Jul 1, 2011Well I donwloaded Facebook and AIM apps but when I go to use them I cant because of some thing to do with my sevice provider, I dont wanna use the service provider though I wanna use WiFi, how do I do this?

May 13, 2011i have blackberry curve 8900 version 4.6.1.114 and i'm using the older version of facebook blackberry version 1.6.0 because i've read that you can use wifi with the older facebook version without data plan. however i still can't connect. it says "could not connect because a data service is not available...etc" i tried to turned it off and remove the sim card and battery however it's still not resolved. is there any other way i can use facebook blackberry using wifi?

Mar 17, 2012A hard reset (remove the battery while the BB is on) seems to have worked. I say seemed since it has been reported on this board that it may return when the "service books" are updated...I'm new to BBs. I just purchased it today and against my better judgment installed FAcebook (FB). After getting a deluge of mindless drivel pushed to my new BB I decided FB was not coming near my BB again.So I found the icon - menu - delete. I restart the BB as instructed and to my surprise the icon is still there.I tried to move the icon into a folder but I don't know how to move it because the menu button does nothing when I select the icon and press menu.
And there are some FB messages too. I deleted the FB messages - when I check my messages it reports I have no messages in FB ... BUT there is a little FB icon at the top of the screen showing one message. This one message seems to be relic but I have no idea how to reset or delete it.I also tried the BB desktop software. It shows that it is uninstalled. There appears to be no way of deleting icon, moving the icon, or deleting the FB message indicator either.

They transfered all my contacts and didn't change my DC number but for some reason I can only DC one phone number on my contacts list. All the rest come up 'user not authorized' The message also shows up on the other end when they try to DC me.

Feb 28, 2011I have a weird situation here.I have a Curve 8350i; yesterday I upgraded the BlackBerry Messenger on it from 4.6 to the latest version, 5.0.1.41. That seemed to go fine; I IMed w/several of my contacts during the course of the day.Later that day I also installed updates for Google Talk, Yahoo IM, and AOL IM; why, I'm not sure, as I seldom use them.After that I noticed that I was able to send IMs via BBM to a specific user but not receive messages back; earlier in the day after upgrading to BBM 5.01 I was able to IM this user.
My phone has been a touch wonky the last few weeks so I uninstalled BBM 5 and reinstalled; that didn't work.I shut down my BB a few times, removing the battery each time, and still, nothing.This morning I performed a wipe after deleting the contact and readding said contact. Still nothing.After wiping and reactivating my BB I then downgraded to BlackBerry Messenger 4.6. I sent test messages out and others could get and reply to them, but not this one user; again the user would get the IMs but not be able to reply. As BBM didn't seem to be the problem I went ahead and re-upgraded to BBM 5.0.I have since deleted the user again and had the user try to request me again; I get the requests and approve them and the user enters my contacts, but still cannot send me messages.
I am able to send PIN messages to this user and said user can reply to PIN messages.Basically, after all that I have done the user can receive my messages but when the user replies nothing is sent to me.

Sep 17, 2012My ISP has moved my email account to an imap server. The email now has a different username and password, although still the same email address. the emails are now not coming through to my blackberry curve 9300. I've tried to change the user name (in settings, email, login info) but it won't let me edit the field. Should i delete the whole account and start again? They are coming through on my 02email address but that's not very useful to me.

May 14, 2010I'm new to the BB and purchased an 8330 on ebay. Everythings seems to be fine, except, not all of the pervious owner info was deleted before I got it.. I was able to go into the user info by deleting and adding my own and that worked fine. I was able to activate the phone ok.However, when I set up the email account info for my web mail account, it created an additional account and didn't replace the old owners Gmail account.
I receive my emial fine but when I reply from the phone it goes our through the Gmail and not my webmail account. Both Icons are on the screen and I have set "Hide" and "Show All". If I uncheck "Show All" the Icon disappears. If I recheck the "Show All" it is back so it must still be active in background. (I do this uncheck by opening the Browser Icon.) The old name is still there on that Gmail account.
How do I get rid of this old user info, so it won't haunt me anymore?
BB Curve :: Baffled - 9300 Setting Up Email - User - Password?
Sep 16, 2012About three weeks ago I upgraded my BB from Curve 9300 to 9380. I copied settings using desktop software and transferred over to my new device. All apps reinstalled fine and I set five email accounts including 3 (business emails) provided through a hosting account with Media Temple. These all work fine and still do.My old phone was to be given to a colleague, so I reset the device and put all setting back to default and followed the process indicated for a new SIM. When we tried to set up email on the old device (9300) it wouldn't work giving an error message stating unable to verify account contact email provider. I am the administrator of the email accounts so I know that the settings are correct., the network provider reset all settings for email etc and BIS account details etc are all correct. The email account works through outlook and can be accessed via webmail and we've tried password change and even deleted and set a new email account up but still the same problem - error message stating user or password incorrect.
I hoped that this was a problem with the settings on the old device (9300) which we could pin down and resolve however it seems not to be as now when I try to set up a new email account on my new device (9380) I get the same problem!User password error - when the details entered are 100% correct and on a device which I successfully set up the same type of email account!

Apr 25, 2012Twitter and facebook apps worked just fine on wifi. I don't have a data plan. Then Rogers gave me 2 months of free data plan. Now that the 2 months have ended, the twitter, facebook apps along with a few others only work sporadically on wifi for the last 2 weeks. They do not necessarily connect to the internet (network unavailable), even when the browser does connect. It seems the apps are having problems but the browser is doing okay. After a reboot, it works for an hour or so before losing connection. Then it can be a day and multiple reboots before it comes back.
