BB (RIM) :: 9700 Disable Carrier Logo On Main Screen?
Apr 27, 2010
Not asking how to debrand the phone, I know thats frowned upon.I just got a 9700 Bold and want to make it as clean as I can legally. I've already replaced the faceplate on the front of the phone with a OEM one. Is it possible for me to disable the t-mobile logo thats always floating above the home screen? Also can I remove the applications that they pre-installed on the phone? (does updating the OS do this??)Basically everything but changing the bootup logo as I believe that involves debranding..
i'm in france, i own a 8900 and i'm going to change for a 9700. I renew my contract and get the cell with my points, the only problem is i'm with orange and the phone is like that with Orange on the bottom. they just ruined everything... when i look t-mobile in US it's so much better than this orange logo... Is there a way to remove it ? to hide it ?
Just got my 9700. All in all, I like it except the UI is horrific. The majority of the screen is taken up by the green stuff which serves absolutely no purpose and to get to the screen with all the icons I need to click on the BB button. Obviously, this is subjective and maybe people like this green stuff, but can someone tell me if there is a way to bypass this and have the screen with all the icons be my default? Perhaps someone wrote a theme or something like that?
On my BB Bold 9700 the font on the phone number dial line has changed after an OS update and does not match the font used on all apps on the device. Note I am only referencing the phone number input line Originally the font was the same as all other apps including other text display in the phone mode.
i have a new SMS icon on my screen. I already deleted all my SMS and the icon is still there. After deleted all SMS, i even send a new one just so I think it may reset the screen. No dice, then I tried battery pull, no dice either.
I've had my BlackBerry Bold 9700 for more than 3 months.Lately, the icon's been getting stuck on my Main Screen. So, I always ended up uninstalling and reinstalling, and the problem would always get fixed. But last time I did that, my BlackBerry Messenger disappeared..I tried everything!..I looked through every single folder, ticked Show All, but nothing,I also went to Explore, showed hidden files, there was nothing I tried rebooting, deleting and reinstalling, also nothing..I also went on Desktop Manager, checked the Application Loader, and it's there, it's ticked.I checked Options > Applications > Add-on, and I can see that the BlackBerry Messenger is installed (Research In Motion Limited, version 220.127.116.11).My Device Software is updated, and when I check for updates, it says no updates available.I tried Security Wipe, but it's still not there..I tried to backup and restore as well, but nothing's changed
i've had this happen to my 8900, and thought there was something wrong with the phone, but after doing a official update from t-mobile on mt 9700 the same thing happens. whe doing a battery pull and the phone reboots. only on the main screen (the screen with all the apps and folders) the screen is completely blank or white and the only way i can see the folders or apps is by highlighting them. only happened after i updated it and only happens when doing a battery pull, once i reset the wall paper it will be fine until i do another battery pull. i already uninstalled and reinstalled my blackberry desktop and try to reload and that didn't fix it. anyone had this issue or know how to fix it.
I'm a new bb user, which has patiently waited 3weeks to get my new 9700.- which arrived today BUT, when I turn it on the progress line goes all the way to the right, and then nothing else happens. It's just a black screen with the bb logo on it. Tried to downgrade the OP, but still the same thing happens.
Called the web-shop I bought it from, and they say I have to return it, and wait for them to have a look at it..usually 2-4 weeks. Is there anything I can do?
I am with Rogers and My contract was coming to an end. So 2 weeks ago I called them for a "price match" with TELUS or bell. and they agreed to it. Few hours after setting up my new plan, i noticed that my Wi-Fi symbol is not lit up however it does show the SSID at the top of my home screen as if I am connected to the Wi-Fi Network.I know My Wi-Fi was working before the contract upgrade. and i have tested with 3 different Wi-Fi networks that I was able to connect previously.
I am running 18.104.22.1681. At the time of my Contract upgrade I was running .509 so I thought if I upgraded it might work but didnít.Is it possible that Rogers blocked my Wi-Fi? Would a carrier have the ability to do this remotely?
I can't stand how the bold 9700 has a screen lock button on top of it- on my old curve i set the side convenience button as the screen lock and to unlock the screen i had to hit two keys (since i didn't set a PW)... now all i have to do his hit the top button-- i've pocket dialed a bunch of people now just by accidentally pressing this button- is there any way to disable this top screen lock button?
I'm planning on selling my Bold 9700 which is currently use on Fido, and a friend wants to buy it from me. He is also on Fido. Will I need to call Fido to get the my PIN release or can I just leave it since it is on the same carrier?
i've got a bb bold 9700 with OS5.if i want to upgrade it in the futer(to os6), how can i do so? the links in this forum let me select my carrier.but my bold is not branded and no carrier software is running on it. which one should i select, or is there another link to get it?
I am having a blackberry bold 9700 carrier locked phone. It came with OS 5, now i want to upgrade the OS to V6. My question is will it allow me to upgrade the OS to V6?. I have seen OS6 from the same carrier on blackberry software download section which i prefer to use. If it allows, should i delete vendor.xml file?
For my 9700 the carrier (China Mobile) shows up as @QhtY(triagle)(three horizontal lines).Anyone have any ideas? The SIM cards of other carriers show up perfectly fine. Reboots and battery pulls don't do anything. I've ungraded multiple OS's as well and the problem still persists.
"Confirmed: there aren't any rim internal beta builds of os 6 for 9100 or 9700 yet. Thus carrier testing hasn't started. Just a heads up."Just posted on B Bleaks.I would have thought testing would have begun by now.
I have an unlocked T-Mobile 9700 that I'm using on Cincinnati Bell Wireless. At certain points I still see T-Mobile screens or software displays - when I first open up the browser, when the phone first reboots, etc.It happens quickly and doesn't really bother me, I was just curious if certain software stuff like that was permanently set into the phone's OS even though it is unlocked and working well on another carrier..(I upgraded to .593 yesterday.)
I migrated to a different carrier. I setup a new blackberry email address on it. When I used BB Desktop Manager restore to bring my data onto the 9700, it brought my old email address along with it. The new carrier has no clue on how to erase it. I have to be careful now to make sure I am choosing new carrier when sending out emails otherwise they won't send. How do I delete the old carrier email address? From the handset or from Desktop Manager?
I have a strange problem since yesterday. Out of the blue my 9700 (22.214.171.1242, free device, Vodafone Germany) can no longer connect to the Internet. The connection to the BIS, however, is still there. It lacks only the right service books. Vodafone said that I should do a software update -> so I installed 126.96.36.1996. But the problem persists. The Vodafone-BlackBerry support is then determined that posting the service books hang in a "queue" and can not be delivered. They created a new BIS account for testing, even there the problem exists. My carrier says I have to replace the 9700. But I don't think, that this is a hardware problem. Sounds more like a software problem to me, because some service books still arrive:
Wi-Fi TCP / IP Browser Wi-Fi TCP / IP Transport Save Self VPL D2 WAP 2.0 Wap Push Config Vodafone DE MMS transport Provisioning
Akkupulls, resending service books, wiping and new firmware install brought no improvement. I just despair. Every data connection with no BIS requirement works. (e.g. weather apps)
The camera app on my Z3 times out, and the camera app closes and returns me to the main screen, after 30 seconds. Sometimes that isn't long enough -- I'm waiting for a specific thing to happen that I want to photograph, like the start of a sporting event, and reopening the camera app is a pain.
I transferred contact data from my wife's BB9000 to my new BB9700 using BB desktop software 5.0. As a result in my new 9700 bold I got transferred old email account from original BB9000. I could Hide buy I could not delete it and every time I try to send email my BB9700 giving me option to use both new and old email address
