant login to it, I can on my pc.
