Aug 5, 2011Using my Blackberry Curve 8530 with OS 5, I can't download the new Facebook from App world. I recently had Facebook but had uninstalled it. It no longer appears anywhere on the device and in fact is not showing up in App world either.
Each time I try to install the new version, it downloads 105 Kb and then prompts me "Application "Facebook" already exists. Replace version 1.9.0.28 with version 2.0.0.37"
If I hit yes, it pauses for about 30 seconds, then indicates there was a problem with the installation and that "Blackberry App World is having trouble connecting to the Blackberr App World server. Verify your network connections and try again".
I have been able to install and uninstall any other program from App world, so of course that can't be valid.

Nov 21, 2012upgraded my facebook yesterday but now it won't accept when i hit "i agree" to the terms & conditions. i have up to date software, i've tried deleting it and reinstalling it, i've tried rebooting.

Aug 21, 2011Had my blackberry for a few months but i still can't get BBM working, i have a contract with 250MB internet and i can use the normal browser when im out and about. I can only use the Facebook App when i am connected to WiFi. My BBM says (pending) when i add someone, and it doesnt show that i have added them on their phone.

Feb 7, 20121st- When I want to use the facebook through the Facebook Icon (Application) of my BB Curve 9380 phone, sometimes it will be connected and after a few seconds it will cut off. but when i use the browser button to use facebook, it will never cut off. Now, what i want is to fix that application, since i want to use that application compare than using the browser button. Additional: Everytime i get disconnected and when i log in back, here it says to me: if you want to use this application, please call your serivce provider to update your data plan or connect your device to a Wi-Fi connection, ("which i'm already connected").

I do have the BIS so I'm unsure why it is working, it's been almost thirty hours since i got the new blackberry, and I've tried taking the battery out for a few seconds while it was on but that didn't work either. I'm not sure what to do. It also says that my BlackBerry internet service (BIS) is not connected, (although I do pay for it). How do i get the BIS connected and the BBM working?

I've been using a Curve 8520 for nearly a year now, and have absolutely no problems with it (other than the trackpad not working from time to time). A couple days ago, someone gifted me a Curve 3G 9300, so I transferred all my data over and got it started. As working on social networks is part of my job, the first thing I did is download the Facebook and Twitter apps. Problem is neither of them work. The apps tell me I need a data plan for them to work. I've seen this issue across various boards, but everyone that had it actually didn't have a data plan; I do. I put my SIM back into my 8520, and everything works fine, but when I put it in the 9300, none of the social media apps work

May 16, 2011I recently upgraded to (according to my phone) version 5.0.0.1067, platform 5.20.96. Since this upgrade I can no longer use my browser to do anything. It shows at the bottom that it's "requesting" the site, then it changes to "loading" and gets stuck there forever. The blue bar at the bottom indicating how much has loaded will go all the way over to the other side, in about 15 minutes, but never loads anything.
I haven't changed any settings with the browser. I have icons for my email and for facebook and can still receive updates/emails so it's even more confusing to me as my internet is obviously working.
I apologize if this has been answered already, I went through 5 pages of questions in the forum and had not seen anything yet. I've tried taking the battery out about 10 times, I've cleared all of the history, cache and cookie cache and noticed that there isn't any "pushed" content.

I also noticed that in the top right hand corner where the coverage bars are it has gprs instead of GPRS as it normally says. I've tried rebooting it at least 10 times now, nothing seems to work!

Aug 12, 2010I updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.

Jul 8, 2012I had random issues with the fb app when on GB also, but now it wont start at all, or, it starts, then goes black and never recovers. finally about 10 - 15 minutes later I get a pop up message that the app has stopped responding and do I want to report it. Of course I report it every time.
I tried uninstalling the app completely but could not do it. I could only uninstall the upgrades made to it previously, so I tried that and then reinstalled the upgrades, but to no avail.
I did not realize that fb is a permanent app. I thought I could uninstall it completely, but I cannot. Has anyone else run into this with fb?
yes I did have other issues with ics and I have cache cleared and started uninstalling app's where possible. I have NOT tried a factory reset yet, but that may very well be next.
